  1. Oh yeah ZZ Top... loved it!!! Billy's still got it and I thought Elwood is a great fit. Frank just lurks in the back. Need to catch them again because you never know but Billy doesn't seem like he's slowing down. Also, the show at the Majestic was like the fountain of youth. I felt so young compared to the average fan.
  2. he average cost of a home in that area is about $675,000, according to AustinRealEstate.com. Can someone hook me up with some of those average homes?
  3. I know... one of these days... I've been to the museums in the Campidoglio and various other museums and galleries around town. Some of them are usually barren and filled with amazing works. Also haven't done the Scavi tour but have been to the catacombs off of the Appian Way which used to be very quiet and they are quite extensive. Did you get shushed for talking in the capuchin chapel?
  4. Always enjoy shows at Empire and the ability to flow from one set to another between the two stages. Outdoor stage is as protected as can be so even in bad weather, you're protected. Also scored with a parking spot less than two blocks away. El Khat - was not sure what to expect but the Arabic-infused sound was fantastic. Could not understand a word but still an amazing set They Live - great 80s new wave infused sound. While I enjoyed their show, they seemed like an odd entry into the Levitation Festival. Same with... Say She She - more of a disco girl group sound... again, fun, lots of dancing and good times and the backing band was great but seemed like an odd fit. They Live was the opening band for Say She She's tour. Apparently one of the singers from the band was with El Michels Affair. Left the show midset to go back into the Control Room for... Pachyman - inject his dub reggae into my veins. Phenomenal. Really really good, Puerto Rican tinged dub. Love it! Altin Gun - amazing infusion of modern sounds, psychedelic sounds and Turkish Folk music. Crowd was packed for their show. We weren't able to stay for JJUUJJUU or Nolan Potter's Nightmare Band. Pachyman: They Live: El Khat: Altin Gun From the back on the way out...
  5. Correct and the city is full of amazing sites and gems that are completely ignored by the masses... and that's where we spend our time. As someone who has been to Rome over a dozen times to visit family, etc., I still haven't been to the Vatican Museums. I'll live. I still haven't been to Franklin, either.
  6. It is ball shriveling cold here... It will only last a couple of days so I'll allow it
  7. Maybe my eyes were scorched or I was squinting to not look
  8. Fat black guy? Last time was a fat white guy. Equal opportunity.
  9. I'm taking a short walk through the neighborhood so I can feel this come through and enjoy every minute of it.
  10. To be honest, they both are terrible. You can hate one and the other.
  11. Black Angels DJing earlier today at the Levitation Lounge on E 6th
  12. Was at an event in East Austin around 5 PM and a cell absolutely poured on us... and then it just wrapped up and the sun came out. Felt like a summer pop-up
  13. I would totally buy one. Its like having a pair of farted on Astrodome seats.
  14. Can confirm from first-hand reports of a friend of mine that went to visit family. Said it was really crowded. I think Rome is stuck in that mode now, as well. Used to be you could go in the spring or winter months and it was "relatively" chill. Sorry for my family in Rome but we just don't go back there. They may be celebrating that, though.
  15. How did this turn out? “One of the first bills I intend to file would require every member of Congress and their families to receive their healthcare only at VA hospitals,” he said. “The debate would highlight an important point that our veterans are not treated with the respect and dignity they deserve, and are not receiving the proper benefits they’ve earned. Yet, members of Congress live relatively like kings. It’s upside down and needs to change. https://www.baptistmessage.com/mike-johnson-faith-family-freedom-motivate-run-seat-u-s-congress/
  16. Back to the topic, I have to wonder who was yelling at the pilot to "just take off!!! Do you know who I am!?" https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/24/us/houston-hobby-airport-grounded-flights-jets-collision/index.html
  17. Man, I love this especially since I know that area well. What's funny is I read it and envisioned Briagrove Park and then realized he was talking about Briagrove which is four miles closer to town. Reminds me of a conversation I had with someone about our old neighborhood in Houston... when they bought a house there in the 50s, people thought they were crazy because it was past what was then called Camp Hudson... a boy scout camp which is where areas like Hudson Oaks and Hudson Bend are now located. This is before my time but https://www.hudsonoakstownhomessection2.com/remembering-camp-hudson/
  18. His beliefs are 100% compatible with what every Southern Baptist preacher especially the bigger churches like Second Baptist in Houston. He's perfectly aligned with what is preached there today.
  19. Is there a link to this meltdown? I don't have a Twitter account anymore and can't see if there is a link in the comments.
  20. Yeah, these people drive me crazy... sorry... especially in Austin which is a relatively safe city, particularly if you're not hanging out on 6th street past midnight or over by 183 on the north side of town. I think you can make a case to some extent in Houston but the people who coooonstantly complain about how bad Austin is really need to just stay home, cower while ignoring the lawn or move out to Llano or somewhere deep in the hill country. Enough whining from these people...
  21. The Far Out shows that I wanted for tonight sold out. Wife hemmed and hawed too long. Was thinking of the Bully show at Parish tonight but decided against it. So, I was going to buy tickets to the Beach Fossils lineup with Turnover and Being Dead at Stubb's and then realized... Sunday night + Stubb's outside + temps in the 40s = my wife will kill me. So... opted for what should be an eclectic but very cool lineup at Empire...
