  1. fair point but you also don't want to deal with her for 2 days. Quite the conundrum.
  2. As some random hook up on the last night at a conference. Sure. You see her every day, nah. Too much crazy who won’t be ignored afterwards. You’re better off dropping money on a pro.
  3. The surgeon general has also warned watching or reading the news around inauguration is bad for your health.
  4. The older brothers were a good band musically. They became overshadowed behind Donnie and Marie and that style.
  5. Plenty of people have lost out on profits by trading based on politics. Be careful. (I get the concept of a trailing stop loss, but that can trigger and then run up 20%.)
  6. I can’t imagine that I will ever reactivate my facebook account.
  7. You do know that over 50% of senior citizens use a Medicare advantage plan which is a private insurance plan except it just has the name Medicare in it. It’s branded as Medicare and has nothing to do with govt other than they approved of the plan. And this is the direction that more and more senior citizens are going because of costs. Govt run Medicare is too expensive for them. If Medicare for all is actually Medicare Advantage for All, it’s no different than calling it Cigna (or Blue cross) for All. and FYI, Medicare advantage plans are considered much worse than traditional Medicare from a care perspective.
  8. UFC's Dana White joins Meta's board. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/01/06/ufcs-dana-white-joins-metas-board-weeks-before-trump-takes-office.html weird but putting a Friend of Trump on your board can be a low cost method of protecting yourself.
  9. I'm in for $9 total (taxes, fees, etc.) per month. I figured I could get a better deal but felt it wasn't worth the effort.
  10. A key component would be how is the situation handled when someone WANTS to stay out of Medicare for All. Will they be given a tax break or refund if they pursue health coverage on their own, or through their employer? I'm not asking you for the answer but I'm curious if this is optional or the only method for coverage. Personally I don't think that I've ever had insurance coverage through my employers that is worse than Medicare. Why should I switch to have worse coverage?
  11. But there are also surveys where a high percentage of people rate their insurance as excellent or good. It’s like Congress ratings. People universally hate Congress but a majority like their own rep. and while many seem to want Medicare for all, Medicare is really great because it’s highly subsidized by younger taxpayers. I’ve never seen one analysis that describes the costs of all of those younger people being moved into Medicare. Not to mention that Medicare would need to open up more coverage for areas that they never/rarely cover like pregnancies or children’s health. and finally hospitals and doctors depend on the higher reimbursements from insurance other than Medicare and Medicaid. We can tell them to suck it up and accept less revenue but there are negative impacts to Medicare for all.
  12. Can’t leave a dog in a car. Dangerous for the dog in hotter temps, and dangerous for your windows in mild temps.
  13. The AI platforms have been a hot commodity lately, see Virtuals Protocol. Another is Eliza OS which is behind the Ai16z project. The projects definitely have a meme coin feel to them but they are actual projects working to deliver a product. Very volatile pricing and as you mentioned, you can’t buy them on the major exchanges. Buyer beware on purchases.
  14. Im single so mine is different. And I was quick on my $333 quote, it’s actually double that since I forgot the quoted amount is per paycheck. Its the employees+family portion only.
  15. Insurance is $1.5k per month in premiums? I just checked any my employer has it at $333 with a $500 annual deductible.
  16. I’m in this camp. $8K/yr for someone to stay alive is acceptable to me. People are dropping more than that to drive new pickup trucks. Why are we pissed when life saving care costs that much but we’re cool about “regular” vehicles quickly being north of $70K? Funny how you never see someone complaining about their high car payment that they just signed up for 84 months.
  17. For a male, binge episode is 5 standard drinks or more. If you're drinking this much, the average doesn't matter because it's harmful drinking. If it's 4 or less per day, you can average that out over week. If you're at or under 14 and you have no binges, this is considered moderate drinking. 14 drinks a week all the way to 1 drink a month is moderate drinking for men (7 for the ladies). The CDC may say that 14 drinks per week is moderate, and therefore not harmful, but that definition is also there to support the alcohol industry. I grew up thinking it was normal for parents to have several drinks every night but later learned it’s uncommon. With 14 drinks someone is in the top 20% of drinkers not at the middle as implied by the word moderate. and no judgement I was a previously heavy drinker on weekends.
  18. One word of warning for anyone who changes jobs frequently. The switch might be needed or worthwhile but you frequently lose out on any retirement matching because you’re not fully vested yet. It needs to be considered with the overall decision.
  19. That's how it is for me. 3 drinks, especially later in the night, and I barely sleep. Maybe I'm technically asleep for a few hours but I feel like it was close to zero hours and I'm functionally at half speed the next day. And in terms of the original post about drinks and health (cancer), I'm fairly certain that poor sleep is bad for your health. For those that can handle more drinks, no judgement. I used to be able to but not anymore.
  20. My drinking level is so low these days and hangovers are so bad, I couldn't imagine the hangover with 10 drinks. Much less if I followed that up with a day of 10 more. A friend of a friend was mentioning how he normally went through a case of beer per night. That can't be good for you.
  21. not sure if serious. You're stuck on dividing your total weekend drinks by 7?
  22. 2014 analysis of drinking. Crazy how much the highest 20% of people make up of the total drinking. You have to assume that the health problems are mainly with them.
  23. Im not saying that the filing of a lawsuit indicates how it will end, but at least one lawsuit has been filed against PayPal for this.
  24. You might want to check to see if any of your banks can display your credit score whenever you log onto your web portal. I see that via Chase. Regardless it’s good to check the full reports once per year. IMO.
