  1. ending? lol. i'm starting to suspect that taylor sheridan is good at beginnings. yellowstone went off the rails in the second season, but it could just be that i'm tired of the lone wolf anti-hero protagonist archetype that is everywhere right now. "only i have a plan, but i'm not sharing it with anyone, even the audience" gets annoying after awhile. no wonder everyone hates you, protagonist. that goes for peaky blinders and gangs of london too. it's getting played out. the godfather came out 50 fucking years ago.
  2. for real. yall remember when al franken was an immature asshole that one time forever ago and posed to a picture where he was pretending to molest someone? yall remember how all the democrats rallied around him because they really needed his vote for this or that? oh, right. they didn't toss him out on his ear, because he was wise enough to look around, see the mood, understand that this meant he had to resign, and he gtfo, and nobody really talks that much about it any longer. neither santos nor most republicans seem to be able to understand that. good on mitt. good old boy that he is, goddamn if he doesn't look like someone i don't want to hate as a republican these days.
  3. this guy? fucking hell
  4. um, look, i'm just a common dumbass, but, uh, holing up in a vegas hotel room with a bunch of drugs, alex jones, and conspiracy video shit sounds like my idea of a party.
  5. goddammit, i snorted at "betty crocker's goon squad" that's funny shit.
  6. ever since i quit drinking, weed is the way i get through my days. it's so much better and so much different. but mostly, it's helped me in any number of ways. i won't get all new wavy on yalls asses, but it's had a massive positive effect on my anxiety, which can, at times, be fucking debilitating, if i'm honest. i'm a much more responsible and productive human being using weed instead of booze. which is kind of fucking irritating, but that's neither here nor there. it's a fucking joke that it's not legal. by itself, it would fund so much shit in this state, and the lege could actually find a way to cut our taxes oh wait lol
  7. me too. but he worked on this shit he said he was going to work on. it's not his job to be liked by me (well, ain't none of them got that job any more - i'm outside the city limits now), his job is to advocate on behalf of his constituents. he did a great job at that.
  8. lol this seems very important to you
  9. you know, as bad as i wanted that fat cunt ashley out, this situation with the saudis blows. as such, i'm sort of without a club. i'm kinda rooting fro brentford because that's a colleague's home club. but i don't really know where to turn. reflexively still watched the nufc match, and should feel pretty good about the place in the table and the cup final but it's all kind of meh.
  10. of course games are rigged. in some cases perhaps by competing interests even. what kind of weird pollyanna world do yall live in?

it's pretty much in the term normal. people are generally dismissive or deride things that make them uncomfortable. so they revert to their version of normal. it's not about the patient feeling normal or better.
  13. so what? public servants always get to double dip. why not teachers who have put in the time?
  14. yall want austin politics go ahead and start an austin politics thread on cr. please and thanks.
  15. it's always better to not insult your audience's intelligence. it's the same fucking meal. you don't need a neon sign saying "hey, look, it's the same fucking meal!!!!" nor do you even need frank saying something like "just like our first meal." in case you haven't noticed non-verbal communication is a key element to this show, and was in the game, which is part of what made it so revolutionary.

no you fucking weren't, dude. you were interested in being a fucking condescending prick because you got all this shit figured out, right? if you weren't, well, here i am telling you you are. you are a condescending prick. maybe you don't mean to be. but you are.

i'm not sure of that. i mean, poe possibly, i guess, because he has made the completely ridiculous statement that he doesn't know any gay people in real life because none live near him because he lives in some fantasy land.
  18. i told yall for years that you were gonna get a la carte and you were going to pay the same if you were lucky but probably more. why? math. my argument at the time was simply "because tom brady needs to get paid." (while i'm patting myself on the back, i also once made the bold statement that people would stop stealing music once songs were available for $0.99 with guaranteed quality. that wasn't the only reason people stopped stealing music, but it was a big fucking contributor) there is no way to completely upend an industry from the distribution side but radically redesign the cost structure from top to bottom. at the end of the day the is a number on the other side of the = sign you need to reach. content creators need $x. ask @henrygandorf. he's not taking a paycut (well, he probably is, but he probably doesn't want to) because you watch content on a premium paramount plus subscription as opposed to the paramount network on a hulu subscription or through a triple play bundle on spectrum cable. it still costs him the same amount of work to produce that content. he doesn't care. he's got the same bills to pay as yesterday. tom brady doesn't care. lorne michaels doesn't care. so the math simply doesn't work without subsidy of some kind. you have to reach that $x. someone's paying. we're paying. that's how it's going to work. because we fucking need and love our content. also, if you want a tubi or freevee experience, they are out there, and they suck. you can also probably still download sketchy mp3s if you really wanted to do so. but you get what you pay for. there's a reason hbo was able to pull off that amazing episode of last of us this week. because i (and millions of others) pay for it. you want to pay $5/mo for content, that content is going to be hot garbage.

@DalTxHornFan, you might want to go ahead and back up this claim. you can't just say " I do think that there have been many examples of schools, courts, and child protective services-type agencies intervening in these decisions." and not tell us what the hell you are talking about. first of all, you think? great, i think my wife should have a threesome with me and mila kunis tonight. as a matter of fact, i do think that there have been many examples of my wife, me, and mila kunis having a threesome.

    1) that did not happen 2) if it did, it's not the anecdote that i think you wanted it to be 3) ok, whatever, we can pretend and play your little games; let's do a little thought exercise around why a child would do such a thing. how old is the child? sometimes kids say stupid shit. it's a miracle my kids still live under my roof as many times as they threatened to run away at 8 or 9. has the child been depressed? have there been any other warning signs of mental health anguish? is the child struggling in any other area of their lives? do you even care? no, you do not care. for you it's more important that people conform to your ideas of how the world should be. see, your major problem is that you are scared of demonstrating empathy. you probably don't know why that is, and it's pretty sad. you don't try to take a look from another person's perspective except as a lens to magnify how you would act in their stead. it's all about you. how something makes you feel. what choice you would make in a given situation. of course you would choose not to be gay, queer, transsexual, whatever. why, you might wonder? because you aren't that. neither am i, so it makes it difficult to empathize. but i try to listen. that's the best i can do as a middle age white straight dude. i try to listen and i try to understand. might not always, there are some letters in the alphabet soup of "queer" (if i can even say that word) that i don't understand. that's okay, i think. i'm working on it. because this conversation is not about me. why do you think it is about you?
  22. ma always told me that'd make me sick. never once made me sick. mom was a fucking liar. next you'll tell me there's no tooth fairy
  23. maybe yall are overthinking it? i dunno
  24. i sure feel like 99 degrees on the thermometer is "warm" for my sons. when i take my temp with the digital forehead thing, i'm never above 98. usually something like 97.2. so i assume anything 2 degrees higher than me is a fever, even though i probably run cold.
  25. plus one again. there is nothing missed in this show. not a wasted moment so far.
