  1. First is the 1984 Cotton Bowl as many others have mentioned. Student at UT at the time. Drove up from Austin and back the same day. Capped off a perfect day by getting a speeding ticket a mile from home on the way back. Second is the 2010 NC game. Took my 10 year old twin sons. More disappointed for them than myself, I'd been to Pasadena 4 years earlier to see the greatest game in history. At least they got to go to Universal Studios and see Hollywood tourist shit. 11 years later both are juniors at UT and the best game they've been to was the Sugar Bowl against Georgia. If we'd won that day we might have somewhat prevented Alabama from becoming the dynasty they have. And my sons would get to say to their fellow Longhorns "yeah, we were at that game," and I'd have been the best Dad ever instead of the mediocre one I am.
  2. For the first time in my 59 years of life, I'm selling a vehicle privately instead of trading it in. Car was a lease and I decided to buy it from the leasing company, figured that instead of giving it back and paying a disposition fee I'd try to sell it at a profit (even after paying tax a second time). Advertised the car in a few places and I immediately had a buyer. Got the signed title from the leasing company and went down to the tax assessor office to reregister the car in my name so I could sell to the buyer. I was told it could take up to 20 business days to get the new title? Why would it take that long? All they are doing is verifying information on a screen and putting a blue piece of paper into a laser printer. Does it actually take 20 business days or is that just a worst case scenario? I'd like to get this sold as quickly as possible since I'm paying insurance and the note on the balloon payment and every extra day eats into how much I'll clear. Thanks.
  3. He was our coach when I started at UT. Absolutely sick defenses in the early 80s. I was at the 83 cotton bowl against Georgia where we came within a muffed punt of a MNC. Felt terrible for the guy. RIP coach, you were a class act.
  4. Yes. Thats what he did. He said that the 2 adjacent ones were on the same phase and couldn't be bridged to make 240. Makes sense since he did move a circuit to arrange for them to be 2 apart instead of adjacent. Right side of box are all even numbers, left is odd numbers. 5. I agree, that's also a concern. That 2 breakers would have to trip instead of 1. The 2 hots are going to each side of a NEMA 14-30 outlet and the each neutral/grounds combined and going to the ground and neutral of the outlet together. It works, so that's good but I wonder if its up to code. I can always yank it out when I sell the house I guess.
  6. Just bought a Tesla Model 3, most fun car I've ever driven. 120 volt charging was a joke, 3-5 miles per hour wasn't going to work. Had an electrician put in a 240 volt 30 amp circuit that gets me 24 miles per hour. Things are good. But, I'm a little concerned about the installation. I read up on it and I understand that electricity coming into the house is at 240. The main box provides 240 to the AC, water heater, range, and the box in the garage. The box in the garage splits that 240 into two 120 phases with half the circuits being on one phase and the other half on another. All the stuff I've seen says you put in a 30 amp breaker that fits into and pulls from 2 adjacent slots to achieve 240. My guy tells me that my box doesn't work that way. So he put a 30 amp breaker in one slot and put another 30 amp breaker in the slot 2 below that one, not the adjacent one. Those joined together to power the 240 outlet. Well, it works so I'm guessing he's right, but does that make sense? When I sell the house am I going to be told it's not up to code?
  7. I've had T-vision for about a month now. I'm pretty happy with it. Good picture, gets LHN, Fox, FS1, and ABC so all Horns games are covered. Works on Apple TV, Fire TV and iPad.
  8. Maybe I didn't explain this well enough. I think the 3 previous years were enough to get him fired. And I think he should be fired. If he'd improved from year 1 to year 3 and then this season occurred, I wouldn't feel the same way.
  9. Again, I said I don't disagree with the opinion and I'm not trying to legitimize it. I'd be okay with hiring another coach now or the end of the season. But not based on this year. This team has had limited practices, limited scrimmages and was trying to implement a new offensive and defensive scheme. My issues were from years previous that led up to this year and the need to implement the new schemes in the first place.
  10. While I agree with your opinion, it is worth noting that there have been a serious amount of top 25 upsets this year, more than any previous year I can remember. So while all teams have had the same issues, there are quite a few in the same boat that we are.
  11. This is one of the most horribly written petitions I've ever seen. Ashamed that I graduated from the same law school as the attorney who signed it. And big surprise, the attorney that owns the firm graduated from a&m.
  12. I did say that with 25% I'm hoping they won't have a problem. Just want people more familiar with the area to confirm. And I was hoping someone would reveal the super top-secret route to get into the Fair Grounds I've been hearing about for decades. I kind of like the sons I got, identical twins was kind a novelty growing up and both got into UT, so don't need new ones.
  13. My sons got student tickets so they'll be 2 of the 25%. Since they were freshmen in 2018, we met them in Dallas, stayed at a hotel along the DART line and took the train to Fair Park. This year wife and I can't go. I managed to get them a rental car in Austin near campus (one month shy of their 21st birthdays, it would have been a shit-ton easier if they were 21) so they'll have a way to Dallas. Wife insists they avoid the DART to go to the game from their hotel. With 25% capacity and no state fair, I'm hoping they won't have a problem getting parking in the state fair lots. Opinions and suggestions for a backup plan?
  14. Yep that's my area. Seems like its been pretty reliable the last few weeks (knocking on wood).
  15. I've had Google Fiber here in San Antonio for about 8 months now and am pretty happy with it. I had spectrum before that and really didn't have problems with it other than the pricing. However, having to call every 6 months or a year and renegotiate with someone who can barely speak my language was bullshit. I opted to pay the early termination fee and go with GF. It's quite fast, I get download speeds of close to the promised 1G on the desktop that's wired to the router. Apple TVs, iPads, iPhones, all get 300+ speeds. But, nothing I do requires that kind of speed but I'm paying a cheaper price so that's not a bad thing. As someone said, even 50 is plenty for HD viewing. The only real con is that if you have a lot of construction in your area, at least once a month some idiot cuts the cable and you lose service for a few hours. Google will refund you for the downtime. I can use my iPhone personal hotspot as a backup but its inconvenient and not optimal if you are in the middle of a video conference.
  16. UTSA receiving votes for the first time in school history.
  17. Selfish and self-righteous? Hardly. Proven facts. This country has insanely high rates of heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Are you going to deny that? You don't think that plays a part? Go into a supermarket, amusement park or any other mass gathering in this country and look at the percentage of people who overweight or smoking. Then go to one in some of the more fit European countries. It's quite an eye-opener. People here simply don't take care of themselves and wonder why they may have problems when their immune systems get challenged. I know people that have died from this. I feel bad and grieve for the casualties of this pandemic but at the end of the day, most broke their immune system and it wasn't able to perform when they needed it. In most cases, (not saying all) many of the underlying diseases are very preventable with lifestyle changes. Eat right most of the time and do a half hour of exercise a day, maybe some stress reduction and chances are you'll be OK if you get Covid. As for being old as someone mentioned, being old puts you more at risk because you've been doing these for a longer period of time. Plenty of healthy old people out there.
  18. "People with underlying medical conditions such as heart disease and diabetes were hospitalized six times as often as otherwise healthy individuals infected with the novel coronavirus during the first four months of the pandemic, and they died 12 times as often, according to a federal health report..." While I don't believe this virus is a hoax or government plot, this virus mostly kills people that have serious lifestyle-related illnesses. If you choose to smoke, have unprotected sex, drink to excess, be sedentary, and eat shitty foods, you're at risk. If you're in decent shape, you'll have a bad case of the flu. Counter-argument is that some people that have non-lifestyle related illnesses such as cancer didn't cause their problems, but those people with compromised immune systems weren't going out anyway. So should the rest of us compromise or give up our livelihoods, football, movies, concerts, and socializing because people made bad lifestyle choices? I would hope that after this is over people might get off their fat asses and lift a dumbbell and shed a few pounds, maybe choose a salad over a calzone, but I seriously doubt that's going to happen.
  19. I pretty much knew credit unions were the way to go, I'm seeing Penfed offering 2.99 right now for used car loans. I thought they could treat this like a refinance but I guess because it's a 2017 they consider it a used car loan. I've financed plenty of cars before, I usually just take the 1.9% offers from the dealership (I know they just find another way to screw me and make the money back they lose on that low interest rate). I've just never wanted to keep a lease before and didn't know if there were better ways to do it. I appreciate all the answers.
  20. Completely understand this. My warranty goes a year past lease close and I can always extend it. I know that educated buyers don't usually keep these but I truly enjoy driving the car.
  21. No, that's the RS3. That's a fast beast, I'd probably kill myself in that.
  22. I appreciate the answer. I guess I should clarify, I’ve got an excellent credit score and I’m not poor. I’m just looking to find the best interest rate because I’m a cheapskate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
