  1. Yep. When Elon fires 3/4 of Twitter, it doesn’t matter if the site is slow or the search function stops working. He can always look to fix it later or not fix it. If you dump federal employees, who knows the consequences. Social security payment didn’t show up? Theres 50k people in the queue in front of you so we will get to it in a year. Your fault for being poor.
  2. The fed employees are given 1 week to decide. First red flag. Then they’re told to sign up, and just stop working. Sounds like grounds for firing them if they stop working. and let’s think what occurs when Trump and Elon refuse to pay? Perhaps somewhere down the line they will receive pay by court order or from a sympathetic Congress and President, but Trump still wins. His project 2025 goal is to drastically reduce the size of govt. he doesn’t care if it harms people or ultimately costs more money. They’re gone.
  3. It wasn't named after country Mexico. It was named after the people that lived in Mexico well before North, South and Central America was "discovered" by Europeans.
  4. You also know that there is a 24 year old Liberty University graduate who is put in charge of some of the decisions because they volunteered as Trump organizer in one of the red states.
  5. Healthcare as well.
  6. If I worked in DEI for an organization who receives money from the federal govt, I would be working to transfer to a non DEI dept yesterday. It’s obvious that defunding DEI will be a requirement to receive those funds.
  7. to each their own. If I owned a Tesla today, I would be selling it. Has nothing to do with how it impact Elon but I just wouldn't want to be associated with him. Of course I know that used Teslas have been dropping in value more than expected, so I assume that some owners are upside down which makes it painful to sell.
  8. SIAP but I've listened to some notice that when Elon says or tweets controversial, people excuse his behavior and lack of control due to Aspergers or just being weird. However it's been noticed that he's NEVER said something controversial or negative about China. He surprisingly has a strong amount of control of never criticizing the Chinese govt or system. Why? Because he needs them more than they need him. Basically the same with Russia even though I doubt his financial exposure is the same with Russia. He knows exactly what he's doing when he criticizing western democracies because he can with no material impact to his net worth. If he criticizes China, they would close his Tesla plants and perhaps cause the whole company to shut down or drastically shrink.
  9. Part of me wants to see these immigration raids lead to higher prices so the poor Trump voter will struggle to pay for groceries. However I hate that many other, good people will also suffer if we see high inflation with food and restaurant prices.
  10. Random question. Given the cost of the generators and the frequent flooding, why wouldn’t someone want their generator to be higher off the ground? I get the idea that if the first floor is under water, the generator is most likely not a concern but is there a reason not to have a generator foundation at least a foot tall? Is the actual generator already well off the ground inside the housing unit?
  11. Another dropped ball for Biden was the failure to hold that AI announcement that Trump had the other day. It’s already been set for a while but Trump walks in and spikes the football. Of course, I’m not sure Biden could have held a press conference about AI not to mention that he and his staff pretty much sulked the last 6 months.
  12. For a small amount of $, you could add an uninterruptible power supply to keep the WiFi running as the generator kicks on.
  13. I couldn’t make it far with the movie. Whole premise made no sense to me and it wasn’t difficult to guess how it would end. Maybe it would end differently, but I’ve never know.
  14. Exactly. Poland was necessary for German defense against the Russian Bolsheviks.
  15. Great points that I hadn’t thought about. Sleeping is supposed to be one of the greatest sins for an innie so Lumon may be worried that the dream mind can cross between the two worlds. I assume that Irv is talking to the former employee who helped Petey re-integrate and later killed the security lead while with Mark. It would seem too complicated to introduce another outside group. She probably had ideas on how to get a message to innie irv perhaps she did the same with petey.
  16. I don’t watch tv news but rather read news online. Why is Project 2025 rarely mentioned even though Trump is effectively following the game plan as predicted by these same news sources a few months ago. are they all backing off from Trump because they need access to the WH?
  17. As far as Irv/Burt, we don’t yet know what happened after innie Irv was banging on Burt’s door. He flipped back to outie Irv, and who knows what their conversation was after that. It’s very possible that they spoke about lumon and it piqued Burt’s interest. I assume that part of the story will play out in the next episode.
  18. ChatGPT. Just tell it you want it to write an obituary and to interview you for all of the information. you will most likely want to edit it at the end but it will get you 90% of the way. FYI. Claude.ai is a better writer than ChatGPT but there are tighter hourly limits on the interactions. It might take longer.
  19. FEMA has issues like any organization but I find that there problems mainly fall on incorrect aid expectations and the requirement to watch their budgets. in any disaster, some (many?) Americans expect FEMA to make them whole. Rebuild my house, cover lost income, buy me new shit even though I have limited if not zero insurance. And Congress forces FEMA to ensure that residents are not fleecing or lying to the US govt., so some of the recovery funds are slow. then politics gets involved and people start complaining about Ukraine aid which has zero impact on FEMA.
  20. Given that Presidents are given wide latitude in dealing with emergencies, are we just going to have one emergency declaration after another in the next 4 years? We know the GOP congress will unlikely go against Trump, so would the courts have any ability to call bs on everything being an emergency?
  21. I've gone from a decade plus season ticket holder to rarely watching the NFL. I maybe catch 2-3 games per year including the Super Bowl. I find it so inferior to college football that I would rather use Sunday to catch up on non-football crap.
  22. I assumed that they were saying Casey was her last name. Like Ms. Cobel, Mr. Milchick, and Ms. Huang. Wasn’t the security guy, Mr. Something? Hence why they’re saying Casey is her last name in the severed world.
  23. If people are going to focus on missing WH web pages, they need to take a break. Indirectly the President can do whatever they want with the WH website. No court is going to stop them. Focus on what matters not getting distracted by every slight. But you're welcome to get triggered by every tweet and news story if you want.
  24. A friend of mine has been waiting for bitcoin to drop below $10K to buy in. There was a recent point where that amount was potentially going to be hit. I haven't asked him in a while about his new buy-in point but I imagine he would now just say that it's overpriced. Layer 2 networks that sit on ethereum go fast. I believe Polygon confirms in 2-5 seconds. On par with easier transactions like credit card purchase approvals AND it settles within seconds unlike credit cards that take a couple of days. And the transaction fee is under a $0.01 at most times. In theory it could be more depending on volume. You may say that you would never want to transact in Polygon, and you're 100% correct. Systems can be configured to where funds are being transferred and the users don't need to know the intricacies. I don't know the exact details of what occurs when I tap or enter my credit card on a terminal. I just know it works. I also agree that there haven't been widespread adopted usage because banks have been forbidden to handle crypto payments or at best the regulations are murky. Allow retail banks to enter crypto and why wouldn't they want to break the VISA and MC duopoly.
  25. I’m not overly bothered that the WH is taking down pages. Honesty, I think the WH website should be a single page with info about tour hours and tickets. We don’t need to spend govt resources on all of the other crap they post on there. Fine, maybe there is a page for press releases. Two pages, and no more web development needed. if web site visitor wants to translate a page into other languages there are resources to do that for them. does anyone use the WH website as a govt resource that helps them with their job or everyday life?
