It has been a few since an update. I am now 9 weeks without any alcohol. Starting to really understand this sobriety thing. More focus, energy, more wanting to do things with the family and the wife. I did not understand it while drinking but life really is better without booze. And that is kind of not easy to admit. Drinking going on around me does not bother me as much as I thought it would. I have not dropped the amount of weight I thought I would, but meh, it will be fine.
Some of the accomplishments I have had. Been to a bar for a friends birthday, I did not drink or feel like drinking at all. Wife went out of town and left me here with nothing but time to myself, no drinking, but got shit done around the home and property. Had a real deep and difficult discussion/argument with he wife. Did not run off to the bottle. We both recovered very well. Wife still has the occasional glass of wine, it does not bother me. She has climbed on board and even cut back on that to show support for me. It is not necessary, but I do appreciate it. End of this month I am headed up to Dallas for the guitar show with some old friends. Should be interesting since I won't be drinking. But I am positive both they and myself can handle it.
