  1. Blossom Puzzle, March 22 Letters: A E N V R S T My score: 276 points My longest word: 10 letters 💮 🌺 🌹 💐 🌸 🌻 🌷 🌼 🏵 💮 Play Blossom: https://www.merriam-webster.com/games/blossom-word-game I didn't notice how the scoring worked with the bonus/gold letter until I'd already played a few words.
  2. Wordle 641 4/6 ⬜⬜🟨⬜🟩 ⬜⬜⬜🟩🟩 ⬜⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 The clues from my guesses didn't help much. I knew top left was one of two words, so I tried a wild guess on top right to use one of the two possible letters. My guess failed, but gave me the info I needed to complete the puzzle.
  3. Fraud should be defined by statute and policed accordingly. Entire industries should not be nuked because of the actions of a few bad actors or because POTUS wants to persecute them. Fret not. I'm sure some asshat Republican will win the White House in the future and enjoy this new power the Dems have built and target industries on their shit list (dispensaries, abortion clinics, etc.). I'll still be bitching about it then if I'm still around.
  4. Why didn't someone create a new thread for TOC 4? Can we change the thread title? Chefs last episode were multitasking like crazy. Working 8 things at once (or so it seemed). The judges were really critical. While I can respect bringing in accomplished chefs to judge, if they have never tried their hand at competition cooking, I don't think they really have the proper perspective/framework to appreciate how much the clock limits chefs from concept to execution to plating.
  5. Anyone here using this? https://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-crazy-retirement-portfolio-has-just-beaten-wall-street-for-50-years-11672945313 https://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-idiot-proof-portfolio-has-beaten-traditional-stocks-and-bonds-over-50-years-11652463679
  6. The Eye of Sauron isn't a Republican or Dem issue. That's just the lens you choose to see it with Wildcat09. The architecture of financial armageddon might one day target an industry (or many for that matter) that you care about. The financial system should not be a tool for the Executive Branch to effect political persecution. I guess folks won't care about this until CBDCs have replaced the existing system and the debanking folks or the threat of it to coerce behavior becomes trivial.

  8. Not sure why the Credit Suisse story isn't being discussed here, but... https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/credit-suisse-tells-staff-plans-investment-banking-be-informed-later-memo-2023-03-20/ I mean, it's like they want to spark a bank run.
  9. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Choke_Point Operation Choke Point is a weapon used by the Executive Branch to debank any industry they don't like. It's antithetical to the American ethos. And it's going to get much, much worse when we move into the new world order of CBDCs (central bank digital currencies). The wiki page above talks about Operation Choke Point in the past tense as if it's a done deal, but Federal regulators are working hard right now to debank crypto markets in the USA. The Eye of Sauron lives on. https://www.kitco.com/news/2023-03-10/Senators-say-regulators-are-de-banking-the-crypto-sector-in-America.html Letter: https://www.hagerty.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Hagerty-Chokepoint-Letter-FINAL.pdf https://www.kitco.com/news/2023-03-15/Rep-Emmer-accuses-the-U-S-government-of-colluding-to-cut-off-crypto-from-the-banking-industry.html https://www.fdic.gov/news/press-releases/2023/pr23021.html FDIC has split off and debanked Signature's crypto clients. 10. Wordle 640 3/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 🟩🟩⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Finally. Been too long since I got it in 3. 11. WSJ sees Operation Choke Point for what it is. https://www.wsj.com/articles/signature-bank-new-york-community-bancorp-flagstar-bank-crypto-barney-frank-fdic-9b825e2e
  12. Mechanical Violator Hakaider It has the pretense of Blade Runner esqe allegory in a tale of Japanese Terminator versus Japanese Robocop. The special effects made us laugh. The acting is terrible. It's a glorious hunk of cheese. Available for streaming on Prime Video currently.
  13. Top chef should either go with a NASCAR style season points system or go with blind judging ala TOC.
  14. On the flip side, there is another story still developing along the lines of the OP: https://www.goldback.com/
  15. Wikipedia has a decent page on the story I mentioned above: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_dollar_(private_currency)
  16. To be fair, she can probably swing at least 3 mulligans from Tom if she pouts or flutters her eyelashes or some shit.
  17. @David Busters - I'm on my phone right now, so I'm not going to compose a long form response for you, but your thread touches on issues that I hold dear, so for now I'm going to offer you a link to a cautionary tale. The link does not encompass the whole story, but provides enough information for anyone with a rudimentary level of Google-Fu to chase down rabbit holes: https://www.usmint.gov/news/press-releases/20060914-liberty-dollars-not-legal-tender-united-states-mint-warns-consumers
  18. Have read the first 3 posts. Going to need an IP check. Dave Buster is really a Sidis sock teasing me with his idea of red meat, right?
  19. Sees Bat Signal, sees thread title, sees that thread is 3 pages long ... wonders WTF is happening here... Will read thread and carefully consider my options* * not a market/trading joke I'm a lover, not a ... Well, I'm a lover anyway.
  20. Adar claimed he killed Sauron. He may have thought he killed Sauron, but I didn't get the impression that he had ever confirmed that. It's been a while, and my memory isn't crystal on this point, but I got a James Bond villian - I put James in a situation where certain death would come and walked away - kind of vibe from Adar's tale. It's more that he expected Sauron must be dead than any actual proof that he perished.
  21. Some animals should not be more equal than others.
  22. I think you have misunderstood my posts. "lack of government intervention" is not what has irked me on this issue. Quite the opposite.
  23. FDIC effectively split off and debanked their crypto clients. Operation Choke Point is in full effect and the peanut gallery is cheering. Surly leftists sure love them some Eye of Sauron when it targets folks they don't like.
