  1. Thought it was going to be about the Netflix documentary on David Gilmour, but now I have my doubts about it being real, as there are like 5 different names for it floating around.
  2. I'm willing to give that whole "Leftovers" thing a shot where 2% of the religious types disappear/are raptured up. And you have a basement?
  3. He gets another house if he snores too loudly instead of the fucking living room couch?
  4. That maybe why Iran is unwilling to back down now - same boat as Putin - a big sign of weakness and you're kaput as a leader.
  5. Thanks to all of the idiots who listen to Andrew Tate and Ben Shapiro and Crowder and Musk and who are too far gone on saying stupid shit on social media, or who immerse themselves in the online gamer culture (the toxic part of the culture I should say), guys like my son will clean up when he's older. I would argue it's far easier to get laid in this atmosphere if you're a young man than it was when I was a young man because you have so many easy avenues of connecting with women (or men if that's your deal). A smartphone and a few social media/dating apps gives you instant access to more available people in a few minutes than those of us growing up in the 80s or 90s would see in several years of bar hopping or trying to dip your pen in the company ink. All it takes is to be clean, semi-presentable, and don't say or do stupid shit, and be willing to listen to the other person and act like you give a shit. But plenty of young fucking morons buy into the "alpha male" shit that they are being sold on social media. I could spend 30 seconds on the FB and Instagram profiles of my younger cousins and tell you which of them will have no problem finding somebody to hook up with, even get married, and which are going to be incels for a while until they find some idiot woman who was raised by shitty parents.
  6. Yep, unlike the Baptists, they'll say "Hi" to each other in the liquor store.
  7. @RamjetFDO and the other Photoshoppers need to get to work. And it looks like Israel is doing circumcisions on the wings of their aircraft.
  8. My oldest is doing a scout camp and living out of tents, and got two full rounds of storms, so you can thank him.
  9. We have a President who has publicly talked about taking natural resources from at least two other countries who are or were at war. The Iranians will have it on their minds.
  10. If you’re Iran you have to be a bit concerned that not only are other Muslim countries not complaining, but they are in fact allowing Israeli fighters to fly through their airspace. And you have to be really concerned that your proxies are mostly sitting this one out, outside of some token gestures If they try to shut down the Strait of Hormuz/Persian Gulf in some kind of retaliation against the West/fuck with oil supplies/prices, they could find themselves being hit by the Arab nations. And now that Israel (population 10 million), controls Iran’s (population 91 million) airspace, Israel probably won’t let up any time soon. We can talk about peace negations but Israel is just not gonna let off the gas. I won’t be surprised if we see major changes in Iranian leadership.
  11. It’s actually interesting. Started out American, Japanese company licensed branding or whatever from the Americans, then eventually bought the whole thing and 7-11 is glorious in Japan compared to here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven-Eleven_Japan
  12. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consortium_Agreement_of_1954 The Consortium Agreement of 1954 (Persian: قرارداد کنسرسیوم) provided Western oil companies with 50% ownership of Iranian oil production after its ratification in 1954 expiring in 1979.[1] According to the consortium agreement, 40% of Iran's oil shares belonged to 5 American companies, the other 40% belonged to Iran-UK oil companies, 14% belonged to a Dutch oil company, and the remaining 6% belonged to a French oil company.[2] In spite of numerous negotiations and offers, Mohammad Reza Shah refused to extend the Agreement which originally and clearly postulated that the Consortium had the right to prolong it 15 years (3 times 5 years). A year after the overthrow of Premier Mohammad Mossadegh by the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, the British and American governments began pressuring the reinstated Shah of Iran into negotiations with Britain over the ownership of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. The British cabinet had imposed a series of economic sanctions on Iran that prohibited the export of key commodities to Iran.[3] Britain's boycott had become devastatingly effective, with Iranians "becoming poorer and unhappier by the day".[4 The dispute was finalized with the incorporation of a 25-year international Oil Consortium Agreement of 1954, dividing the aforementioned 50% ownership to foreign companies as follows. 40% to be divided equally (8% each) among the five major American companies; British Petroleum to have a 40% share; Royal Dutch/Shell to have 14%; and Compagnie française des pétroles, a French Company, to receive 6%. A year later in 1955 US-government ordered the 5 US-companies to each transfer 1% of their 8%, to several smaller companies because these companies had complained that 'they were left out'.[5] The agreement further stipulates that the Consortium would take care of (almost) all production, Refining, transport and (only international) marketing of Iranian oil for which purposes two Dutch legal entities were to be created and based in The Netherlands: Iranian Oil Refining Company Iranian Oil Exploration and Producing Company. Basing these companies in Great Britain was considered politically undesirable, as was the initial wish of BP to get 50%. With English companies and a large 50% stake, was thought not to be acceptable to the Iranians. Furthermore, 50% would materially give BP a majority stake because BP had strong connections with the little (6%) French company CFP. Hence only 40% for the former 100% possessor. The agreement, which was heavily pressured by President Eisenhower, gave American oil companies significant influence over how much petroleum Iran pumped and the price it could sell for.[6] Beginning in 1973, the Shah faced increasing tensions with Western nations after announcing he would not renew the consortium agreement upon its expiration and planned to nationalize Iranian oil in 1979. The Shah, speaking to 5,000 farmers and workers, accused the oil companies of mishandling operations under the 1954 agreement. He said he had ordered the National Iranian Oil Company to start hiring foreign experts to work with Iranians so the company could take over the consortium's duties “either immediately or from 1979.”[5] Many Iranians accuse Western nations of supporting the overthrow of the Shah due to his failure to renew the consortium agreement in 1979 in what is known as the 1979 Iranian Revolution conspiracy theory.[7] According to the New York Times, the oil companies, through a spokesman, argued that the Shah did not have a legal right to end their contract in 1979, because the Consortium had the right of prolonging it for 15 years.
  13. World’s largest convenience story based out of Japan is 7-11, but he doesn’t want to say he worked for 7-11. It tracks. edit: stupid auto-correct
  14. Yeah, and if the OG is out of the equation, whoever comes into power is going to have to play nice with the rest of the world.
  15. As long as the religious nuts are in power, Israel will be their bogeyman, and it feels like they will be even more inclined to get nukes built. And they are even more isolated after Syria fell.
  16. Yeah, it won't spread beyond Iran/Israel. Russia can't fuck with Israel and can't even defend Iran. I would have been worried had any other Muslim nations sided with Iran (outside of Yemen) but they are more than content to see Iran wrecked. I'm curious what countries are letting Israeli aircraft fly over them. Lichtenstein will be penalized.
  17. I think at some point Israel knocks off the Iranian leadership and hopes some kind of revolution kicks in and the radicals are thrown out.
  18. Hays County had two EF-0 tornadoes the other night. https://www.kxan.com/weather/weather-blog/nws-two-separate-ef-0-tornadoes-in-hays-county/
  19. Until somebody parks half-a-dozen cargo ships up and down the East, West, and Gulf Coasts, and a few containers open up and out fly a shitload of drones. None of Tom Clancy's ghost writers better steal that plot (but they will).
  20. And we would seek to fuck over Iran for so many reasons (financial, cultural, historical, political, and the list goes on), and Iran knows this, not to mention we've been allied with the Sunnis/Saudis who are at war with Iran's proxies in Yemen, and that whole thing about supporting Israel ride-or-die, so we would in fact be the worst option. I don't like the idea for reasons that @bolverk mentioned (China would be seeking something that benefits them trade-wise as well as gaining geopolitical clout), but regardless, we are definitely not the party to negotiate anything with Iran, so it'd have to be somebody else. Ironically, Russia probably has the most to lose if this continues, and they need this shit over with now. The longer this goes, the likelihood increases that Israel will cripple Iran's capacity to supply Russia with munitions of various types. In fact, they may have already crippled at least some of Iran's infrastructure that supplies Russia. The Russians are probably screaming at the Iranians to end this now.
  21. This could be really good for Ukraine. Even if those aren’t being sold to Russia, it could cause Iran to suspend shipments of other systems to Russia as they save them for themselves.
  22. Keeping YGIFS love of 90s SNL alive.
