  1. We have unlimited energy potential. Biden dropped O&G production by 97%. Aren’t you keeping up? 😂
  2. Nytimes article on how the weight loss drugs can lead to negative impact on relationships. https://archive.ph/YsMBh (Free link) made since that it can affect both people in a relationship when one loses a significant amount of weight.
  3. Europe has much stronger memories of a previous dictator growing into a much larger problem because he wasn’t taken care of early enough. I know talk of a hot war is premature because I believe that Canada would eventually lower the temps by giving Trump something.
  4. I don’t disagree. i wonder what the NATO contingency is when two members fight each other? Does Europe just stay out of it.
  5. Hopefully Trudeau doesn’t go overboard with retaliating by shutting down electricity to the states that depend on Canada. That could flip this to a hot war because then Canada would be screwing with the US national security.
  6. There is a non-zero chance that Trump has already spoken to Hegseth about an eventual invasion of Canada and you might as well take Greenland at the same time. i could imagine Hegseth asking the Joint Chiefs to see existing military options to invade and occupy Canada. And the top brass looks at him like what are you talking about? Existing plans?
  7. If gas prices go up or one grocery item, Trump will paint Trudeau like a cartel leader killing Americans and raising prices. Trump can’t back down, so if Canada can’t be the mature one, this all ends badly.
  8. AD might make the Mavs better but only if Luka is still on the team. Didn’t Luka average 33 in 70 games last year? You don’t remove someone with those numbers unless there is more to the story. Was he banging the owner’s wife or daughter?
  9. Trudeau should rename the Gulf of America to the Gulf of Canada, and force Google Maps to display it.
  10. Trump can’t let someone retaliate so what his is next move? Bump up the Canadian tariffs? Close the Canadian borders and stop flights? Deport all Canadians? We know one thing is that he can’t do anything to lower the temperature.
  11. Collins is up for reelection in ‘26. Maybe Maine will finally realize how bad she is.
  12. Trump will spin this in that her family is embarrassed that she was a DEI hire, and directly refer to her as the unnamed DEI hire. Or he will just use her name.
  13. We can only hope to purge MAGA by taking the country to the brink. I know and hate that many will suffer from Trump tariffs but we might as well get the pain started. 2026 elections in 21 months. The House can easily flip and the Senate isn’t impossible.
  14. Looks like the tariffs are pushing the 10 year higher and this is only before they start.
  15. Tariffs will create job losses here. Higher prices will lower demand which so US employers won’t need as many workers. The 10 year treasury rate should spike and it really hasn’t dropped much anyway. It’s possible that if the economy collapses enough, the rates won’t raise too much. the market reacted poorly to the news today but I assume they is still hope from the market that it won’t happen. Monday could be a bloodbath on wall st. not to get political but the rumor is that the 3 countries are in the dark what they have to do in order to avoid tariffs tomorrow.
  16. My initial reaction to the email too. While it sucks, you don’t want to stand out in the federal workforce right now.
  17. We're adding unprecedented tariffs to our largest trading partners tomorrow and more "details" will be released tomorrow. What a shitshow. I bet they're literally prompting ChatGPT to design a tariff plan.
  18. sounds like DOGE and Elon are going to scrutinize every payment and perhaps prove that each payment is adhering to Trump's priorities. Elon is famous for tearing out a server and then waiting to see if that caused a problem. Maybe stop a few million Treasury payments and listen for the outrage or impact. After all, what is worst thing that can happen if you stop paying people.
  19. How many here follow the conventional wisdom with a stock-bond asset mix by subtracting your age from 100, and that should be your stock percentage. im maybe 90-10 heavy on stock. And each new dollar I invest is in stock etfs. I’m 55 and can’t even imagine only having 45% in stock and the remainder in income. Perhaps I’m fooling myself after back-to-back >20% annual gains. For anyone heavier on bonds/income, is it your own risk profile or do you feel more comfortable following tried and true strategies? I’m open to discussion that I’m making a big mistake.
  20. If true, him denying it won’t make any difference.
  21. True but in my experience they also have backup power. It may be limited but the internet doesn’t drop immediately.
  22. Says a lot that the worlds wealthiest man that he won’t honor a promise that he made to people as he fired them. Then wants to walk it back that his promise isnt enforceable. And Trump has a lifetime of broken contracts with small businesses who can’t afford to sue him. if those two send an email promising 8 months severance if I reply with “Resign” and stop showing up/dialing into work, there is zero chance this promise will be met.
  23. Elon offered 3-6 months of severances for those who were hit by the main Twitter layoff in 2023. Elon then gave them 1 month a few months later. Dared them to sue.
  24. My priorities in bold. I only bolded the bitcoin one because I own some.
  25. Most likely the best workers would take the offer because they're confident they can find employment elsewhere. The worst of the worst are the ones who will stay. The people you mention who are mailing it in. I've never heard of voluntary buyouts being a benefit from an efficiency standpoint. And as a citizen I only care about the efficiency. Personally I don't care about govt costs especially as I get older.
