  1. would be pretty obvious if you had been doing him a solid in his pool.
  2. ........borrowing Captain Ron's thread title from last year. League Cup starts tomorrow. Tuesday Gillingham vs Southampton Wrexham vs Wigan Wednesday Leeds vs Shrewsbury Burton vs Leicester
  3. Sheffield Wed 1 -2 Southampton Whole new style of play implemented by new manager Russel Martin.. Possession football on steroids. Southampton had 78% possession and played nearly a 1000 passes. after the go ahead goal - Southampton played keep away ball for the final 12 minutes - i don't think SheffWed even touched the ball. Crazy. We had our usual set piece cockup defensively JWProwse played despite W. Ham rumors. Lavia did not play. Liverpool seem inevitable eventually. Still not a lot of cutting edge or finishing in the final third. important to start off on the right foot and bank those 3 points. Hey, i get to celebrate a win.. that hasnt happened a whole lot in the last few years. but overall impressed with what Martin has installed in just 5 weeks. On to the Carabao Cup Tuesday.
  4. so first impressions of the Championship and following a club that has been relegated. It a weird watch and will take some getting used to. I literally know nothing about the opponent they are playing. You don't recognize any opponent's players, you dont know who is the offensive threat, who is their jerk player for you to loathe, hard to muster up any animosity toward them other than you want your team to win. it is almost like watching a friendly. you PL types are going to notice big rule changes this year Going to be a lot of stoppage time added... in yesterday's Saints match there was 6 added minutes in the first half, 9 minutes in the second half. yellow cards were given if more than 2 players crowded around a ref looking to foul grub. no VAR is glorious -- oops PL still has it. I am going to miss Peacock's PL coverage.. pregame, half time highlights, post game stuff, League news. No offerings like that for Championship watchers.. just watch the game and that is it.
  5. Yep. Saints not getting all of that £40m unfortunately. We could really use it. I doubt Chelsea will even notice it added to their coffers.
  6. It's all very strange. I know nothing about the other teams/players in the League. And It's going to take more effort/money/time to be a supporter this year. I have taken a lot of things for granted the last 10 years. I hope it's only a 1 year stay for Saints.
  7. got to squeeze in 6 more league matches than EPL + playoffs (I know you know that)
  8. 23/24 Season starts today at 2pm Sheffield Wednesday v. Southampton ESPN+
  9. holy shit
  10. As they should be.. check out these vocals from Kim Shattuck ( 0:21 , 0:54 , 1:26, 2:15 )
  11. holy shit - Newcastle has the cash. £40m for Tino Livramento? Saints bought him for £5m two years ago. He didn't even play last year due to an ACL injury. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/aug/03/newcastle-agree-deal-to-sign-full-back-tino-livramento-from-southampton
  12. All good. Let's hope for an entertaining match!
  13. ughhh.. life the Championship. been doing research.. to be able to watch all Saints matches this season it is going to cost me. $315 $100 espn+ $215 "SaintsPlay" (club streaming service for non Skysports/espn+ games)

  16. not sure when you grew up, but if you look at Austin's weather history for the 1970s, many will be surprised that we has only 30 days of 100F or higher for the whole decade.
  17. Would the Lavia sale be the biggest transfer fee for a player ever from a club relegated from the PL?
  18. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2023/08/liverpools-second-bid-for-romeo-lavia-rejected-still-short-of-50m/ Liverpool’s second bid for Romeo Lavia rejected – still short of £50m Southampton is in a position of power on this one. £41m with add-ons is not going to cut it.
