  1. It's true that he supports a lot of policies that are currently associated with the "left." It's also true that many of these policies are widely popular with the general public, until they get the "socialism" or whatever tag associated with them. Walz' super power appears to be his ability to successfully appeal these to a mass audience without attaching the typical partisan labels to them.
  2. They know that "stolen valor" is an easy term that everyone understands, while explaining a convoluted scenario of a long time member of the Guard retiring is complicated, so they are falsely using that phrase to ding him. It's that simple.
  3. Slept on it and am even more convinced Walz was the right pick. I think Shapiro still has a bright future but 1) much like "cop" Kamala in 2020, this isn't the right time for him given the current political climate and 2) I think when he goes national, it will be at the top of the ticket, not in a supporting role... I think his style in a VP role would run a big risk of upstaging the Presidential candidate.
  4. See this is exactly what I mean, nobody talks like this! Just fucking be normal.
  5. Why is it impossible for y’all to talk like normal human beings?
  6. Really glad you informed us all yesterday that Biden and Harris were single-handedly responsible for the global economy. I needed to know who to thank for saving it today…
  7. Legit got goosebumps at the spontaneous “USA, USA” chant during the rally. This is our fucking country, and we’re allowed to be patriots too.
  8. I was vocal in my support for Shapiro, but, man, Walz really is the perfect compliment to Kamala. Indescribably excited for this duo.
  9. Someone smarter than me tell me why this doesn't matter.
  10. To the winner, to the Walz
  11. The lack of leaks has been remarkable, as has the buildup, but I fear that including Shapiro in a final 2 creates an opportunity for this decision to be framed as a referendum on Israel/Jews no matter which she chooses. If he is the pick vs the current darling, the disappointment will be palpable within the base and if he isn’t then you can already predict the line of attack coming from Republicans. Hope I’m wrong.
  12. Attending Texas Tech leads to dumbass decisions like throwing home there.
  13. Cavan Biggio might be one of the 10 worst hitters in the league and I am desperately hoping we sign him to improve this lineup.
  14. Honestly found her scenes unbearable. I don't know if she can't act or if the script was bad, but I did not believe for one second that she was some badass Admiral.
  15. That's fair. My point was mainly that there's likely been much more scrutiny from an oppo perspective on Shapiro given the state he represents and general perception of his future within the party, but you're right that most folks didn't know either of these dudes before a month ago (and, if we're being honest, still don't).
  16. Not that anything matters anymore, but lol
  17. This is a solid reminder of the fact that we are following the decision making process of teenagers, and teenagers are universally really bad at making decisions.
  18. See, I disagree wholeheartedly here. I absolutely buy the "excitement" angle and truthfully think that is enough to not pick him. But all of the criticism of Shapiro is due to the moderate/conservative shit he's done. Is the GOP suddenly going to become anti-Israel? Anti-vouchers? Anti-fracking? You think they're going to willingly bring sexual harassment into the equation for this election? There are reasons to not pick Shapiro, but "easy for GOP to attack" ain't one of them.
  19. I guess my counter to this is that Shapiro has been widely considered as a future star of the party for years, and competed in a high visibility, competitive election for Governor. His oppo file was constructed a while ago and his shit is known, for better or worse. Meanwhile, none of us knew who Walz was a month ago, and just TODAY I'm seeing information about a DUI and a photo of him with Netanyahu make it's way across social media. Walz is being made into a folk hero. He's likable as hell and he very well might be one, but I also think there's a bit of willful ignorance involved in putting him on this pedestal.
  20. +rep, this is a phenomenal post. Thanks.
