  1. why do they call it the nevers? why didn't they call it the touched? i dont get the nevers part yet.
  2. fusion or discovery 4? watch your step youngster. i've never cared for remus or any of the mgp juices, and have been pretty impressed with both of the bardstown series so far, at least the ones i've tried.
  3. mare's mom playing a game on her ipad was one of the best scenes of the movie. she's doing a bang up job acting on this show so far. was glad to see mare's limp had miraculously healed. so much so that she even put on heels this episode.
  4. do you live there? if so, for how long? i used to go every october for about 11 years for an anniversary trip, but that ended with the marriage. its been probably 10 years and none of the places you mentioned were around then. does rebecca rather have anything going there now? she had two great places at one time, and i always thought she was a star.
  5. the taste is not much different, maybe less saltier than east coast. it's the size i like. if i'm going to pay $2+ for one stinking oyster i want it to have more volume than a tablespoon.
  6. well yeah, those guys are clearly coming for our jobs.
  7. episode 2 really kicked it up a notch. agree with the poster that mentioned how cold mare is. she calls her daughter 15 times without answering and the first thing she says when she sees her isnt are you okay, or where have you been, or i was worried about you. it was why didnt you tell me you were at the woods last night? totally self-absorbed.
  8. reminds me a little of Your Honor, the bryan cranston series on showtime, as far as fucked up crime family drama goes.
  9. oak liquor had a store pick last time i was in there. i killed it quickly. it was good for a texas bourbon.
  10. maybe there's a reason gulf oysters are some of the largest in the world. there's a lot of food there for them to filter out. apalachicola bay had for a long time the best tasting, most sought after oysters until that fishery died out. nothing wrong with gulf oysters. in fact, i prefer them to all the east coast, west coast, japanese, and european ones ive tasted.
  11. my biggest complaint of the show so far is that fake limp of mare's. they should have had her just run out of wind instead of an ankle injury. i'm not sure i can watch her limp around for another episode.
  12. she is hot for sure. they are doing their best to keep her from looking that way in this show, which is well and good. this east coast, working class, southie kinda life doesnt look good in any movie or show.
  13. so you're for abolishing the police unions?
  14. to each his own. i dont like skin on fish. that's there the fishy taste comes from.
  15. the eye clearness is a good test, as is the redness of the gills. third test is smell. heb does a great job of time stamping and quality control so i'm sure it's good. its easy to skin a snapper. no need to scale it.
  16. because it's mgp?
  17. yeah, i didnt word that right. those three $25-30 kentucky bourbons are better quality than any texas bourbon other than garrisons. i only meant that when see a texas bourbon on the shelf you have the same meh response as when you see those three.
  18. had to go almost to page three to find a thread about immigration. i'm being told there is a border crisis. is there a border crisis?
  19. what do you mean? they are harvesting oysters in galveston and matagorda bays. last i heard only half the areas are closed in galveston bay to let them grow up to size.
  20. he's missing about 20 from his texas bourbon collection. i'm in the minority on this board in thinking texas bourbons aren't terrible, they just arent noteworthy. i would rate them with any of the value kentucky bourbons like elijah craig, buffalo trace, or makers mark. they're good for $25-30.
  21. agreed. it would take a case of the right two to equal one bottle of the left two.

i lived near 33rd and guadalupe for many years during the 80's. hillberts on 33rd and lamar was a staple at my place, at least twice a week i picked up or they delivered. yes, owner is a fantastic guy, and his whole family worked there. his daughter was running the cameron location last time i was there.
  23. I tried Wild June a few years ago and it was absolutely horrible. And I thought I celebrated gin's entire catalog. i didnt think it was horrible, but it was nothing noteworthy. i would put it up there with the waterloo and revolution local gins. i had to try it since ft davis is near and dear to my heart, and she was working at the mcdonald observatory i believe was the story. i supported her cause with one purchase. actually two, her other one is called checkerbark and i bought that one too. tasted the same as wild june to me.
  24. why not just keep cucumbers in your fridge? i do keep multiple bottles of gin in my house, and have bought a couple of hendricks in the past (the regular and the orbium), i just dont foresee buying it again.
