  1. Sometimes, not often, I wish I could like comments though the screenshot. Best drive the Ags had all weekend lmao
  2. They caught us in a stunt and the second level messed up
  3. Sorry, to clarify, I was just providing context around Bijan's pass blocking, not trying to argue he's a winning matchup against Anderson. I think there was a breakdown somewhere along the line on that play. I originally thought Anderson was the guy left free but it was Ebiogbe.
  4. To add to this discussion on booster behavior, here's a part of Godfrey's article This will be interesting to watch across the sport moving forward. Theoretically collectives should be a little less fickle than bag man networks. That won't help A&M though.
  5. On rewatch with the broadcast angle, I see that Ebiogbe (#92 coming off the right side; Turner is guarding JWhitt) is a bigger problem than I thought. I stand by liking the play design and call though. Not sure about the OL assignments but I think someone made a mistake to allow 2 guys unblocked. And maybe that mistake was just Bijan slipping. It's Justin Ebiogbe coming off the right side. I had kind of missed that, so an immobile card may have been done for regardless. Healthy QBs have a shot against a DL re-accelerating after pausing for the play fake, but maybe Card was done for. On Bijan's pass pro: 7:44, 9:04, 9:56, 13:47, 23:41, 28:30, 31:17, 45:08, 49:56 (the play in question) at this link https://youtu.be/cgofO6tB3AU Those are all of Bijan's pass pro reps that I saw. He was flawless. His improvement over last year is amazing. 7:44 (against Anderson), 13:47 (against Anderson), 23:41, and 45:08 are especially impressive. Also, I now definitely think the tripping incident was on Card. Ewers has the same fake at 9:04. It should be right foot back, left foot forward, fake. Sets you in throwing position. Card moves his right foot first but doesn't get it back. Not blaming him because he was injured and I thought he played pretty well overall.
  6. Disagree with the discussion around that play. Sark got Whittington one-one-one against Dallas Turner. Very close to being a repeat of the deep shot to Bijan. It's an awesome play design. The key to it is that the play fake to Bijan has to hold Will Anderson, but Bama has a DB blitzing from his side so he can play down very aggressively without having to worry about edge responsibility. Then, Bijan steps on Card's foot - perhaps Card's footwork was different by a couple inches with the injury - but Bijan had been awesome as a pass blocker all day. He stonewalled Turner and Anderson multiple times. If not for a really unfortunate series of events, Card has another half second and he hits JWhitt for at least a 15 yard gain and possibly a touchdown.
  7. OB stuff from Cook (ft. comment on Arch) Also, Suchomel said that Duce Robinson's parents still came to visit this weekend.
  8. hey @immamac (everyone else can ignore)
  9. Having an IT issue (can't post on the football board). Spoilering this because I don't want to clog up the thread. Tried to post a topic in the Help forum but I wasn't able to. inb4 why would you want to post on the football board!?
  10. Brenen Thompson and Savion Red are going to be interesting data points to follow this year. Based on their early returns (along with Worthy, Neyor, and Milton), Sark's WR evals have been nails so far. Red is especially interesting since he was a Sark special with few offers and a low rating. On a related note, our favorite Sir Jeffrey Ketchup had this anecdote on Niblett this morning: "Niblett: 10.41 (100 meters), 21.25 (200 meters), 23' 6.25 (long jump)... Of the top 30 wide receivers in the country, Niblett ranks tied for second in the 100, 3rd in the 200 and 3rd in the long jump." Full stats spoilered. 14 guys had verified stats for 100 meters, 13 for 200 meters, and 11 for the long jump. Zachariah Branch and Pettaway are the other guys with equalish or better stats across all three categories.
  11. 2014 Jwest 3rd floor. 8th floor and above had been renovated that year. But I was one floor above the buffet and started my T/TH with an 11:00 on the second floor one semester. Waking up at 10:55 was glorious.
  12. It’s not about momentum. The staff has a couple guys on the board. One of them is announcing today and is gettable while we have a low chance with any of the others. So do what you gotta do to win this one and wrap up the class rather than hoping for a long shot down the line.
  13. I'll take "doesn't make me want to permanently quit sports in the midst of what should be a fun time and incredible offseason." Information and discussion related to the 2023 texas football recruiting class is a plus. motherfucker Alex Dunlap: Rivals is More Right About TJ Shanahan than 247 Sports and On3 This isn't even that bad. It goes against surly's impression of Shanahan but challenging your priors is a good thing. However, next up is a Ketch article on why we should never take 3 stars. And I'll post it non-spoilered, not in plain text, and with ads.
  14. I will continue to post orangebloods content until the thread is back on track
  15. Those quote on Hicks/Osborne could be a couple weeks old so take that fwiw
  16. Also (tangent incoming) but if I were developing an OL I would totally have them do boxing. The sport is all footwork, balance, angles, and punching. Exactly the skills an OL needs. It burns a bunch of calories so you can't do it too much but as an offseason conditioning thing I think it would be great.
  17. This. Goes with dual sport athletes as well. If a guy is playing soccer (Christian Jones, 285lb as a recruit) or basketball (Trevor Goosby, 280lb), they're not going to be 330 pounds. It also can help with development timelines within a class i.e. guys coming in <300 know they'll need a couple years before playing significantly. That's less important tho. I get that it's currently in vogue to shit on everything Herman did but this isn't a totally incorrect way to recruit OL. Our best two OL in the last decade were 260lb (Cosmi) and 275lb (Williams) as recruits. Ideally you recruit a mix with the caveat that last class had a glaring need for early contributors.
  18. I want to clarify for those that didn't listen that Pate did not name USC/Addison, A&M, or Texas. He was talking about things in general. His descriptions match with our understanding of things at these schools, but I don't want this board to run with his info in a way that he didn't intend.
  19. Also, it happened organically. It wasn't brokered through a collective or anything.
  20. Yep, the car deals are one year leases. https://www.on3.com/college/texas-longhorns/news/bijan-robinson-lamborghini-austin-deal-parternship-texas-longhorns-football-running-back-nil-name-image-likeness/ "Right now, we just want to have our brand associated with Bijan’s brand because it’s brand exposure for both parties. He wants to exude excellence on the field. That’s what Lamborghini’s brand is associated with: exuding excellence and top-notch standards. That’s really what we’re looking at the biggest piece of this partnership is between us.”
  21. You're right that stuff gets posted here that isn't super public, but you're really trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. All the stuff that you mention in this post is likely nothing compared to what recruits hear from other coaches/people negative recruiting Texas. Also, recruits aren't going to give any shits about the near hiring of Stoops or the hiring process lmao You also need to understand there's a ton of stuff that doesn't get posted on here. People like ctj and some of the 9.95ers exercise a lot of discretion before sharing information because they care about how it affects the program. The best example I can think of was Bru's transfer v1. The news of his intention to transfer leaked on Jan 24th but had been circulating in Texas circles for at least a couple days beforehand (at least the 22nd as that's when I learned about it). But nobody said anything because that was information that could negatively affect our chances in the recruitment -- see Helton and players cornering in his room to pressure him to stay once it did leak. Basically, just chill out and be thankful for people that share info on this board. It makes recruiting much more fun and gives us an inside look that we wouldn't have otherwise. And they're not going to share anything that they think would hurt the program, except maybe Carl, but I wasn't around much during his time lol
  22. There are millions of people that discuss the performance of the Texas head coach. Nobody on this board will say anything about Sark that these recruits don't see on twitter or hear from other coaches daily That's very different from spilling personal, private information about the recruit The two aren't similar. This isn't that hard
  23. Seems like Bama has been expecting him to flip (to Michigan State though). Not sure how long that has been the case or if they'll circle back to Williams.
  24. Worst case scenario we can find a late riser on the OL. There's always some kids that pop up their senior year eg Christian Jones. Before people come at me, Jones was the 5th OL take in '18 and he's a solid backup, the issue is not recruiting/developing a better tackle in the four cycles since. Recruiting a Christian Jones every year as your last take would be great. It doesn't seem like Flood's approach, but I still think the approach of growing an athletic OT is fine.
  25. Couple scratches for the late July weekend per Suchomel: Hicks is going to OU instead and Hill will not stop by before going on his A&M OV
