  1. it's a win for everybody as long as it's paid for (tax reform stays part of it). if it's going to add a shit ton to the debt, like trump did, then we should trim it down.
  2. someone should realize that thread is for beer all over the world, and this one is specific to austin. asswipe.
  3. i have tried all the heavens door offerings, and they are all decent but not noteworthy. i try everything once.
  4. why is "none" not an option? poll is flawed.
  5. forgot to mention ive been to circle and pinthouse (north and the original). hi sign is off 71, right? near live oak? 4th tap sounds like my next destination.
  6. i heard compadre's ist kaput. that was the closest one to me. next closest is bluebonnet, which i've been to. recommend me a good one to hit up please. been to 512, live oak, abw, abgb, celis.
  7. havent been in awhile. they still have the same gamey, southwestern style menu, similar to ranch 616, so i thought it was worth throwing out there. ranch 616 is louder and rowdier, more of a bar scene but with great food. contigo might be the closest to this.
  8. gayle sayers and wilt chamberlain. possibly the two best players to ever play the top two sports in america.
  9. i dont support this one bit so will be smoking meth if this happens. bourbon isnt strong enough. the only way we should should join is if its more a merging, and rebranding. as long as its called the sec, i'm out. i wont be a fan of anything sec-related.
  10. havent shopped in over a month. all my shelves are full and i'm starting to keep bottles on the floor. i decided to burn through a few before i head out again. i know i'm missing some good releases but oh well.

  12. nice pics. which slot canyons did you do? last time i was there i only had time to do one and it was off the same road the wave trailhead was on, which is also the same road the condor viewing site at vermillion cliffs is on. we entered the wave lottery all four mornings we were there and no luck. what a joke that is.
  13. contigo suerte foreign and domestic odd duck el naranjo roaring fork
  14. hudsons on the bend is the first place that comes to mind. a little pricier than 616 and farther out, but better atmosphere. i'm sure i can think of a place with great food and a quintessential austin vibe so let me dwell on it.
  15. for cocktails, zinc is right across the street from the westin. they're known as a champagne bar, but i've had some pretty tasty martinis and prickly pear margaritas there.
  16. rip, parkers, hancocks, etl, ec18, weller 12, blantons, and all the rest.
  17. needed to open some bottles last weekend so had a nice little tasting: old elk wheated single barrel store pick from houston filibuster dual cask ironroot promethian iron smoke cask strength this was the order i tasted them in and the order i would rank them in from best to worst. the last two had something off-putting in the finish. i want to say there is some apple in one of their processes that i did not like.
  18. Why not both? sign up for the star party at a date you think you can make, and do the viewing in the meantime. there is no substitute for the star party. you have to do it one of these days.
  19. disagree. this is another witch hunt and waste of time. nothing will come of this. i would like to see more justice done to those that breached the capitol, and i would like to have seen the conservatives take more ownership and accountability for this, but that aint happening. this event is not sticking to them like it should and that's a shame.
  20. great episode. if that had been the finale shota would be top chef. he's got one more opportunity. it was interesting that they all three left something out. potatoes are practically flavorless so i cant imaging they would have added more to the dish. she was already getting rave review and should have kept her lips sealed.
  21. it's quite possible neither party ever has 60 senators again. that means we're in gridlock forever. the only way a president can effect change in this scenario is by executive order. so that's where we are for as far as the eye can see.
  22. in the finale, they usually bring back past, booted, contestants from the season as sous chefs to help out. dawn is not a delegator, cant communicate her vision to a team, and doesn't even seem to formulate it in advance for a team to help, so cant see her doing well in that setting. she is best alone it appears. maybe she will change and win it. it's going to be great no matter what. three great chefs specializing in three completely different styles of food - japanese, mexican, and southern.
  23. i hear ya. stagg jr is 8-9 yrs, vs 12, plus i prefer the wheated mashbill to the #1 of the stagg jr. also, i found out julian van winkle carries around a flask of weller 12, and i figure he knows his bourbon.
