  1. We intentionally make it easy for the wrong people to get their hands on firearms. It should be expected that these people and firearms end up where we all agree they should not be there. Law enforcement is given little power to prevent it. Instead of potentially stopping the assassin at many gates along the way, we instead have limited safety enforcement at the very last step. Sometimes law enforcement is successful at stopping them, sometimes they're not. And I agree that gun restrictions will not stop all assassinations or mass murders. It will just lower the incidents. But America has decided otherwise.
  2. Time to upgrade from SD to 4K. A good 55 inch TV can be <$500.
  3. While completely stupid, it would be hilarious if the Dems become the the “we’re not eating cats” party implying the opposite of the gop.
  4. Love how everyone in these loomer media discussions avoid the obvious. Trump has other loonies in his orbit and some are attractive compared to loomer but there must be strong rumors which is putting the focus on her. Two current mentions of her on the cnn homepage. I expect some trump allies are feeding the press info hoping Trump will send her home. Trump probably can’t just kick her to the curb. She’s the type who shows up to your office when mad. In this case she can scream about their late night campaign advice sessions.
  5. Depending on Spurrier’s business interests or financial needs, if any, he may be forced to apologize or clarify his statement. If some southerners hear that he is anti-gun or woke, he could potentially lose a lot of money. both sides like to accuse each other of cancel culture but in reality they both do it.
  6. Used to work with a guy who would make jokes that came across as out of left field. After a while, a few of us figured it out by asking him about each joke. His explanation made us realize that he would listen to a real conversation and then continue the conversation in his head ultimately leading to a “funny” retort which he would say out loud. It only slightly made sense in context of the conversation in his head. Elon is most likely a very lonely guy and even if he has people around him, it’s only because of his money. That doesn’t excuse his boorish if not offensive behavior, but it’s the most likely explanation. In his mind, this tweet was a funny and clever message.
  7. I respect the guy’s actions but there’s a point that you’re just wasting your money. Which is his right.
  8. I can guarantee that this story gave some rednecks ideas on where they can easily poach duck. “ I never thought about parks or cemeteries. Let’s head out after 10 tonight.”
  9. Yeah but the following speaks to Cook's tenure. Oct 2011 (Jobs' passing) market cap: ~$375 billion Sept 2024 market cap: $3,390 billion
  10. At one point it was Comet Pizza in DC, or caravans in Mexico. Today it's apt complexes in Aurora, CO and entire cities like Springfield.
  11. Once a story gets into their echo chamber, it's impossible for facts to knock it out. They still refuse to believe that the election wasn't stolen. After all, they see 1000s of people confirming the stolen election in their news feeds, so it must be true to some extent.
  12. As an aside, would be annoying to work late in the office and the building across the way is projecting a light saber onto your office window. Almost as bad as having a Kenny Rogers' Roasters across the street.
  13. My guess is that we have two different stories from Ohio that are mistakenly but more likely intentionally combined to be anti-immigrant and racist. Crazy American citizen arrested for eating a pet cat. Allegedly someone who looks to be a Haitian immigrant (i.e. evil, black person) poaching ducks or geese from a city park. As the stories get posted and reposted on Facebook, it's turned into hordes of illegal Haitian immigrants stealing pets and eating them. I'm sure the Springfield PD has dozens of reports of cat eating Haitians because non-Springfield residents read the Facebook stories and call the police to report it. We have some who are posting this to stir up anti-immigrant hate. Then you have well intentioned but basically racist, everyday people who want to believe it. Basically DT or TexAgs folks.
  14. I'm unsure of the video that you mention but there was an Canton, Ohio woman who was arrested for abusing and eating a cat. She's an American citizen with mental issues.
  15. Garland is having a press conference today to talk about DOJ employees receiving threats. Some like to casually toss out the word, fascism, without fully understanding the term. I don't claim to be fully knowledgeable as well but I know fascism has a violent component whether threats or actual. Trump going full fascist in the next presidency is not a zero percent chance.
  16. I hate carrying things around. Minimal money wallet with an ID, couple of credit cards. Keys. Phone. Like you, AirPod Pros are now in the mix for about 1/2 of my trips away from home. If I'm grabbing lunch alone somewhere or shopping in Home Depot, why not keep listening to the podcast that I started in my car. It's probably bad for human interaction to wall myself off from others like that but it's also not like I was chatting everyone up before anyway.
  17. They're the party of the Jerry Springer Show.
  18. In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in. They're eating the cats. They're eating -- they're eating the pets of the people that live there.
  19. One can only guess the last time Melanie touched him.
  20. I could handle that someone is undecided if they follow zero politics and consume non serious news. But if you watch that debate, no one undecided could be with Trump over Harris. I also don’t think this hypothetical undecided could remain undecided after watching. and in fairness, that the same undecided person, watching the first debate, would never vote for Biden.
  21. Right. The number of people eating squirrel today in America is greater than zero. And most of them are multi generational white Americans. i wouldn’t eat squirrel but I wouldn’t put them down for doing so. Now if a WV family ate every squirrel in a county park, yeah I have a problem if someone eating habits are destroying the natural balance of wildlife.
  22. I wouldn’t be shocked if Haitian refugees collected firewood or even took wildlife to eat from an American city park. Sadly their culture and lifestyle in Haiti forced them to do without food and resources for generations. They shouldn’t capture wildlife in a park and the city or game wardens should talk with them what is acceptable here. But this is a far cry from immigrants stealing and eating pets. hunting wildlife for food is not exactly an anti-American view. I know plenty of republicans who will be hunting this Saturday morning.
  23. Why the f is JD Vance allowed to be front and center at this ceremony? I'm ok if Trump is there as an ex-President but an Ohioan senator shouldn't be at the front. And I would feel the same if Walz was there.
  24. When thinking about Apple and their AirPod Pro 2 hearing test/hearing aid feature, I give them props that they work to release new features for existing products. It would be easy for them to have added this feature plus a tiny hardware improvement and call it AirPod Pro 3. Other companies do this all the time. Now I wish Apple Intelligence would work on more older iPhone models but I give them the benefit of the doubt that there is a hardware limitation preventing it.
  25. Imagine that telling an NFL young star to take $1m out of their income, invest it in the market, and it will be worth $1.08m in a year. or possibly $950K in a down year. They wouldn't believe the return and potential loss is worth the opportunity cost of not having fun with that money. They're about spending, and at that age I wouldn't have been much different.
