  1. So, just for follow up, this class is about the best case realistic scenario currently, minus Simmons and the high end OOS guys we're after. 21 commits with a 279.54 rating. So we're really not too far off. Just closing on the guys we look good for would be a really good start. Top five is usually 290+, top 3 is usually 300+. There's probably around five spots left in the class. Definitely some for OL, probably another IDL and WR, then BPAs. So, our best path to a top 3-5 would be Simmons, the OL, and maybe pulling off a random five star or taking some extra guys. Add Simmons and Mormon Johnny = 290.57. Add Daniel Calhoun and Brandon Baker = 301.20. Hearing they're confident about OL is a good sign. Oh and by the way UGA's class is already at an absurd 278.85 with 17 commits.
  2. It didn't quite reach the mythical status that the aggies have assigned to theirs, but it was the kickoff point for the 2018 class coming together and it was hyped as our big event the next couple years. The hype (for us) was really about all the prospects that are coming in for it though. Every school is going to have some kind of thing to do for their big OV weekends and pool parties are easy enough to do. So I guess the 'pool party' itself wasn't as prevalent in our dialogue but it was just a big recruiting weekend. There are some between our 18/19/20 and their 22/23/24: 18/22: Some momentum in spring, big weekend comes together and kicks off a ton off momentum (Sterns flip/bags of cash), everyone happy 19/23: Less enthusiasm (coming off 7-5/8-4) but still fixable, pool party is a chance to recover momentum 20/24: we had the sugar bowl to sell but still couldn't make headway, they're coming off 5-7
  3. We did the same thing with success back in 18/19. It was on campus at greg, not an apartment complex, but it's not that weird. The way they talk about it is weird though.
  4. IIRC his junior year was a spring league with only 6 games due to COVID and his senior year was normal. His team and competition were all kind of a wash. Didn't play much as a sophomore. He's been in training/camps/etc forever but doesn't have as many reps as most. I think he committed before even being a varsity starter.
  5. Also, there's still value in having some OKGs in the class. There are a lot of theories out there on the causes and consequences of turnover (e.g., transfers and graduates). I'll spare the details but the names will give you the gist of it: person-organization fit, organizational commitment, leader-member exchange, etc. Culture is kind of a boogey man in sports, but it's a very real thing. And having some guys that are more likely to stick around at a high turnover position that's usually filled with divas can't hurt. I don't know if Livingstone is that guy, but IIRC he was a Texas fan growing up so that's at least a start.
  6. woah woah let's noot forget Marcus Washington and Kennedy Lewis
  7. The position numbers add up to 26 but I just listed the top targets I could think of. DL especially is a crap shoot right now
  8. made some edits with strikethrough and italics And of course we'll probably find a couple kids that rise their senior year
  9. Ah yes, that game and comeback was super fun until Nick fucking Rose shanked the tying PAT Heard's performance was an unfortunate casualty of my repression of that game. Was.
  10. This is not meant as an answer to your question - I heard that the guy whose name you misspelled was considering transferring (not for tampering/PT/NIL reasons) but that Sark talked him out of it during the spring exit interview. Sharing as it's another positive data point for the culture.
  11. The Bailey pickup makes some sense. 2400 career rushing yards and they really need experienced depth at the position. The other reason it makes sense is hilarious. He started his career at Boston College in 2018 for one Coach Steve Addazio. Played three seasons there and then transferred to Colorado State in 2021, which was led by Coach Steve Addazio. Now he gets to finish his career at A&M playing for Jimbo Fisher, the man smart enough to employ Coach Steve Addazio.
  12. Isn’t Smalls the guy that was an Oregon/Washington battle and had drama about one of the schools (I think Oregon) negative recruiting the other as racist?
  13. Josh Henson (the OL coach that many of them signed to play for) is now at USC That really is a crazy coincidence though lol. Your program is one of the most vulnerable to poaching and your old OL coach just happen to leave for the most aggressive tampering team
  14. Scipio's post mortem. Here's the text version.
  15. UGA On3 updated and said Hudson will not be visiting
  16. Just for context, Sark was asked about players that have made the most progress this spring as pass rushers, not who the best pass rushers are. So not holding it against Sorrell.
  17. Well, we’ve got the three freshmen, two attrition candidates (Cain and Alexis), and two guys hoping to go to the league (Neyor and Mitchell). We probably return five. Not great but adding a guy like Micah Hudson helps obviously. We’ll be an attractive spot for transfers but impact players are expensive and we’ll have other holes to fill.
  18. that was probably just me or someone else forgetting to take him off
  19. Agree with this assessment. He's fast and he plays physically for his size. Track may slow down his development, but that was part of it from the start. Would people complain if Duce came then followed through on playing baseball? Staggering development curves isn't a bad thing regardless. We could end up a bit thin in 2024 but it's too early to start worrying about that. At least we won't have to face him if he goes to a TCU/OSU/Tech/etc. Also, I've updated the sticky with the latest developments.
  20. On Texas is IT They can push the buttons without it meaning a maturity or mental issue. It just means they're creating competition and pushing him.
  21. Chad Simmons had this in an article: 2025 4-star RB Jordon Davison The buzz: It is very early for Jordon Davison, yet the elite 2025 running back is already a national recruit with options across the country. The school trending early for him is Texas. He has visited Austin multiple times and has bonded with running backs coach Tashard Choice. Davison is very high on Texas’ board and based on intel, the feelings are mutual. Davison is not close to a decision, but the Longhorns are in a good position and I have put a pick in for Texas on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. He followed up with this in the comments: Everything I hear about Jordon Davison tells me Texas is the early favorite. I know he is HIGH on Choice, he likes Austin and he and Jerrick Gibson have been in communication as well. Gerry had this in a separate article on Gibson: In continuing to speak with a source close to Sunshine State recruiting in the Southwest part of the state, the Longhorns’ January lead for Gibson has continued to increase ahead of the June official visits. With that said, I’m entering an On3 Recruiting Prediction pick at 80% for Texas to eventually land one of the nation’s top prospects in the 2024 cycle. He's also said in some of the IT videos that a Gibson source has said they would be shocked if he didn't pick the good guys.
  22. Look man, the two categories (lock vs. should be lock) were splitting hairs from the start. It was just my attempt to distinguish from guys who are definitely going to the NFL next year (mostly upperclassmen) from underclassmen that could conceivably entertain returning with a bad year, hence the Rattler example. I'm high on both guys and not really interested a pedantic argument. Not sure why you're so offended. I'll leave this at saying I'm expecting Quinn, X, and the rest of the team to ball out this year. Conference chip here we come. PS I appreciate that you tag me whenever you insult me. I would have missed the quote notifications.
  23. Well fuck me for trying to start a substantive discussion, I guess. Let me rename the categories and move Watts and Collins. I'll also throw Gbenda and Crawford in there. Re: Ewers, I think he's a first round pick next year, but I didn't have him in the locks category because there are conceivable scenarios where he returns. What if he tears his ACL in the fall? Another year could significantly improve his grade. Spencer Rattler went from projected first overall to undrafted in a year, so it's always possible, hence my hedging. Worthy would be a case of improving stock, but again, I think he's 99% gone next year. The third category was my bad. I meant guys that are seniors+, hence locks to go pro, but that they might not be drafted. I think Watts has his COVID year though. Locks: Sweat, Ford, Jones, Barron, Collins, Sanders Should be locks Will go pro barring disaster: Worthy, Ewers I'd say locks but they might be UDFA Out of eligibility and probably UDFA: Robinson, Whittington, Watts Theoretically could happen: Murphy, Sorrell, Brooks, Crawford, Gbenda I think they'll have eligibility and questionable pro prospects: Majors, Thompson ?s: Catalon, Mitchell, Holmes
