  1. Yeah, the lecturing about COVID being over from the "it was never really a problem" crowd is particularly rich.
  2. Aren't you feeling owned? Just tell him you feel owned... it'll mean so much to him.
  3. So let's say you have the opportunity to ask Ken Paxton a question. What question do you ask him? A relative's boss has given my relative the chance to go to some event of his. I doubt the relative will say anything too provocative (the boss has tickets because he's a donor, and I don't see my relative wanting to cause a problem), but they did ask me for my opinion. So far I have... "How do you sleep at night?" (But I realized the vile SOB probably sleeps better than anybody I know) "How are you going to beat Ted Cruz for biggest chode in Texas?" "What's it like constantly wasting taxpayer money on loser cases that only win you political points with the shittiest Texans?" "How did it feel standing with those wonderful Patriots as they fought against tyranny on January 6, 2021? You must feel so much pride from being in DC on that beautiful day! Speaking to the crowd, inspiring them moments before they stormed The Capitol to stop the steal?" Other ideas?
  4. Sid Miller with a brief moment of clarity? Note I know thre stimulation is just going it to fuck with us. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/04/12/sid-miller-greg-abbott-border-inspections/
  5. I am trying to figure out the point that everyone is trying to make. Yang seems like a decent enough guy. John Legend seems like a decent enough guy. I'm needing some context for Yang's initial tweet so I can understand Legend's apparent clapback. Twitter is a shit medium for context.
  6. I already knew he placed party over everything else, and I still allow it to sadden and frustrate me. Burn in Hell, Mitch McConnell.
  7. Hmmmm... 895 posts.... I ain't fer sure yet.
  8. Can you imagine being part of his team? Trying so desperately to hide his stupidity. To give it some kind of veneer of folksy wisdom, or "plain old common sense", but knowing you can't even let him debate because he's dumb as a bucket of piss. A politician can't debate because he's too fucking stupid.
  9. I'm racking my brain trying to think of a way that "George Clooney" somehow relates to an animal and a tobacco product. I got nothing so far.
  10. Don't worry guys, they'll throw the book at them when they try to vote illegally. That's when they'll get the justice we all deserve.
  11. You're mistaking being president when these things happened for being the mastermind behind those things. He was the face (I did say communicating was his strength), but he was never the brains. That goes for the good things and the bad... except the grifting. Adjusting for inflation, when it comes to grifting, he may have had Trump beat
  12. Considering the skills Nancy was rumored to have, I can forgive him listening to an astrologer at her urging.
  13. I think you're still giving Reagan too much credit. The more I learn about Reagan the more I see him as Trump with better communication skills and the ability to pick smarter (but equally shitty) people. I'm sure he distrusted the Russians, but it was just the run-of-mill Commies are bad ideology that everyone believed. I don't think he had any great insight that wasn't fed to him by his smarter (but equally shitty) underlings. TLDR - Reagan was a figurehead and a tool used by shitty people to do shitty things.
  14. You do realize this is the CRT thread? If you want to talk about failed education system start a thread for that. Or find one of the thousands of threads where this discussion has already been had.
  15. I was trying to get the discussion back on track, but based on another response directed, it doesn't sound like that's what he wants to do.
  16. So you're saying he's advocating an education curriculum that systemically funnels people of color away from subjects that may help them become better leaders as well as away from universities that could help them create networks to advance economically and socially. All this is done in the name of forcing them into occupations that limit them to mid-level positions within companies owned and run by people that are typically not people of color. He's creating a CRT case study and doesn't even know it.
  17. It's the same mindset that says Texas public education is broken, but ignores that Republicans have controlled Texas public education our entire adult lives. So of course that means we should do what the Republicans want with public education. There are plenty of places liberals miss the mark on public education, but keeping kids unequipped to think is completely a conservative phenomenon.
  18. Are we going to ignore the fact that a person with a username from a historic site is advocating that we stop teaching.... history? I mean this is the simulation fucking with us, right?
  19. There's all the response I need to know you're not a person worth taking seriously in a discussion about education. Thank you for identifying yourself quickly. Congrats on your daughter's success.
  20. I'm guessing that he's very proud of his daughter (as he should be). I'm also guessing that that pride is leading him to believe that what she's doing is THE most important endeavor in mankind's history... it's a sin every parent is guilty of. That, and a steady diet of right-wing anti-intellectualism, has gotten him to a place that he feels comfortable saying we don't need no social studies. The answer of course, is that we do need social studies, and coding, and everything else to be taught. We need to overhaul to how we educate. We wouldn't even have to reinvent that wheel. Lots of other countries do a better job at all the things we want to improve. Unfortunately, what we're going to get is this: stop doing this, do more of that. More unfortunately, the "that" is profit driven. I've said it earlier in this discussion... none of this seemed to be a problem until one of the sides decided to start funneling tax money into for-profit education.
  21. So why keep trying? I mean, what's the use of a class that teaches critical thinking when we can have another class that teaches... coding. Coding is going to cure all the world's ills. I bet he doesn't even realize that his post proves the need for better social studies education.
  22. I think of course Nate will have a redemption moment. Redemption is one of the key themes of the series. It may take a while, but Nate will come around. I just can't see them breaking from that theme even if it's prove the universal truth that some people may never be redeemed.
  23. Nevermind. I misread the post I quoted.
  24. "Some dude is winning women's swimming trophies, and you're still worried about Trump?"
