  1. Tried this Friday at a wine tasting event. Easy drinking Albarino. I liked it. https://www.totalwine.com/wine/white-wine/albarino/bienbebido-pulpo-albarino/p/2126253957
  2. Hot Summer Nights lineup just dropped... I want to go see Pussy Gilette again. Plan on seeing Gus Baldwin & the Sketch, Nolan Potter's Nightmare Band, Queen Serene/Prehuman (99% sure they'll be on the same bill) and... finally... its time to see one of the best-named bands in Austin... Subpar Snatch (well, tied with Chancla Fight Club)
  3. One can only hope
  4. Except he tends to avoid the bottom of town lake
  5. This provides some good perspective - https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/ian-moore-jamming-stones-writing-130000188.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALLNU_xmDiaVhQyvELxnrb0G5lG8LvnQ1FlxAPUddqnZbRZdJ8JdoR5ANvPI-0CHP24dcr5Nn1CHnAj281fNxq6XvtTbXhgA9dJURAZCENJ81Y5t6yLqzxj21h4g0QTQrW-iDCN8qbH4tIiGbZK8w3smJuGF-lCxyNW2AuNVlrHO
  6. He's always around. Just part of the South Congress fabric now.
  7. His SXSW show last year (the one I saw) was definitely straight up blues/rock. This also insinuates he's back to his roots for now...
  8. Just remembered we were at the same show at the Austin Music Awards in March 2024... Ian Moore, Eve Monsees... Speedy Sparks on bass, Chris Layton (can't see him) was on drums. Ben Buck was ready to go on next.
  9. Last two shows I've seen he's been slaying with the guitar. From what I know, he really wanted to explore the other style but we know what pays.
  10. Seen him a couple of times over the past year as he was starting to put on more shows... one at SXSW at last year at the Austin Music Awards. His playing is so spot on. Haven't been to these either but might opt for this on Thursday instead of the Drop-In.
  11. Ian Moore on Thursday... https://www.thestoryoftexas.com/muts?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22671350638&gbraid=0AAAAACMDKx01G_9N9aemdIN3XCjFjP5hf&gclid=CjwKCAjw9uPCBhATEiwABHN9Kx-A52cY0uiB6RVtBzKuvAkB6RHpGOljFpDrNW3wv9pe6QDcNfPFiBoCFRkQAvD_BwE
  12. Need to catch one of these shows... https://www.thestoryoftexas.com/muts?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22671350638&gbraid=0AAAAACMDKx01G_9N9aemdIN3XCjFjP5hf&gclid=CjwKCAjw9uPCBhATEiwABHN9Kx-A52cY0uiB6RVtBzKuvAkB6RHpGOljFpDrNW3wv9pe6QDcNfPFiBoCFRkQAvD_BwE Good one this week...
  13. It was okay on South Beach. There but not overwhelming by any means. It was worse up by Delray. We were able to hang in the water without it bothering us too much.
  14. Yeah... we basically drove all the way from Wellington to Mar-a-Lago and turned right. Then drove allll the way down to Delray. When you come up to Briny Breezes you're like, what in the world is this place? But, in a way, after passing mega mansions and fantasyland, it felt refreshing.
  15. Free show tonight... and tomorrow night...
  16. Why Juneteenth matters...
  17. So, we visited family in two different parts of Florida. My hot takes of the beaches we visited in this trip in order of "best" to "worst" (although I don't want to necessarily use the term "worst"). My opinion - I know this is very subjective. Jupiter Beach over by DuBois Park Miami Beach / Lummus Park Lauderdale by the Sea Ponce Inlet Delray Beach Daytona Beach proper ...bonus beach Bay St. Louis in Mississippi. Great little town, given its virtual rebuilding because of Katrina, everything is new and charming. Its an odd mix of a very red town that doesn't necessarily act red. Surprising number of bars per capita. White sand beaches but, man, I was not going to get in that water. Re: Wellington and that general area. Man, it was not for me. Everything perfect and manicured and gated and just felt too sheltered. Is it a really nice area? Yeah. Tons of money there. TONS. But my son and I had the same visceral reaction when we arrived. It felt kind of soulless. If I lived in the area, I would absolutely opt for Jupiter or, if I had the money, the Prospect Park area (what a great neighborhood). Oh... what's up with Briny Breezes? Oddly charming. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12073385/Inside-small-Florida-mobile-home-community-Briny-Breezes.html
  18. Nope... "Fluminense Football Club (Brazilian Portuguese: [flumiˈnẽsi futʃiˈbɔw ˈklubi]) is a Brazilian sports club based in the neighbourhood of Laranjeiras, in Rio de Janeiro, being the oldest football club in the state since its foundation in 1902. It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the first tier of Brazilian football, and the Campeonato Carioca, the state league of Rio de Janeiro. The word "fluminense" is the gentilic given to people born in the state of Rio de Janeiro."
  19. Been on the Gulf side but family is on the Atlantic so... Also @locodos fully agree with LBS. It is a very underrated but fantastic little town. Was packed in Monday night.
  20. Dubois Park and Jupiter was an excellent suggestion. We started the morning in the lagoon and then made our way across the parking lot to the beach to play around in the waves. Ended up eating at Guanabanas was that amazing view and vibe. Afterwards we drove for maybe 15-20 minutes and Jupiter looks like a great area in general.
  21. If one of the "choises" is lengua, the place is legit
  22. Amazing views for a bite and $5 margaritas on Mondays. Are they the best margaritas? Well, they're $5 and probably better than most $12 margaritas in Florida. https://www.guanabanas.com/
  23. Oh... man... prices in FL in general are higher than anticipated although its not like I'm staying in a broke-ass area. But even up in the Daytona/Ponce Inlet area. I feel like I can find cheap food in Austin. Was laughing at walking past a pretty basic looking restaurant on Washington Avenue yesterday and, as we walked towards Lincoln, I glanced at their menu board. Barbacoa taco plate for $28 !?
  24. Going to check out Jupiter today. Delray most likely tomorrow. Miami Beach was great yesterday - everyone should do the beach in front of Lummus at least once. Honestly, if you can avoid the more heavy party part of South Beach (around Mango's, etc), I like it. I'm talking further up by 12th/13th and up. Beach is pretty chill, less of a circus.
  25. Family told me lots of shops and stuff there
