  2. I started doing these polls circa 2007 or so. I've kept the poll answers the same to allow for direct comparisons to previous results. It's not a perfect poll, but you are getting what you have paid for. I think those would commonly be understood as in the same family as "liberal". Also, see my comment above. I'm not trying to disenfranchise you.
  3. It's been a few years since the last one. A legend for folks who haven't seen my previous polls: Republican = Party partisan Democrat = Party partisan Libertarian (big L) = Party partisan conservative = ideologue generally aligned with GOP liberal = ideologue generally aligned with Dems libertarian (small l - classical liberal) = ideologue that has liberty issues as paramount (could vote any party) moderate/independent = undefined - if you self identify as this, please tell us what it means to you
  4. Person 1: Most of the employees at Widget Emporium have been discriminatory towards me on numerous occasions. Widget Emporium has a business culture of discrimination. Person 2: Employees at Widget Emporium have never been discriminatory towards me. Your statement isn't true. I don't avoid it. I post there when there is a topic or discussion that interests me enough. ~~~ @Imma - I appreciate the impact of the ads (and ad removal) on the site's engagement. I don't believe that is the full story with the state of discourse in the CR right now though.
  5. Yes. It's true within the framework of my experience. YMMV.
  6. "I will not apologize for my tone tonight!" ~~~ There are a number of (former) members who have figuratively stepped on their dicks while participating in the CR. They are reaping what they have sewn. This is true. There are a number of members here who ... react unreasonably ... to attempts at honest discourse in the CR. It is beyond difficult and not worth the effort in most cases to attempt discussion with a large body of the community there any more. This is also true (IMO).

  8. Baylor QB was limping around like he gimped his ankle.
  9. Texas is just getting started. They settling down (both teams) and Texas will impose their will on Baylor.
  10. It's a statement about the subject appraisal of "value" and how folks who don't see it, don't get it.
  11. Gold is a "barbaric relic" yet central banks still buy and hold it.

  13. Also... Not sure how the surly email is configured, but I for one would not mind receiving a monthly (off season) or weekly (football season) surlyhorns (plain text, not html) email "newsletter" with sponsorships (text ads) in it.
  14. The ads were cpmplete aids for any lurkers/visitors browsing the site on a mobile device. I suspect the simple act of removing them is going to increase traffic on the site. Non-invasive (banner or sticky thread) advertising for sponsorships would be my suggestion as it doesn't curb interest in the site from visitors.
