  1. I'm on the fence.. I got the 100k so even at $550 minus the $300 travel credit I'm only paying 250 a year plus the value of the points I received and used. I'm way ahead. Lyft pink doesn't do much for me since I use my delta amex with lyft for the extra points. And I get a monthly credit on Uber with amex plat. Door dash I could use instead of Uber eats I guess. Priority pass sucks and I already get that through amex plat plus the amex lounges and delta lounges when flying delta. Points are definitely more valuable through the Chase portal. I agree with you on all these points, I have the Amex platinum and CSR. One exception, Priority Pass using the CSR is not the same as through Amex Plat. CSR allows you to use more lounges and isn't closed off as often to members during certain peak hours. AMEX PP doesn't give you restaurant credits at airports anymore like CSR PP does. But AMEX lounges are the best of the best and only available using AMEX Platinum.
  2. The other day the feature that warms the water accidentally got turned off. That first shot of water about 50 degrees lower than I expected hitting my turdcutter was quite the shock.
  3. I can't think of any purchase I've made recently that the cost to benefit ratio is that good.
  4. Damn, I applied on the in-flight webpage for the personal card the other day with a 50,000 point offer. Oh well, at least I got the 80,000 point business card offer to qualify for companion pass.
  5. Truly amazing musician and lyricist. GOAT. RIP Professor.
  6. I dealt with roundabouts driving in Iceland and Bonaire, but driving on the right. I'll check out the Youtube videos.
  7. Several critics have said that Stop Making Sense is the greatest concert film of all time. Can't argue with that.
  8. Got a great deal to go to Scotland and Ireland (see points and miles thread) for several weeks in the spring with Mrs. ZR (no pics). I hate organized tours, so I figure we''ll rent a car and tour on our own. I've read in many places that you get used to driving on the left side of the road pretty quickly, but I'm stressing about it. Not sure how something I do for hours every day for the past 42 years will be that easy if all the rules and procedures are changed. I can drive standard which seems to be what most rentals there are, but I think I'll pay the extra money for an automatic so it will be one less thing I have to think about while driving. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
  9. Flying Blue is the miles program for Air France and KLM, it codeshares with several other airlines as well. You can transfer points in from most of the major credit card company rewards programs. They are having a sale right now flying out of Houston Bush International, 10,750 points each way to select cities in Europe up until late April. Just booked an open jaw into Dublin and out of Edinburgh for Mrs ZR and I. 43K points and under $200 in taxes and fees. Don't like the idea of flying coach but with all the miles I'm saving, I'll upgrade the hotels I stay at.
  10. My wife claims that as we were walking towards the game, a guy offered me 10 grand for both my tickets. If that actually happened, I must have blocked it out of my mind since nothing was going to keep me from attending that game. In retrospect, knowing what I know now, I'd have probably paid 20 grand for 2 tickets to that game if I hadn't had mine. Greatest night of my life.
  11. Purses are my way of keeping the peace. Although Mrs. ZR doesn't really object to guns, she just like purses.
  12. Ted Koy delivered my dog Colt. CSB.
  13. You are correct, I've lived here in San Antonio since 1987 and know some of the history behind it. They didn't pour substantial money into it originally, it was built on the cheap and it showed from day 1. Another one of former Mayor Henry Cisneros' pet projects that wasted millions of dollars and failed miserably.
  14. Was at the game last night with my family. No way it was 60% full, it was much more than that. Crowd was loud but not the typical Texas crowd that goes to games at DKR. Many people, at least in my shitty section, didn't stand or know the words for the Eyes, didn't know Texas Fight, and didn't look like they'd ever set foot on the 40 acres. But they were there and making noise. The Alamodome is a fucking joke. After going to the Superdome in January and Jerry World in December last year, I was shocked at how low-class the Alamodome was. Restrooms, concessions, the overall dingy atmosphere in the concourse, absolutely pathetic. Like comparing the Four Seasons to a Motel 6.
  15. My son is an advertising sophomore at UT. I sent him this and said if you ever come up with an ad as brilliant as this, I'll know my investment in you paid off.
  16. I bought mine in the early 80s, still looks brand new.
  17. Yeah, gotta give him that. She is hot and he got with her way before he was making any kind of money.
  18. WTF does that mean? We weren't outreached but our coaches didn't plan as well as theirs did?
  19. Actually, the more I think about it, maybe it’s not such a bad idea. I’ve read several articles that say that the item in a hotel room that has the highest fecal bacteria count is the TV remote control. I can only imagine how high the count is for a remote control that’s used next to the shitter for the shitter. Hands-free may be the way to go.
  20. I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I tried to see if I could link it to a Harmony hub in my living room using bluetooth so I could voice command it with Alexa. But it uses an IR remote and I didn't want to buy an additional hub.
  21. This isn't exactly untrue. My identical twins applied for admission for the 2018-19 academic year. One was top 7%, the other a fraction under it. Top 7% twin got in, the other was CAP. Their GPA/SAT index was exactly the same. CAP twin appealed stating his twin and he were academically equal according to every other school admission standards. He won his appeal and got in. CAP twin GPA after first year at UT was slightly higher than his brother.
  22. So, if we assume that Tango Mike's statement that 200 graduates join the military each year is correct, and aggy had 10,500 graduates last year, then 1.9% of them actually join the military. Maybe being called a 2%er should be a badge of honor for them.
