  1. If Jesus wanted your kids to know about microchips, science or medicine, he would have added it to the Bible.
  2. In listening to some clips from the scotus hearing, I can’t decide if the solicitor general just knows he has an unwinnable case and is just trying to demonstrate some effort to show Trump he’s trying, or he’s just a moron. i think we all agree that a single district judge shouldn’t be able to fully hamstring a president indefinitely, hence we have the appeals and Supreme Courts. Does it mean that court or judge can slow a president? Yep. It’s called being part of a system where one person doesn’t have unlimited power.
  3. Moodys will be attacked by Trump over the weekend for being anti-maga and anti-America. He will propose making their services illegal and subject to a tariff. Moodys = John Roberts = Jerome Powell = Bruce Springsteen. All losers.
  4. One part of ending birthright citizenship is that I don’t see how most Americans are citizens if that becomes the standard. I’m a US citizen because I was born here and my parents were born here. But if being born here doesn’t count for me or them, we can look to my grandparents, who were all born here, but that wouldnt count either. I can trace back g-g-g-g-grandparents+ and then some who predate the revolutionary war in coming to what is now the US. But to my knowledge no one ever gained US citizenship through a legal process. We’ve just always been here. No one was ever declared a citizen via a legal document. of course, I’m white so I wouldn’t be questioned in trumps America. My skin tone makes me a real American in their eyes.
  5. In addition to the $30K, the family could probably win possession of the destroyed Tesla vehicle that is disabled by the mother ship.
  6. Maybe there's more to the 86 term but I always thought it was a service term to remove. Cheeseburger 86 the onions.
  7. I've always had a water tank and have zero problems with freezes. It's a tank of hot water not prone to freezing. I also don't ever recall running out of hot water so tankless didn't appeal to me.
  8. Trump is following the autocrat playbook of pressuring businesses to produce his political promises against the benefit of the company, its shareholders, employees and customers. It's also very telling how much he loves to kiss autocrats' asses and slams democratically elected leaders. Add to the fact that he was complaining to Hannity that he needed a new plane because ours (AF1) looked so bad when compared to the planes of the leaders of UAE, SA and Qatar. WTF man. What a tiny man that he values American power by the gold plated faucets on his plane compares to others.
  9. sorry to hear this. Dementia can deteriorate quickly at times. In short, yes hospice may be an option but everyone has to understand this step is ending curative care. No more going to the ER due to the underlying medical conditions. Yes, you can go to the ER if you break their hip. You're still prescribed medicine for UTIs, etc. They focus on comfort and pain control. However most, if not all doctor visits and relationships will come to an end. Her close family needs to agree to this. It's harsh but the patient is entering the end of their life. My experience was that step 1, a doctor has to prescribe or refer her to hospice care. The doctor has to determine that her life expectancy is 6 month or less. For a dementia patient, I could see a doctor attempting to get the patient to understand the decision and agree as much as possible. Other items. My mom's dementia improved when she went on Aricept (generic=donepezil.) Daily pill. Her Neuro doc advised that it didn't work for everyone but there was no harm in the month or two attempt. The daily cost ~$0.25. The difference was amazing for her but the effectiveness doesn't last forever. Reach out to the people she's texting or calling. Tell them that she's experiencing some issues and they may want to turn off notifications or even ignore any abnormal messages.
  10. With trumpy folks, don’t attempt to shame them by asking why Trump is taking a bribe. Ask them why Trump is either begging for a second hand plane, or he’s selling himself for that same second hand plane. Make them defend what a pathetic person he is. It’s really sad how he’s over in the middle east bending a knee to his superiors. if Trump gets the plane, the next administration should confiscate it, require the Qataris to reimburse us for any taxpayer dime spent on it, and then destroy the plane. Let the military practice taking down a remote controlled jumbo jet being used as terrorist attack drill. Trump doesn’t get it for his personal use.
  11. With all of the stories about Kash Patel's non-participation with the FBI, isn't this a good thing? I know that he's costing us millions in support of his unofficial travel but on the plus side, this leaves the FBI more alone to do their job. If he left today and didn't return to the office until Jan 20, 2029, I vote that is a win for America.
  12. For you or others, hospice doesn't have to be moving to a hospice facility. They will come to wherever the patient is at. For my mom, the main point was that she didn't want to keep going to the hospital for care. I told her it was her decision to switch to hospice and that we would also end up whenever she wanted. Now if you have hospice care at home, obviously the care isn't as on-demand as it would be in a facility. EDIT: Hospice is also there for the family of the patient. When my mom passed at the assisted living place, hospice was first informed and then reached out to me. They took care of the initial details such as reaching out to the funeral home, that was previously identified, to get the process started. While I could have done all of that, it was nice to have someone else handle it. They also offered grief counseling to the family, not that I'm aware if anyone took them up on it. Once again, all free to the patient and family outside of medicare premiums.
  13. Hospice was awesome for my mom. She was at an assisted living home, and hospice only added to the care she received from the home caregivers. The hospice company, HCA?, also brought in any supplies or equipment she needed. When there was an health issue, an HCA nurse would stop by to see her. If she needed a prescription, then the nurse would speak to the hospice doc to write it up. They took over management of her prescriptions. All of this was free through Medicare. The major downside of hospice is that you give up curative care. If you go to the hospital or to see a doctor, it could end the hospice care. However there is nothing stopping you from reapplying for hospice care. This never happened with my mom, so I don't understand the process or timing. As far as the "6-months to live" rule, that's only that a doctor has to sign off that your underlying condition most likely will end your life in the next 6 months. In theory you could last years and years, and Medicare will continue to pay. At least that was my understanding.
  14. I haven't read the book but listened to Pearlman relay stories on his tiktok channel. My favorite being that the NY Giants owner personally handed Trump a $1 bill after the USFL beat the NFL in court. Something out of Trading Places. Thanks for the reminder that I need to find this book.
  15. Who passed on the Cowboys? Trump? There is zero truth to that story. He only bought the USFL team in an attempt to get into the NFL. Then the NFL rejected even after he offered up the USFL as a sacrifice.
  16. Trump will only step onto a plane that he wants. He can order the military and secret service to use the Qatari plane for him. And I agree that the Qatari 747 will never meet the standards of the "AF1" models. That doesn't matter.
  17. Yes. Not to mention that his Exec Order does not lower the price of any drug by one penny. Some drugs may be required to at least match what other countries' single payers are paying for those drugs. I can already think of scenarios that prevent lowering the price for Americans. 1. Raise the prices of the drugs to other countries to the same level as the US. 2. Remove the drugs to Medicare and Medicaid recipients 3. Change the formulation or dosage for Americans. Let's say Brits today pay $0.10 for a 5mg pill and Americans pay $1.00. Change it so Brits pay $0.10 for a 4.999mg pill and Americans pay $1.00 for a 5mg version. And to combine the two recent topics here, this pharmacy exec order is only to distract the 747 gift. Senior citizens, you may get a slight discount and Trump gets $400m+.
  18. I would assume that Trump will never walk onto the two new planes. He will prioritize the retrofit of his new 747. The next President will most likely have to use the old 747s while Boeing goes back to working on the new ones. It's getting complicated that there are five 747s in the mix now: 2 current, 2 in build status and the Qatari one.
  19. I don't understand why Boeing hasn't been able to deliver the 2 new 747s but is there actually a problem with the current two planes? It's unreal that we're allowing a country to give our President a gift worth $400m. And on top of that, the US taxpayer is going to pay to modify and then hand it over to Trump when he's out of office.
  20. Not that many will see it but I hope some working class and poor, who voted for Trump, see how he’s celebrating their misery. he really has no idea how an economy works. I know small companies that buy products from China and then turn it into great paying jobs for Americans installing and maintaining those products in the oil fields.
  21. I had faith in the low 80s that we would get back to all time highs soon, but not enough to buy more. At least I hodled.
  22. Historically the US has been more aligned with pakistan and not India. India was aligned with the USSR. And while you might think that was forever ago, pakistan is less than 75 years old with their current configuration 55. and my point wasn’t that we were going to back Pakistan here but that India has insurance that we won’t. Therefore India can play an American crisis to their advantage. India would want the US to stay out of it, and an unsigned trade deal guarantees that.
  23. I always thought his dress style was not man of the people or someone who cares more about the job than his looks. He demonstrates a lack of social maturity by choosing comfort over dressing like a public official entrusted to lead millions. It also shows that he cares more about attention that he receives than the issues. besides it’s just weird to wear shorts when it’s 20 and snowing. I’m not talking about running out to the mailbox dressed that way but leaving your house to spend a day in the senate. His constituents who get up in the morning to work a blue collar or office job (in the office ) do not dress like a 10 year old boy. you want to look like your voters? Put on some jeans, boots and a work shirt. I’m cool skipping the suit but he looks like a fool.
  24. I’m guessing that India is on the verge of signing a trade deal with the US. Trump wants to wave that agreement around proclaiming that it’s the best huge deal of all time. However if the US even slightly backs Pakistan or condemns India, India will tear up that agreement. It’s the perfect time to demand something from Trump even by not asking for that something.
