  1. I’m reminded of the joke, the beatings will continue until morale improves. I have to guess that any federal worker is performing at the absolute lowest level now. Not so low that you stand out to be fired or that could easily be discovered by Elon’s minions but tap the brakes on work product that isn’t quantifiable in their data systems. obviously I’m not talking about workers who have been ordered to stop working or fired this week.
  2. I recently came across a Cleveland clinic article and then some videos where they praised isometric exercises as dropping BP as much as 10 systolic and diastolic values. For example 4 sets of wall squat/sits with 2 minutes for each set. One recommendation was that each set should get progressively more difficult so maybe not a 90 degree sit for set 1. Save that for the last set. do this 5 times per week. BP is supposed to be improved with a month or two.
  3. Does that phone # only work for patients and those in their facilities, or is it a generic number for anyone in Houston who is in need of immediate assistance? Asking for a friend.
  4. Would love to see a reporter ask Hegseth or Trump why we're such pussies with the Russians.
  5. Most installs are at ground level but makes sense to me to raise it up as long as the entire structure won't rattle when in use.
  6. I recall a documentary about Ted Haggard, disgraced Christian preacher who eventually got caught with meth and male prostitutes. In the documentary, he was talking about sex with his wife to younger male churchgoers. Not from the pulpit but in casual conversation in front of the camera. It was so weird that anyone would do that with acquaintances or strangers especially in front of a camera. The fact that Mace made those comments tells me everything I need to know about her. She's some combination of damaged and has zero social/people skills.
  7. One aspect of this debate/order is how false or stupid arguments can easily resonate with the public. The fact that a penny costs 2 or 3 cents to mint does not mean it's a bad deal. A penny effectively lasts forever unless it's intentionally destroyed or lost. A dollar bill also costs 3 cents to print, but it has a short life if it has an average circulation. If the minting/printing cost vs nominal value is the goal, then we should only print $100 bills if not bring back $1,000 bills. I'm not disagreeing that the penny should be retired but the main argument from Trump is for stupid people.
  8. Not that I have back pain but I just finished watching an hour-long video with a Houston Methodist neurosurgeon on the topic of back pain. He seemed very clear that surgery should always be the last option. It was also interesting that imaging results were only a piece of the diagnosis puzzle. I tried to link the video to start at the doctor interview at the 3 minute mark.
  9. If I recall correctly the first female Citadel student, Shannon Faulkner, was a year or two before Mace. She had to take the battle to court to become a full time student like them men. Faulkner was hazed like the male students, and most likely received it more harshly, but she quit within a week or two. I have to guess that it wasn't easy to go through the Citadel basic training and hazing in August in SC. The heat calmed down when Mace joined. It also GREATLY helped Mace that her father was a US Army general and more importantly he was the Citadel commandant of cadets at the time. I'm sure it was tough but Mace was never not going to graduate. He's described online as the most decorate graduate of the Citadel. EDIT: I agree with the comments that both items in the thread subject could be true.
  10. Trump doesn’t really care about cutting govt spending. He cares about power. Once he’s cut some govt workers in retribution, his attention will go elsewhere. he may have to put up with Elon because Elons money and his willingness to spend it can keep the congress GOP in line. They don’t want Elon supporting a primary opponent.
  11. Mace claims that she saw dozens of nude photos of underage girls on her fiancé's phone, as well as 10,000s of videos depicting assaults of women. If she failed to take this information immediately to the police dept, which there should be records, shouldn't she herself be investigated?
  12. There isn't an expectation of privacy on a city street. A cop could be on every street corner writing down license plate numbers as they drive by. I would like to know how the data is used. It wouldn't take much processing power to analyze this in real time and build a database of where a vehicle is and has been. Courts would be interested in understanding where the cameras are distributed across the city.
  13. Musk made an unsolicited bid to buy OpenAI for $97.4 billion. Altman (OpenAI) responded that he's offering $9.74B to buy Twitter. (Remember Elon paid $45B) Of course, Musk only has to convince Trump to declare an AI national emergency, and confiscate control of Open AI.
  14. I recommend what I wrote in an early post: drop caffeine (sucks the first 2 weeks), general exercise and 15-20 minutes of light yoga when I first wake up. I also try taking a break a few times per day to focus on breathing: How to Perform Box Breathing: Sit or lie in a comfortable position: Close your eyes if you wish. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of four. Hold your breath for a count of four. Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of four. Hold your breath again for a count of four. Repeat steps 2-5 for as many rounds as desired. I can't say what exactly has lowered my BP 10 points but I'm hoping to get off lisinopril with my next doc appointment.
  15. I realize that he struggles to tie his shoelaces.
  16. Find it hard to get worked up over this. The decision should have been made 20 years ago but the rumor is the IL politicians didn’t want to get rid of it due to Lincoln being oh the penny. Given that so many payments are electronic, it won’t matter to for many consumers. it also doesn’t ban the penny, we just won’t make more. As they become more scarce, just round the change down.
  17. Off topic but how are insurance companies pricing comprehensive coverage for teslas in FSD mode? Taking your hands off the wheel would seem to me that you’re invalidating your coverage. There should be a reasonable expectation by the insurance companies that you are in fact controlling your vehicle. as a non-Tesla driver, I don’t want my rates to go up covering this crap.
  18. I had forgotten about Kyle. Surprised that he isnt working as one of DOGE’s wunderkinds.
  19. Why is Elon so thin in that cartoon? Hes more like the guy in the couch.
  20. Why should we believe the judge’s orders will be followed? If Elon and to a lesser extent, Treasury secretary, still want Elon to access the data, they will.
  21. I was talking to an acquaintance who I believe voted for Trump 3x due to “economic issues.” She’s fairly senior at a business/tech consulting firm which mainly works in the O&G space. They have very little exposure to federal contracts. I was asking her of the fall out for the consulting firms who are dependent on federal contracts. I let her work thru the logic that at the macro level that those firms will pivot to the private industry consulting. And at the micro level, the DOGE impact will flood her market and level with very experienced people. Why pay her mid-high 6 figures when similar experienced people will settle for half that.
  22. Not to mention that as fewer and fewer people buy new teslas, Tesla will have no choice but to either drastically lower manufacturing or slash new vehicle prices. Dropping manufacturing is drastic so lower prices would be the first option. If new cars drop 10%, that will push used vehicles prices even more.
  23. As acts of vandalism rise with Teslas, the cost of insuring a Tesla will too. Insurance companies will calculate expected increases of replacing windshields or repainting, so even if a owner’s Tesla is ok in the garage, money will be flowing out of their pocket books. as for Tesla dealerships itself, they will have costs going up with more security and higher insurance costs. Or higher repair overhead if they self insure.
  24. It wouldn’t surprise me if Tesla owners start seeing their cars surprisingly modified, like a broken windshield, when they have it in a parking lot or garage. As the fed govt cuts spending, it ultimately leads to private companies cutting jobs. Guy loses his job, walks out of a bar and sees a shiny model 3 next to his car. Doesn’t take much for the nearby rock to crack a windshield. Or walk by a Tesla, and a house key puts a long scratch down the side. vandalism is wrong but people will take their anger out on teslas. There’s a reason people in Michigan didn’t buy Japanese cars in the 70s-90s. no one cares that you like to keep cars forever and that it predates Elon’s public nazism. Your wife is supporting Elon and his actions by driving the model 3. Its that simple.
  25. Every day I’m thinking less and less of someone who drives a Tesla. Yes I understand getting rid of it does nothing to financially hurt Elon. And may financially impact the car owner. However at some point you have to decide what is more important, your morals or a few dollars. and from a practical standpoint the Tesla market may dry up soon. today could be a good day to sell a Tesla while there are buyers who are paying current market prices. In a year if not months, very few may want it.
