  1. Alright for the sake of discussion: guys that could be drafted after next year Locks: Sweat, Ford, Jones, Barron, Watts, Sanders Should be locks: Worthy, Ewers I'd say locks but they might be UDFA: Robinson, Whittington Theoretically could happen: Collins, Murphy I think they'll have eligibility and questionable pro prospects: Majors, Thompson ?s: Catalon, Mitchell, Holmes Is it crazy to think we could be looking at 6-10 draftees? The most we've had since the turn of the century is 7 in 2007. Different era with COVID years and transfers, but this really speaks to the amount of talent we've got this year. Of course that cuts both ways with NIL incentivizing some guys to stay. Let's go win the damn thing.
  2. It is Terrell. His evaluations are definitely different than a lot of the sites, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse. I remember he was much higher on Cam Williams than pretty much everyone. He think Muhammad is a safety which is why he says we missed on all our corners.
  3. This Angilau writeup by an Oregon guy is worth reading. It touches on a lot of other parts of the offense (scheme, coaching). https://www.addictedtoquack.com/2023/3/22/23649443/quacking-the-roster-ol-transfer-junior-angilau "But I think Flood had a lot of work to do in reversing poor development done for the previous three years by his predecessor, Herb Hand – within the film reviewer community there’s a list floating around of position coaches whom we can’t believe keep getting work, and his name is at the top." It's beyond me how Ian Boyd gets paid to write about football when there's content like this out there for free
  4. Others have gotten into the issues with line yards. You're right when you say it's an ok metric generally - but Bijan and Rojo are not general backs. They're going to improve any kind of statistical metric. Brooks only got carries in blowouts (ULM, OU, KU). I don't even think he ran behind the starting OL so his stats can't go to support their performance. And there are services that chart every play, as you suggest. PFF and Alex Dunlap. Those all tell the story that the interior OL struggled with run blocking for much of the year but that they did have some good games. Bama was especially impressive to me. And overall, that's understandable for two young guys. The reason the narrative exists is because it's generally true.
  5. Bobby said this morning that Texas is still recruiting Duce, but Gerry reported yesterday that he hosted USC and UGA for in-homes earlier this week but not us. It's probably one of those two.
  6. Is their junior day today or tomorrow?
  7. If we're making predictions: 11 is still the base. Worthy will be the motion man We still see a lot of 12 and a healthy amount of Jumbo TE We won't see much 10 but we will see more empty Mitchell lets Sark run the offense he wants but he's not going to change what that offense is. Sark had 4 1st round receivers at Bama and still ran 11 with a lot of 12.
  8. I get Brian Hartline is a longshot, but there are two other guys you have to call and make them say no: Kyle Shanahan and Dameyune Craig
  9. Incredible I was in the camp of 'well maybe it still works for them because he's a good football mind,' then I looked up his offensive rankings... Almost as many years outside the top 50 in points per game than in the top 25 for his career. Best finish without Lamar in the past decade was 52. Last FBS offense was ranked 122. Significantly worse than I had been thinking.
  10. Y'all need to calm down. Our roster is in a good spot. I've got us for 10 wins next year even if we don't add a transfer. Assuming X stays, the offense depends far more on Quinn's development than a transfer WR. Most discussion seems to be around the defense though. This staff is going to develop players. We've got a lot of options to replace Ovie.. I haven't given up on Crawford at safety either and Holmes gives us a lot of options to move guys to that spot. PK has fielded elite defenses with far less talent than we'll have on campus in a month. It was understandable to doubt him last offseason, but personally, he's earned my trust back. They stood by a far less proven roster last year and it worked out great.
  11. Moore enters at the 30ish with the other guy at the 33ish. Pushes him out at the 12. Angle adds 3.78 (triangle would be 51 yards along sideline and he's about 20 yards inside (if hashes are 18 yards in)). We don't know where the pursuit actually started though. So let's call it 7 yards.
  12. Love it. Throwback to this classic
  13. I think this is generally a good way of looking at how our coaches are involved with recruits. But also consider that you're asking people to tattle for any scenario that doesn't play out like that.
  14. Y'all are forgetting the biggest benefit of the NLI. All the other staffs have to back off. After 2 years of bs I'd want some peace and quiet. USC has gone after Worthy twice. They've poked the bear plenty. Miami went after Derek Williams. There was also that one tweet about Hill possibly visiting the final weekend, though I'm not sure if that was legit at all.
  15. 2019 was our last decent class, though it turned out to be a disaster. De'Gabriel Floyd, David Gbenda, Marcus Tillman, Caleb Johnson, Juwan Mitchell, and Roschon Johnson.
  16. It's not about loyalty to a shoe. Look at how basketball shoes are marketed. All the star players have their own line of shoes. Stars will generate hundreds of millions of dollars to whichever company they choose. People think Nike may have lost a billion when they lost Curry. So there's a ton of incentive for these companies to get in really early with guys so that they can sign them once they get to the NBA. It's not about loyalty to a shoe, it's about getting paid a fuck ton. It's mostly a basketball thing, but it wouldn't surprise if some of the brands were willing to help some of their schools get a jump start on a couple key football prospects. Louisville makes sense as a program that is down but could garner some national airtime if they get back up.
  17. In basketball, shoe brands spend a ton of money to get kids to their schools. They'll pay for AAU teams, parent jobs, big houses for the families, give cash, etc. The reasoning is that highly ranked guys in basketball have a quicker path to the NBA and are more likely to pan out, then the brand has the inside track to signing an NBA star. It's not as big a factor in football but maybe it happens some. ETA: This stuff has been around for years, it's not an NIL thing. Maybe that's the avenue for it now but it's not new. And every shoe brand does it.
  18. lol this is my favorite part. We'd heard about him being on the basketball team and even competing to stay for the spring. This isn't what I expected. "In the midst of all that back-and-forth from the industry, where he is ranked anywhere from the top overall prospect to top 10 overall at the lowest (as of late August), Manning was a reserve for Newman's basketball team. Listed at small forward, Manning would cap his third season on the hardwood with a state championship while averaging just better than a bucket per outing. Everyone who watched him play says he was just fine with being that role player on the roster, with one onlooker calling him the best cheerleader on the team, even. "
  19. I wonder if there are any Ethan Burke-like possibilities tomorrow
  20. Bit late on this. Keilan filled the motion guy role for us this year but I don't think they'll recruit a RB/APB type for that. At Bama Sark used Jeudy, Waddle, Smith, and Metchie for that. Personally I think Niblett could be incredible there.
  21. Hill reportedly committed during the visit - hadn’t told the staff previously. I don’t think we should read too much into this staff’s twitter.
  22. Wat. Ojomo was a beast this year.
  23. God damn, I don't think the tears about us joining the SEC will ever be beaten, but the way they're turning on each other right now is up there
  24. The defense will literally implode. LBs and DBs will claw at the Earth, trying to escape as they're sucked into the vortex where our DTs should be lining up
  25. I don't expect Murphy to declare early but he'll be eligible next year and it could all come crashing down if he leaves lol
