  1. Would the “Eyes of Texas Blvd” be more or less offensive?
  2. It was right there under our noses all along. “The eyes” “upon you” is clearly a metaphor for Johnny Plantation watching over his slaves. And, ”do not think you can escape...”. <shudder>.
  3. This country should have very little patience for DAs who refuse to admit their mistakes -or worse- double down on their stupidity. I hope that Montana DA is voted out of office so quickly his head spins. Or better yet, gets the Ken Krainz treatment and the ugly not-so-ethical parts of his life are exposed.
  4. Chinese. Definitely gonna be the Chinese.
  5. Quoted for great pics. Where were Fiesta and Capri located?
  6. A restaurant which opened last week? Really?
  7. A few more for the north-of-the-river peeps courtesy of the Austin Skyscraper page: Koenig looking towards Lamar in 1937 The silo and farmhouse in the background are approximately where P. Terrys stands today.
  8. El Arroyo - Holy hell, this place has had a dramatic fall from over the past few years. Aside from the iconic sign and the nostalgia factor, what more do they do well? I can’t imagine they’re long for this world. Kerbey Lane - Good queso, average breakfast. Everything else is forgettable. Guerros - No explanation needed. That’s not mexican food. What say you?
  9. Whoever said Matt’s food is a solid B is exactly right. It’s a very consistent “good” restaurant. Atmosphere and patio are A+ though. Still find myself there at least 1-2x/month despite living north of the river. And Maudie’s? Talk about a place which has fallen hard over the past 3-4 years.
  10. Sheeeeet. Sorry- I had been drinking. Actually, I still kinda am.
  11. I don’t see it on Netflix?
  12. A classic CoA move. I'd be livid if I was the developer. The same five members who failed to show up are probably the same five who bitch about lack of housing options in the city. https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/news/2018/04/11/more-delays-for-grove-at-shoal-creek-development.html
  13. “I’m not wearing my bio-med sensors Houston.” My favorite movie ever.
  14. Well, that’s about the most Erlich Bachman thing I’ve ever read.
  15. Def give S2 a try. It departs almost completely from the noir style of S1 and gets much “brighter” (and much more action/shootouts).
  16. Grand Velas RM is one of the best AAs in North America. Not cheap but the food and service are incredible. It’s a huge resort which site on almost 100acres so it can be 90%+ occupied and you can still go 20-30 mins at a time without seeing anyone.
  17. Thanks for the heads up. Look like a Chicago is ep #2. Huge fan of the A.A. series but they’ve about run out of content. Never heard of Aerial Africa but it airs directly after Aerial Cities.
  18. Is ABIA about to overtake Love as the 3rd busiest airport in Texas?
  19. Looks like something from The Dark Knight.
  20. Thanks for doing the PVille. Where Sasquatch be?
  21. Love this stuff. It’s amazing how many people are traveling though ABIA. Every month seems to be a new record. If I recall correctly, we weren’t expected to hit our numbers until the early-mid 2020s. Likewise, I’ll never understand the constant desire to have rail to an airport. Outside of perhaps a stadium or arena on gamedays, you’ll find a greater contingent of cabs, taxis, busses, etc. at the airport than any other place in the city. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait more than 3-4 minutes for a ride at a major US airport. Why has there been such a pressing need for a third runway? Heathrow, Gatwick, Dubai and a dozen+ other international airports operate with two or less runways and each have exponentially more traffic than ABIA.
  22. Yep. Similar to the San Diego video a few months back. Basically a bunch of long-term Navy vets stating they’ve seen some shit while flying which defies anything they’ve known to exist. Pretty interesting.
  23. Damn, I had no idea the ratings were so low.
