  1. Your points contradict themselves. The three biggest issues would have plagued ANY candidate the Dems put forward. I get itโ€™s fun to dunk on Kamala specifically right now, but there is nothing she - or any other candidate - could have done to overcome the current perception of the Democratic Party in this county.
  2. Correct, but there are tens of millions of people like yourself who were voting red no matter what this year, and retroactively trying to reconcile that with candidate choice is a waste of time for everyone involved.
  3. There is nothing she could have done that would have won your vote.
  4. This was my original conclusion, although Iโ€™ve inadvertently let myself get away from it. Look around the map: Democratic candidates of all types were trounced last night. Much like the rest of the world, this is a bad time for the party in power. 2008 Obama would have lost last night.
  5. Ignoring the actual voting habits of the American electorate is how we got here. Or we can run Rashida Tlaib in 2028 and try to lose all 50 states!
  6. The issue is that Trump gives them what they want because they flatter him. Vance gives them what they want because heโ€™s one of them and a true believer. Thereโ€™s a big difference.
  7. Itโ€™s the party of JD Vance now. Heโ€™s cleaned up a lot of the awkwardness that plagued him at first. Heโ€™ll step in and carry the torch without missing a beat.
  8. Absolutely. But until we do, โ€œletโ€™s run a qualified female candidate and surely the American people will come to their sensesโ€ can no longer be the strategy for a Party that wants to win.
  9. 1) donโ€™t be the party in power when inflation hits 2) donโ€™t run a woman again, ever The only soul searching needed, the rest is noise.
  10. People loathe the democrats because theyโ€™re the party expected to be the adults in the room, so when things go wrong itโ€™s obviously their fault. Trump is about to have the Senate, House, and a popular vote mandate yet he will still blame Democrats anytime anything bad happens, and everyone in this thread currently lecturing the Democrats about personal responsibility will go along with it.
  11. This is such a complete and total rebuke that thereโ€™s no point in analyzing specific things that the Dems may or may not have done wrong. Itโ€™s like criticizing specific play calls when asking why Colorado State wasnโ€™t able to keep the game closer against us. The electorate wanted to vote red this cycle, period. In hindsight, nothing else mattered.
  12. In 2016, I was shocked that he won but instantly became more plugged into politics and there was an underlying desire to fight against Trump and his policies. I get that itโ€™s still fresh, but this time I just kind of want to unplug and get away. Whatโ€™s the point?
  13. We live in a country that views the world differently than most of us do. Itโ€™s an unfortunate reality. Bed time. If Iโ€™m gonna be pissed off tomorrow, I might as well be rested.
  14. We will not see a Democratic majority Supreme Court for the rest of most of our lifetimes.
  15. There is nothing that could have changed this. Harris ran a phenomenal campaign, hence all of our optimism 12 hours ago. Worldwide, incumbents - which she essentially is - have been fucked for the last few years. We hoped that the US was different, but itโ€™s clear we were wrong.
  16. They have him sweeping the 7 swing states.
  17. It's exactly what he said would happen.
  18. Reread what you just wrote. Florida is red is the only concrete conclusion drawn, which we already knew. This is 2020 again - except this time nobody expected Dems to do well in Florida, I feel I'm taking crazy pills.
  19. We won't be able to draw any definitive conclusions for at least another hour.
  20. Early states lean red, gives impressions that may or may not have any correlation on the rest of the night. 2020 was the exact same.
  21. Genuinely insane to have someone at 65% when we have zero information about WI/MI/PA.
  22. For folks stuck in here: Longhorns 5 in the initial Playoff rankings, projected first round vs Alabama.
