  1. And at Orange Tree, Tri Towers, Garden Gate, and at all the fraternity houses. Pretty much everywhere in West Campus. That happens a lot in college.
  2. Lol. I saw a show in the last month or two that had some relatively (last several years) recently declassified interviews from the 40’s or early 50’s with several of the people in Hitler’s bunker on that last day. They might even have been around the time of the Nuremberg trials. They were the lower level staff—not the generals or SS officers. I’m sure they were all lying. [sarcasm]
  3. So, did he escape to Argentina?
  4. This should be obvious, but lawyers these days need to be careful about sharing their screen in video conferences/court appearances. The bankruptcy courts in Houston are very good with video conferencing and sharing your screen is often required when presenting witnesses/evidence. Whether you are using your firm's laptop/desktop or your own computer at home, you have to be careful what's on your desktop, or what might pop up on your desktop, at all times. It's best to close all other programs and suspend all notifications. Some notifications I get from certain friends would not go over well if they popped up in open court.

  10. By good as new, I was referring to the sauce pans. They are pretty much spotless after 30 years of use. The SS fry pans will develop a nice patina if you let them. Otherwise, the Bartender's stuff will get them back to looking brand new if that is your preference.
  11. Whatever you do, don’t skimp on quality. High quality cookware will last a lifetime. We’ve had our All-clad stainless for 30 years and they are like new. We bought the standard 10 piece set and we use them all. I’ve added another 3 quart sauce pan and two sizes of nonstick skillets, a ceramic coated dutch oven, a wok, and that’s it.
  12. Your Surly name does not check out.

  14. A major problem for the youngsters is that the vast majority of the classic old films are in black and white. My kids are 25 and 28 years old and they've always had a hard time with black and white films. They have some kind of prejudice that prevents them from staying interested long enough to appreciate the filmmaking. They pretty much admit it. Growing up, we had a black and white TV until I was maybe 9 or 10 years old and I suspect we were typical of most families. Black and white is not an immediate turn off for old people like it seems to be for the kids.
  15. No way this is a serious post. Right?

  17. It’s high quality. I’ve tried many of them over the years and it’s one of the better ones. It should be for what it costs.
  18. We don’t have road bikes but we have been doing spinning classes for about 15 years. Depending on where you spin, long term, the cost may not be a huge deal. The live videos were fabulous and I’m looking forward to their return. You really do get the sense of being in the studio. With our fitness clubs being closed we use it even more. But yes, if you haven’t been into working out, I wouldn’t spend the money.
  19. Can’t believe I left this one out: Strasser: My impression was that he’s just another blundering American. Renault: We mustn’t underestimate American blundering. I was with them when they blundered into Berlin in 1918. Did the Union stop showing the old classics? If you went to UT in the 80’s there’s no excuse for not seeing movies like Casablanca. They were $1.
  20. Big Peloton fan here. The non-cycling work out videos are a nice plus.
  21. The Peter Bognanovich interview after the film was interesting. His take that the movies were better in the old days when the actors were under contract with the studios was, IMO, right on. Other favorite lines/situations: Rick: I'll have Sam play 'As Time Goes By", I believe that's your favorite song." Ilsa: (walking away, pissed) Thank you. Capt. Renault: We are filling out the report now. We haven't quite decided whether he committed suicide or died trying to escape. Ferrari: I shall remember to pay it. . . to myself. The pick-pocket: This place is full of vultures. Vultures everywhere. Man in white suit: I've left my wallet in the hotel. The pick-pocket bumps into Karl. Karl immediately checks his pockets, nods, and then goes back to work. Ferrari: As the leader of all illegal activities in Casablanca, I am an influential and respected man.
