Getting ready for Polo and Pan. I'm not budging.
  3. I can't believe they're not playing for free and handing out free merch to all attendees. The nerve...

  5. It appears to have appreciated... a bit. https://www.homestratosphere.com/john-lautners-elrod-house-in-palm-springs-ca-listed-for-8-million/ PS is awesome though. From the architecture to the desert vibes to all the great hiking (yes, even in the summer), I love it. Haven't been in years, though.
  6. Hard to believe the Lautner house was sold at rock bottom prices

I'm down with that kind of sound and sometimes I need some chill vibes at ACL... not often... but sometimes and when I do its something like this. I avoid low energy shows like the plague but this won't be like that.

Yeah so I'm back this weekend for volunteer shifts and I'll be able to see him. THIS time I am not going to sit in the Tito's tent for 40 minutes to watch a disappointing Passion Pit set. I'll head over to T-Pain. Will also check out Polo & Pan - heard so many good things about their set. Did anyone hit La Lom? How were they? Also, I loved the Wet Leg show but I'll check out Midnight Generation this weekend. I fully expect this is how I will feel after W2
  9. Pretty much what it felt like, yes.
  10. I mean, stuff like this... what is the point? Just to be petty or to protect the ever-so-important American pasta lobby? Sorry man, I'm not switching to garbage pasta...

I did open to close all three days. Its not easy (I'm Gen-X for perspective) but I still power through. I recovered Saturday and Sunday mornings from the previous days but Monday... nah, man, that sucked. The back and the lungs by the end of day three are pissed off.

Man, that's where I am. I don't get the love for The Killers save for one song. I mean, I'd rather see The Strokes mailing it in than The Killers put in an effort. This, gentlemen, is why you should get to know the bands lower in the lineup. That's where you find gold.

Interesting... I was wondering because we could tell John Summit had a massive crowd that just kept growing as the set went on...

Don't know how the openers will work since I've seen Wet Leg twice and both times at ACL ('22 and '25). That said, very interesting to read about Courtney Barnett because I really like her music but have never seen her live. Duly noted for the future. Meanwhile... they know how to start a set! This is a band that still very much feels like they appreciate how far they have come and their fans.

Dude... you're going to love their show. They're so good and I love how they can really rock out aside from their more popular songs. Looked at the openers... INOHA is pretty good. They're getting their footing and are SATX boys slowly making their name. Show them so love.

    2025 ACL

Made it through all three days. I'm in bad shape today (bounced back after day 1 and 2, not so much day 3) If I just think of the highlights yesterday, The Dare was an absolute kick ass show although someone should get fired for scheduling him in the daytime. WTF!? Followed The Dare with Wet Leg, got nice and close and the show was amazing! They have such a good stage presence. Love this band since they broke out in 2022. Passion Pit - waiting 40 minutes inside a ridiculously stuffed tent (crowd outside was massive) and... meh. Sound was off. We made it through 5 songs and left. Really poor location choice and I don't know. They didn't sound right. Disco Lines looked like a madhouse but I bet it was awesome. Caught some of Phantogram which was great Saw John Summit from the Magenta Lounge - crowd way bigger than The Strokes. Great vibes and very cool pyrotechnics. Definitely recommend that show. Crowd size just kept growing and growing. ...and I'm spent. So glad I'm volunteering next weekend

Yeah they sounded great. For those going W2, my suggestion specifically for Friday would be to enjoy your day, go have a great time at Empire of the Sun (my choice), Rilo Kiley or Dr. Dog and then wrap up your night by skipping the final shows to go take a leak, get a drink or go look at some merch. You can then go catch a night show somewhere or get a drink.

This? Joey Valence & Brae was such a great set. Full on energy and the crowd was really into it. Just old school hip hop. Loved it. Modest Mouse and The Strokes both sounded great and we sat through 30 minutes of Doechii and she killed it. Finally what a great DJ set by Sammy Virji. Great day!

We may try to get to Passion Pit early. We'll see. As for Empire two of their biggest hits have 1.3 and 1.1 Billion streams. Their third biggest song is at 850 Million. Sabrina's biggest sits at 400M although she has more monthly streamers. Also, Miller Lite at sunset is consistently one the best stages at ACL

So how much Emergen-C and coconut water y'all enjoying today? Ooooffff Today's radar: Hotline TNT - Always up to check out some shoegaze/noise pop Inoha - Saw them at SXSW earlier in the year - good indie rock Ocean Alley - possible but they will most likely lose out to... Joey Valence & Brae - aka early Beasties and the Beatbox stage is a good stage with a chance of shade Modest Mouse La Lom - maybe but mostly overlaps with Modest Mouse although some time in the Tito's tent shade would be nice 5:30 - 7:30 block is a hmmmm block of Magdalena Bay, Backseat Lovers, LP Giobbi. Which one?? Sammy Virji apparently had a great DJ set at Coachella The Strokes, duh. Easy choice for me and I think Sabrina will be a mess. Very happy that I pretty much don't have a reason to go to the Amex stage today.
