  1. We had our first 3-month old in our first apartment in Honolulu. The people upstairs were having a small party and watching SNL, and they were laughing and having a good time. I was totally sleep deprived (3-month old will do that to you) and the noise was drifting into our apartment. As anyone with an infant knows, your decision-making is pretty well fucked after several nights of bad sleep and general exhaustion. So I stormed upstairs, knocked on the door, and really let them have it. I mean I was a real dick about it. They quieted down but honestly they weren't even doing anything wrong in the first place. I went upstairs the next day after getting some decent sleep and apologized. The guy wasn't super excited to see me again, but I didn't blame him. I still feel bad about that, but at least now I have some empathy for new parents and all of the shit they have to deal with.
  2. Agreed, but it's hard for me to fault somebody's decision-making in that split second. Seems like a natural instinct to just start running. I say that because I probably would've just pissed myself in a frozen position and then gotten obliterated. That cop needs to be grateful for every minute he has going forward in his life.
  3. BJ Foster has a motor that won't quit, you should expect to see him give 110% on every play
  4. For some reason the occasion to use that line spoken in that voice comes up a lot in my life. I use it frequently.
  5. Admitted thrash apologist here, but I think these guys are fucking great. Breakdown at 2:43 is a neck crusher:
  6. I love traveling -- just got back from a family trip to see our son in Croatia -- but getting back into your own bed after extended time away is a special slice of heaven.
  7. The day is young
  8. You mean within the last couple of days?
  9. Burning trash out back behind the house. Family vacations were by car to visit family in Beaumont. Never stayed in a hotel or a motel until I was in college, unless I went on vacation with friends. My dad remodeling our house in south Austin on a hillside and using cinder blocks to prop up the master bedroom and living room.
  10. "Applebees or Noodles and Co?" "Thanks, turns out I forgot to pretend that I have work out early tomorrow morning."
  11. "I'm not wasting much time on this on my Sunday evening..." /Proceeds to write six paragraphs
  12. My pick is Hedberg, but the also-ran list is strong: Carlin, Norm, Shandling, David Brenner, Rodney When Steve Martin eventually dies, he will be tops on my list. All-time fave.
  13. Weaver is that player that other teams can't stand. I love that he's coming back. Immediately my favorite player on next year's roster.
  14. Yes, you're right -- 3rd in the Southern, losing his last three by an average of 14 points. I mean I know Alberts is a top-shelf dipshit, but going down the list of potential candidates that far really is pathetic even by their standards.
  15. If you want a zip line adventure with that extra bit of "are we sure they have this set up correctly?" adrenaline vibe, zip line in Albania. Sort of a combo of exhilaration and relief that you didn't actually die. And the new one they put in Dubai is really incredible from an adrenaline perspective. But the one in that video is beyond anything I've ever seen, much less ridden.
  16. Let Sark know, that's probably the last piece of intel they need to make their decision
  17. G650 just dunked on chatgpt, and gloriously so.
  18. Exactly. Friend of mine just turned 40 and is in a walking boot for 4-6 weeks after walking off of a curb the wrong way. With age comes wisdom....and humiliation.
  19. Vic Shafer is the truth and his team is confident, ready to play anyone and beat their ass.
  20. As a psychologist, 100% cosign with this. Anxiety-related disorders (including phobias) can be treated really effectively. As for Christmas lighting, just forget lights and install Jellyfish lighting or the like. I don't have a fear of heights but why put yourself in a hazardous situation? Also, badass that you were a firefighter. Major props.
