  1. Walmart has 40 lb bags for $7.29. Academy store-brand corn is $7.99 for 40.
  2. The SCW guys define it as the "first day with an overnight temperature reading of 65 or below at IAH" Based on historical data (for Houston area), it typically occurs no earlier than 9/1 and no later than 10/15, with the average date being ~9/20.
  3. Blastfurnace looks to be on cruise control the rest of the month. Weather gods set the thermostat to 100 and sunny and then headed out on a long vacation.
  4. Dubon wanted to get home. GIDP facing a position player, lol.
  5. It's a Boston Massacre!
  6. Brother and I decided to take a quick trip up to our lease tomorrow morning, mostly for shits and giggles. Gonna clear out some brush and put a few sacks of corn in the feeders at the new stands we set up back in June, but otherwise just gonna drink beer, ride around in the UTV, and enjoy the countryside. Have a proper work weekend scheduled for mid-September where we'll head out with some of other guys and get everything else ready for the Fall and also do a little dove hunting since the watering hole actually has water for a change.
  7. Was starting to think I was gonna be the latest sufferer posting in this thread. Just got back from a long vacation on Tuesday, featuring several flights and train rides the last 2 weeks. Woke up fine yesterday and got a good workout in. On the way into work started dragging ass. Achy, fatigued, but pretty mild and powered through the day. Really started feeling puny on the drive home. Feverish, mild headache...etc.. Got home around 6:30, hopped on the upstairs couch and immediately passed the fuck out until about 10:30. Woke up drenched in sweat, chugged a bunch of water and then crawled into bed. Slept like a fucking rock the next 8 hours. Woke up around 6:30 this morning, very groggy, but otherwise fine. Still a little low energy this morning but all other symptoms have resided. Either I got lucky with mildest case of 'rona or it was something else entirely.
  8. Caratini GIDP with 2 on, 0 out was a killer. Meyers put good contact on the ball and would have been an easy sac fly, but don't mean shit with 2 outs.
  9. Hader will be coming in for the 9th quite taxed. Insurance run or 5 would be nice.
  10. Sunlight loss is starting to get a little more noticeable. Only 10 more days of sunset after 8 pm in Houston area. Today: Sunrise 6:45, Sunset 8:09 8/21: Sunrise 6:53, Sunset 7:55
  11. Spent the last 12 days in Europe. Don't think I experienced a temperature above 88 at any point. Just got back yesterday evening. Glad to see I got back just in time to catch the 3 hottest days of the entire Summer (thus far).
  12. Glad I stumbled on this thread over the weekend. Wife and I are leaving for a big Europe trip on Thursday and will be spending the 2nd half of the trip in Switzerland. Couple of nights in Lucerne and then a quick train trip out to Interlakken and/or Grindelwald for a bit. Last stop is Geneva for a day or two and then return flight home.
  13. Goddamnit. It all came down to Martinez coming with 2 outs and coughing up 3.
  14. I'm feeling greedy. Stomp on their throats.
  15. M's fans are down bad. From the replies on their team account.
  16. Won a game against SEA started by Kirby, who has a sub 1.5 ERA vs. Astros, to secure a series win and first place. Life is good.
  17. It's not weeks straight of triple digits and zero chance of rain. It's an improvement.
  18. Was quite nice to take the dogs on a walk this morning and not get back home drenched in sweat. Current forecast through the end of July is basically the exact opposite of last Summer. At this point in July 2023, we were already a few weeks into the seemingly never-ending stretch of brutal heat and drought at this point last year and didn't finally catch a break until the middle of September.
  19. Ronel Blanco and Hunter Brown leading the Summer Surge. A guy named "Tayler" getting signed for league minimum after being waived for the 5th time and being arguably the best 6th inning guy in MLB. . Pressly loses the closer job and looks like a washed-up turd through Memorial Day. Comes back from the dead and becomes an untouchable 8th inning setup man. Offense finally hits its stride after our MVP-contender who was raking goes down for 2 months. Just like we all drew it up.
  20. 6 scoreless. Good job son.
  21. CR warning. Thank God our industry is privatized.
  22. Depressing story out of Beaumont, but at least a happy ending. Old man commits suicide by cop, leaves a note asking for his dog to be taken care of. Hundreds of people immediately offered to adopt and he already has a new home and new brother. https://www.12newsnow.com/article/news/local/man-fatally-shot-by-police-leaves-behind-note-asking-dog-be-taken-care-of/502-2952a1c3-35c1-4f14-9f7a-a59e8a9cbe88
