  1. I agree with pretty much everything you said, of course except for that first paragraph that was mostly tongue in cheek. Well except for the okies, arkies, Louisiana folks, and criminals, not sure how anyone could tolerate those people. I grew up a poor white kid in a 95% Hispanic town, we all got along great. I made sure my son went to a very diverse high school in the Houston area and I believe it made for a well rounded man now. If he would have gone to an all white school he still would have been fine because my wife and I didn't tolerate racism in our home. If we did, he would have gotten his ass kicked daily at school and would have deserved it. I just don't feel like watching a show that basically tells me deep down I'm racist and I should feel white guilt. I hate pretty much everyone equally and it has nothing to do with skin color. I've been robbed by 4 black guys with a shotgun in Memphis right off Biel Street, and a black kid with a semi-automatic in Houston. Neither time did I feel it was a racial thing, just an economic thing. I just happened to be the one with money in his wallet.
  2. I'm sure both Sam and Emmanuel had some really uncomfortable conversations with a lot of black men, women, and children when they went to Africa with their dad to do volunteer medical work. I give them props for doing something truly noble and selfless, and their dad seems like a great man. As for his show, I don't think I'll be watching it any time soon.
  3. I hate to admit it but even wahlburg, Walburg, wahlburg, or walberg, to lazy to look it up, sings better in that clip than I can.
  4. I guess we'll see who the better talent evaluators are if there's no high school football this year. Handing out scholarships without a senior year to evaluate players will make things interesting.
  5. Washington Engines has a nice ring to it. It's a nonoffending homonym to an offending synonym. Everybody wins.
  6. No one is disputing anyone can pretty much say whatever they want, but it's wise to stop and think SHOULD I say whatever I'm thinking in the heat of the moment. One thing I truly believe is everyone should be held to the same standards no matter what race or gender you happen to be. If that's all Marquise said then I agree, he really didn't say anything wrong. I will say I've seen a lot more written about BLM than what Jackson said, so I'm not sure where Marquis is coming from.
  7. I wish all entertainers and athletes would let politicians do all the talking for them, they're paid to say stupid shit. I know, freedom of speech, but it's a turn off for too many fans. I'm tired of so and so said this, so let's boycott the NFL, or I'm never watching another movie that jackass makes. Why alienate half the fan base especially when their opinion probably won't change any minds. I think it was Elvis Presley that a reporter tried to catch on a political question back in the early 70s. She asked him what he thought about war protesters and what should be done. He said something like, I'm just an entertainer and I'd prefer to keep my opinion to myself. She followed up with do you think other entertainers should keep their opinions to themselves also? He had a one word answer, NO! Next question. I'm guessing it was around the time Jane Fonda went to Hanoi. Bringing up Elvis and Jane, yeah I'm old.
  8. When I was younger at least 50% of my tv/radio time was spent on sports shows. Not sure if it's an age thing or not, but starting I guess around my early 40's I slowed down watching sports shows and listening to sports radio. Now in my 50's I spend less way less than 1% of my tv/radio time on sports shows. As far as watching sports, I catch all Horns football games, a few big basketball games, and a few big baseball games. On football Saturdays I channel surf most of the day when the Horns aren't playing. NFL, NBA, MLB I don't watch regular season at all and only catch the playoffs if Astros, Rockets, Texans or Cowboys are playing. Just curious if any of you other olds don't care like you used to.
  9. I'm curious what Jordan's life experience was growing up in a small Texas town opposed to Brenan Eagles or Anthony Cook being from Waco or Houston, (still confused on that one). I'm guessing Jordan knew just about everyone in Cuero and vice-versa which probably made his experience much more pleasant. I'm guessing small town athletes experience far less racism compared to their urban school counterparts. IMO, the best way to get over racist tendencies is to get to know people. Hard to hate someone simply because of skin color once you get to know them. Now if they're an asshole it's pretty damn easy to dislike regardless of skin color.
  10. Damn, I bet all TT NFL contracts combined didn't reach $400,000,000 before this.
  11. I hate everything East of downtown Houston. I would rather drive to California than fly anywhere East. Hell, I'd rather drive to California than to Lafayette, La. I have a particularly strong dislike for anything Louisiana.
  12. Could you direct me to where attendance has gone up the last 3 years? All I can find is it's down the last 3 years with 2019 being the worst attended year of the decade. That was on statistica.com My bad. You pointed out tv ratings.
  13. That's far too divisive. Ebony and ivory takes care of both and is a very uniting tune.
  14. Richard Sherman none too happy about Cam only guaranteed a million. I don't like to kick a guy when he's down so I'll root for him to hit a few of his incentives. He just got married so he'll need the money. I heard him in an interview with his agent a month or 2 ago and he seemed like a decent guy. Talked about his charity and his wedding, came across as pretty genuine. Fuck the Pats though.
  15. -3, too old to put a number on, -1, 0
  16. Kind of ironic ain't it, cause unfortunately I'm sure it was white people who coined the word. I'd be happy never to hear it again, except for in Blazing Saddles of course. They could mute it every time a white guy says it if need be. If Gone With The Wind will come with some sort of denouncement from now on, Blazing Saddles is headed for the furnace.
  17. Sooo, it's probably been answered but what happens with graduating seniors if there is no season? Can Sam hang around and take basket weaving next year so he can play? I Know in his case he has a redshirt year plus his 4th year. I've heard the word unprecedented what seems like thousands of times since this whole virus started, but as far as college sports go it's truly unprecedented. Sorry to stray away from strictly virus talk to get a little football/virus talk in.
  18. Thanks for the Sul Ross history lesson in the aggy thread. I had no idea what a POS that guy was.
  19. I apologize for the false accusation. Sometimes my memory isn't very good and I'm too lazy to go back and look at things, otherwise we could have resolved our differences and misunderstandings long ago. Peace!
  20. I like to think I'm up on my history, given my DAR award and all I received in high school. Lol. But I realize now that so many historical figures are more controversial than I ever learned in my history classes. I just believe if back in January if you would have asked students on campus who Jim Hogg was you may have gotten a former governor of Texas from a few, but how many knew he was racist? Hell, I didn't even know, but now that I do it doesn't surprise me. I just learned from reading a post by randolphduke that Sul Ross was a real piece of shit confederate general. Why they ever named a university after him I have no idea. Everyone of course knows of Robert E Lee and his statue may belong in a museum somewhere but not on a university campus or even public park. Bottom line is I think most of us agree everyone should feel comfortable on campus and I was sincere when I said change the names and take down the statues. What I meant by it changes nothing is it won't keep racist or bad cops from killing an innocent man or keep someone from hiring a person because of the color of their skin. I guess every journey starts with a first step. I don't think we're too far apart on how we think about this issue, except for possibly donations to BLM. I said in a previous post have more scholarships for black students instead. I think that would be money better spent and less likely to line someone's pockets. Damn, I mention R. D. in my post and there he is. And by the way I saw you were the spelling Nazi when someone spelled a lot allot, it's apologize, not apologise. Just messing with you. If we all spent time correcting everyone's spelling nothing would get posted. I know I've had my share of misspellings.
  21. Actually, nowhere did I post anything about knowing how black athletes feel and that it doesn't bother them. Show me now or stfu. I said I doubt most students and student athletes probably didn't know much about who the buildings were named after until recently. Could I be wrong about that, absolutely, but I doubt it. Then I proceeded to say change the names, take down the statues, change the words, but don't donate to BLM because it's basicly extortion.
  22. I believe I stated I don't believe the majority of students of all races on campus have no idea who most of these buildings are named after. Pretty simple. As I said in another post, change all the names and remove the statues, but I don't believe in donating to BLM or any group.
