  1. What about a run-of-the-mill asshole, totally non-tyrant like Desantis? How would you react if one state legislature over rules the people in support of their party's guy.
  2. Just wait until the marches start when state legislatures install a Rep president after they lost the popular vote and the electoral college. He'll be back... if he isn't too busy shooting the protesters.
  3. Never underestimate an idiot's desire to have his child be just a stupid as he is. Seriously, they'll gladly send their kid to a shitty private school if it means owning the libs or getting God into the curriculum.
  4. @Brisketexan ?
  5. Well before they could play performative politics with Roe. Now that the dog caught that car they have to find something else to *say* they're going to do until their forced to actually do it, then they'll move onto the next thing.
  6. I disagree, this kind of cruelty can only be done by true believers. I doubt there's big money behind all of this. This is creating America in their own image shit. It's personal to them.
  7. Uh, Dan Patrick, Greg Abbott... this is more about people trying to work with their mandates than some whitewashing asshole in the TEA. Not that there aren't plenty of assholes in TEA.
  8. So this is the trickle down of the state's attempt to shield students from topics that make them "feel discomfort". I'm guessing the group that was discussing this and floated this language was trying to think of a way to define slavery for 2nd graders without making them feel discomfort. So here we are. And Abbott wonders why teachers are leaving.

  11. I think we're all learning just how useful Trump has been to Mitch McConnell. They played Trump like a fiddle, got their justices, and now they're gonna throw Trump under the bus. One day Trump will realize it too, but I doubt it. If only Trump could sway his cult to turn on McConnell, but that ain't happening.
  12. So wouldn't the founders' opposition to slavery (they know it's wrong) juxtaposed with their reliance on slavery (they did it anyway) mean they were awful people? Or is that too much critical thinking?
  13. Don't care; owned Libs. Seriously, the people in Belton and Marshall don't care about attracting anybody to Texas, much less "those kinds of people". Qualifications be damned. Besides, that's a problem for the big cities. Hell, the people of Midland and Baytown don't care as long as O&G is paying out. How am I farther out on the ledge than you on this?
  14. You mean like the people that already tried it and have had nothing happen to them?
  15. More splosions in Texas City!
  16. Well if Johnny Sack says so. He's pretty highly regarded around here. Your meth is showing.
  17. Only for one side, they do.
  18. So what I'm hearing is that not only do we get to experience the worst President in US History, we're may also get to experience the worst SCOTUS?
  19. What would an asshole do? That's what we're doing.
  20. Must not that "well known" if icono can't even name the school.
  21. Dorothy tchookem IS A SAINT!
  22. I just had a discussion with my mom who hates Trump, but thinks both sides are awful about an article in the Liberty, Texas newspaper. The article was about Operation Lone Star filing in the "gaps" left by Biden's failed border policy. Her thought was that it's just a small town paper, it can't be THAT slanted. My mom is a smart lady that sincerely wants what's best for everyone, but after years of my having my stepdad's FoxNews in the background, I'm afraid some is seeping in.
  23. People, people... The Constitution doesn't say anything about women testifying to Congress. Checkmate Libs.
  24. I'm not sure criminal penalties are the problem, so much as access. They won't have to prosecute women, they just close the clinics. Can't get (safe) abortions if there aren't clinics to provide them.
  25. Son just got out of isolation after testing positive. We had just returned from 18 hours in the car together. Wife and I tested negative, but have both felt pretty shitty, so we're pretty certain we had it at dinne point. I'm not angry because we got COVID. We let our guard down on this trip. I walked into a packed South Carolina Buc-ee's without my mask half-joking in my head, "yeah, this will be where I catch COVID". For 2.5 years we did everything we were supposed to do to avoid getting and spreading COVID, and the second we slacked off, we got it. Luckily we're not feeling too sick and if do the hospitals aren't overwhelmed anymore. But what this all tells me, is just how easy it is to catch and spread this thing. It also tells me, that it's completely possible to avoid catching and spreading this thing. So for 2.5 years my family did everything we were supposed to do to avoid catching and spreading COVID. I wore a mask, my son wore a mask, my wife stayed home. We did our part. Meanwhile so many other Americans did NOTHING to avoid COVID... and 1 Million people died. That makes me angry.
