  1. So Muhammad might bail on UT because of our win/loss this season but he is considering A&M who sits at 3-5? Makes total sense.
  2. Does it? It’s not like any of them went on to be great elsewhere. We just hired shit coaches from McWilliams, Mackovic, Strong, and Herman that did nothing after UT fired them that I know of. Mack Brown was a good not great coach who amassed talent like anybody in the country which lead to our only championship in 40 years. If Mack could have hired real coordinators during his time at UT we would have been able to get a few more possibly on top of that.
  3. I agree with everything in this post with regards to the offense and I am in no hurry to fire Sark as I think he was left with a shitty roster and is starting to rebuild it after all these years. I see really exceptional recruiting on the offensive line in the last 2 years which is great. Ewers and Manning are as good a get at the QB slots than anyone could have hoped for. Cook at WR and Baxter at RB is also really good so it looks like we are bringing in top tier talent on the offensive side of the ball. My biggest concern is the other side of the ball. We are recruiting good players but not the top tier 5 star players on defense and we will need them in order to get where we all want this program to be. As frustrated as I have been with the offense struggling in the second halves of games, in my view if we had a good defense that didn’t give up all the leads we wouldn’t be so upset with Sark’s play calling. It’s not like the offense is turning the ball over on their own 5 yard line over and over in the 4th quarter leading to the blown leads. The defense just plain sucks and we can blame PK or the players or both but that shit needs to get fixed or we will continue to lose games we shouldn’t know matter how good the offense becomes under Sark.
  4. I think Stewart leaving is the key to really fucking them up. The dude is really good and can be like a Mike Evans and just go up and get the ball on even bad passes and make any QB look better than they really are. He transfers and that offense will look like shit again next year. With him staying, there is a chance that even with Jimbo's shitty play calling they get decent production out of their O and if their D improves with all those 5 stars then they may get back to their normal 8-4 type of seasons.
  5. I sure hope Evan Stewart is first in line to GTFO of College Station. Him and a few of those stud D line would be great. Add in some kids from the current class de committing like Hicks and Hill and I for one will be in a very good mood for quite a while.
  6. Maybe Jimbo needs to start getting advice on how to treat his players from one of his assistant coaches like Durkin.
  7. If Weigman has a legitimate chance at playing pro baseball he and his family are idiots to let him play football. Being a rich baseball player is a much better life than getting a brain injury or just the overall toll on your body that football gives you. That hit he took was pretty brutal and no way did he not sustain a concussion.
  8. I got to admit that the “worlds finest chocolate” line was fantastic.
  9. Maybe it’s not weed or candy but “pouring candy into a teammates hand” is prison talk for giving another dude a handy. Then again at A&M that probably isn’t frowned upon and you get made team captain for doing that in the locker room.
  10. I really enjoy these “territory” shows so far and getting to hear all these old stories but part of me would prefer a real documentary about each territory going into the history of each area through the years and stuff like that.
  11. Just voted and the one positive of living in a predominantly Republican suburb of Dallas is they sure make it easy to vote. No lines, took about 10 minutes and I was done. Didn’t see any Beto signs out front of the polling station but lots of Abbott signs and Vote Republican to keep Texas strong signs or some shit like that. I wish my vote actually counted as my congressional rep is running against a Libertarian and sadly Abbot, Paxton et all will be re-elected because they have a R next to their name on the ballot.
  12. Just wanted to check in on all the posters on Surly to make sure you are all OK. I have been listening to the highlights from the senate debates last night and it sounds like crime is really rampant across the United States and most of us my not live to even see Election Day. I will say the Republicans are sooooo good at messaging fear it’s quite impressive. Here in N Dallas suburbs there are probably hundreds of thousands of soccer moms who will vote for Republicans in order to stop all of this rampant criminal activity going on yet none of them have been near a crime in person themselves unless you count the white collar crimes their husbands are guilty of for embezzling money to help pay for their McMansions.
  13. I think if Republicans take over they just may do that.
  14. A&M has taken this years roller coaster up a notch. I can’t even imagine what they have in store for us next but I’m looking forward to it.
  15. Since I grew up in FL this is quite appealing to me. Guessing we get some stories about Mike and Eddie Graham, Gordon Solie and Dusty Rhodes.
  16. They probably will do that and then fumble 3 times at the goal line type of shit. Listen, I hope Ole Miss drops a 50-0 game on them in College Station but somehow they usually find ways to squeak games like this out or barely lose them so they can tout how close they are.
  17. Definitely Team Black. It seems to me that they are the obvious "good guys" in this show. Aemond, Otto Hightower, etc... are definitely coming across as bad guys and rooting for them would be like rooting for the Lannister's in GOT.
  18. I think they beat Ole Miss this weekend. It's something they seem to do every year so they can get to that 8-4 record and give their fan base hope and piss me off all at the same time. It could be the typical Ole Miss turns the ball over 3-4 times and commits tons of errors and A&M somehow wins a close low scoring game.
  19. We talking African or European dragons?
  20. As a fan of both the Longhorns and the Patriots I may have a stroke tonight watching this on the heels of the Horns game this weekend. The defenses are very similar in that they both lack talent and suck.
  21. There may be a bias for Clemson to win by those refs (I really have no idea) but yes they were horrible calls so maybe incompetence was the culprit. Do you honestly chalk up OSU not having one penalty all game as just bad officiating?
  22. You do realize that if any of us were allowed to be a ref and given 4 calls where we could hurt one team over another we could pretty much get a win for the team we favored if the teams are fairly equal overall. You can't do it when Alabama plays some D3 school but you take two fairly equal teams and let a ref screw one of them on 3-4 calls and it will change the outcome of a game. We aren't even talking about "non calls" against OSU that may have killed a few of their scoring drives. Listen, UT played like shit and most likely could have or would have lost but adding in the ref bias is a really bad look for the Big 12 but it's been that way forever. I would say enjoy the refs screwing you against OU but since OU is leaving also I guess they won't do that this year.
  23. I respectfully disagree with this statement. Up 14 in the first half is not a guaranteed win for any team in the country and especially a team that has a defense that is absolute dogshit which ours has proven to be. I wouldn't trust our defense to be able to hold a 14 point lead with 2 minutes left in the game let alone the first half.
  24. The offsides and false starts we committed are obvious and stuff like that happens to a road team in a loud stadium. I would argue a few of the Pass Interference calls on us helped extend drives for OSU that lead to points and those PI calls were BS. Especially when you look at how the OSU DB's were allowed to be physical with our WR's. The holding call on Jones was a pancake and not holding and if you are going to call holding on that then OSU should have had at least 50 holding calls during the game (and you probably could have called UT for another 50 holding calls also) but the refs for some reason didn't see any of those.
