  1. I guess the cat was out of the bag by July... I mean WTF...
  2. "our"? I liked Hacksaw Duggan and Rowdy Roddy Piper. Hogan always seemed mainstream and super cheesy. HE felt corporate so I never liked him. Found more reasons not to like him later.
  3. So who is the first one to go check out the cliffs at Pace Bend? Need to know if I'm going to get impaled on a newly submerged sycamore.
  4. The locals are pissed and that's why I said no Italian is paying that amount. I mean, for Italy, 28 Euros was not cheap. Now its absurd.
  5. I mean Puglia Is awesome. Alberobello Is very much with visiting and Salento has beautiful water/beaches.
  6. Yeah, that's a big hole for that town. Little store, great BBQ. That sucks. Would love to go back and rent a cabin in Camp Wood. Definitely can't visit there without bringing a buttload of supplies.
  7. Not to mention the cable car prices have gotten insane. Maybe they've jacked up the prices to keep tourism down though clearly not working. Probably more to make a ton of money will they can. No Italian is paying that without having something like a Supersummer pass. 2013... today...
  8. Which one. Last time we stayed there, the only thing open midweek was King's Texas Smokehouse. Looks like it is now closed. Not many food options in that dot on a map.
  9. On a side note, was curious about one of the places we like near Camp Wood. Looks like the cabins are just outside of the 100 year flood plain (which honestly does not mean much these days) as you can see below: But what I found interesting is twofold: 1) Data / flood maps that look incredibly outdated 2) Entire sections where there is no digital data available. See the actual town of Camp Wood:
  10. PSG? Was Donnarumma there?
  11. The local solution, for now, as Seceda's pastoral vibe gets ruined. Not sure this solves anything. Maybe make it only accessible to hikers. https://www.rainews.it/tgr/trento/articoli/2025/07/seceda-tornello-overtourism-pedaggio-dolomiti-7c8b4460-1f46-4e8c-852c-c2f162285e1b.html
  12. Below you'll see three pictures I took around 2014 from Seceda in Ortisei... so calm and peaceful. It was amazing. This was just down the valley from where I learned to ski as a kid. Now? this is the line to ride the cable car up. Dude... this pisses me off to no end. I loathe LOATHE overtourism.
  13. Sounds like what it used to feel like driving down 71 through Bastrop. Absolute devastation.
  14. ...and yet he wiped the floor with all of them
  15. Yup. Mine's an introvert at heart so I've seen how band helped him with a community in HS. My younger one is more extroverted and he's always had soccer (club and HS) but for the older one, I can see the big advantage with college band. BUT, again, the experience and the grind I think will help him get into college. We'll see.
  16. Hope this is true I can tell you my son had leadership sessions last week W-F from 9-5 and this week until school starts, he gets to be at school at 6:45 AM until 5:00 PM to prep for the season. One has to think that type of dedication has an impact when being considered for a school (whether you want to be in marching band or not)
  17. This is my thought process. I wasn't in band. My school, even though it was a big school, really didn't place much of an emphasis (or pay attention) to band. My son goes to a school with a probably better-funded band than the football program. They're routinely nationally ranked. So, to me, band has been a great experience for him. He has had to push himself and dedicate himself to a working with "the team". He's in leadership his senior year and I think since his grades are... uh... kind of like mine were, the band experience and effort should help him when trying to get into certain schools that look at the whole student, not just grades. Also, some schools that he is considering have great band programs - he wants to keep marching. For some schools, that matters and, to go back to your original point, it does provide that third space and community right as you plug into college.
  18. You should go see Je'Texas when the rare opportunity arises...
  19. There is absolutely a difference in swamp ass between the two cities. I will say the clouds yesterday in Austin made it semi-tolerable. Still the case today but if it clears up, I'm this little stretch is over.
  20. That sucks. Usually the crowd is really into them and they have a good following. Seen them twice and I really enjoyed their show. Wasn't there supposed to be a good after show? Saw Grouplove tonight at the MLS fan fest. They are so great live.
  21. Maybe I need to listen to more of his music. I've always liked "Dirty"
  22. Hot Summer Nights next week. Anyone going? Plan on hitting it Friday with a friend and Saturday with my wife. No Coldplay cover bands, thankfully. Probably going to hit this show in August...
  23. and yet she didn't see around that corner
  24. Interesting document and a good image about preventing from getting in this situation in first place... this speaks to my greed comment earlier Massive document - interesting stuff when you have a troublesome #2 - https://floodsciencecenter.org/products/elected-officials-flood-risk-guide/moving-beyond-the-essentials/5/#question_44
