  1. I guess the lack of upward mobility over the last several decades is just because people are lazy now, when they weren't before when we had policies that allowed for post-WW2 prosperity.
  2. "The father of three shouldn't have kids unless he can afford them. It's immoral to expect others to pay for the care of offspring you chose to have." Why do males always disappear from the equation? Singles mothers who are the ones actually taking care of these kids < single dads who may or may not have anything to do with offspring. Your bias is obvious. And I bet you're "pro-life" too because the women (only the women) chose to open their legs so it's on them. What a sickeningly narrow world view. Cue Sack: "I don't like deadbeat dads hurr durr"
  3. Has anyone been able to get hold of home tests in Austin? No stock of Binax anywhere that I can find.
  4. which has the desirable side effect of keeping people stupid and mired in poverty
  5. I had never thought about it before but R U 4 86? Yes please, bring it on
  6. It's the LSD Church -- Latter Sammy Davis (Jr. Saints)
  7. Niiice. The "it wasn't me" defense. Multiple sources identify the number. Rick: "Hey. It wasn't me." Seems like it'd be smarter, the way things are going, to just be a dick and say there was nothing wrong with what he did. He's gotten away with everything else so far.
  8. This may be a dumb question. My spouse got the J&J gimp shot in March. Got a Moderna booster 6-8 weeks ago. Is there any synergistic effect with the J&J and Mrna booster, or is it just like you get the shit protection from J&J and then you're basically partially vaxxed with Moderna? I haven't found anything official that recommends J&J people get 2 shots of mrna to boost. Does she need another shot, esp. bc Omicron?
  9. We came back after Thanksgiving (Cancun). The airport line was horrendously long, and eventually an airport employee walked around and took a look at peoples' vax cards and neg results before we got up to the check-in agent.
  10. Rick Perry, one of the three amigos neck deep in all the Ukraine shit, can't keep away from sleaze and grift if his life depended on it
  11. I believe the drug in question is RU-486, the actual abortion pill, rather than Plan B. So yes, Huffines and his lapdog Abbott will probably get on this right away.
  12. Mother Egan's was for micks. The owner was even named Mick. Now we got the triple Mick connection. Serendipity
  13. *or should I say black fetuses, because self-proclaimed pro-life people fetishize fetuses like they are puppies or something. The actual born babies, no thanks. It's fucking pathological.
  14. Planned Parenthood is racist. Yes, that makes total sense -- that's the takeaway. Not that people of color might have fewer options in life financially and socially due to the legal and extralegal reverberations, through generations, of discrimination against them. Yes, we should definitely take away their options now, because we are most definitely, certainly not racist NOW, and we deeply, truly care very very much about black babies in our society.
  15. Whatsa matter you..... gotta no respect.... aw shaddup you face
  16. I remember that one too, we were driving south out of DFW after visiting family for Christmas, just as shit was hitting the fan.
  17. no pic of the pervert dad? How interesting Every one of those kids looks like a future Ethan Crumbley, shallow gene pool and all
  18. After the 911 calls from the school were reported that day, the mom texted him "Ethan don't do it." I mean, come on, they knew beforehand he was likely planning shit like this
  19. 2 Pfizer shots in March. 2nd shot gave me some body aches and fatigue for a few hours. With the booster (Pfizer), essentially no reaction. Maybe brief fatigue. Pre-booster antibody count in September was 561. Booster on 10/8. Post-booster count is <2500.
  20. Parents are way, way worse than I thought. Holy shit. But the fact the kid was allowed to go back to class with the things that had come to light -- just wow.
  21. This insane stubbornness of keeping the filibuster is going to cost the Dems the House and Senate. Just like I predicted last year.
  22. Literally zero of any of this balancing of rights or burden conversation has taken into account that women are the only ones to bear the burden of pregnancy and the actual burden of parenting, due to being the carrier. The disparate impact hasn't even been alluded to. Just interesting to me.
  23. That's not our experience with our middle school, kids have to have special permission to leave class, use the restroom during class, and they can't go back in the cafeteria once they come out, etc., very heavy-handed. Beyond that, I don't know. Any proposed reduction in electives or teacher planning time is bullshit. The leadership certainly doesn't advocate for the district, in terms of policy or funds contributed to the state for recapture. That's frustrating AF.
  24. You must be new to this timeline. You see, "conservatives" are very, very persecuted and oppressed. You should be able to use a private business's platform they are providing, with the terms you agree to, and then violate those terms by amplifying Neo-nazi or other violent rhetoric. It's the 'Murican way.
  25. If the Court recognizes any privacy right to reproductive decisions, then it's in SCOTUS's purview to protect that right rather than throw it to the states to allow an interest in protecting the unborn to completely override that right. And I'm sure many would disagree, but I don't see what the State's compelling interest is in "protecting the unborn" before viability in a secular republic. In a non-secular one, sure...which is why this particular SCOTUS will fail to recognize that a pregnant person's right to privacy/autonomy trumps the State's interest in the pre-viable pregnancy.
