  1. Flip timeline broken down further: Soon: NC When the Boomers are mostly dead: OH, SC, MT Within 25 years: IA, AK, TX, FL, IN, KY, WV, KS, MO, NE Never: OK, AR, LA, TN, MS, AL, ID, UT, WY, SD, ND Before that first large group flips there’s bound to be a major party shift of some kind that renders the prediction worthless. But NC is in play this cycle and OH, SC, and MT could be real battlegrounds by 2032. (PS: I don’t know shit.)
  2. I just feel like Montana is ripe for migration from the west coast to flip it within the next 15 years. With so few people and as close as it already is, it wouldn’t take much.
  3. Predicted Order of states flipping blue (compared to 2020 presidential): North Carolina, …(long gap)…Ohio, Montana, South Carolina, …(long gap)…Texas, Florida, Iowa
  4. Strained calf was my first big “fuck me im old” moment. Immobile for a month, couldn’t run for 2 months. All because I hopped down one stair. wtf. Other thing to expect/beware of is a hernia. I didn’t even do anything strenuous and all of a sudden I’m having surgery and can’t do shit for a few weeks. Like you, my trajectory over the last 5 years (ages 38-43) has me very skeptical that I will live to 70. Now I know why dudes go crazy in their mid 40s trying to capture what little life/joy they still can.
  5. We looked incredibly poorly coached last night and Hunter played about as poorly as I’ve ever seen someone with his talent level play. Why our offense didn’t run thru Disu in the 1st half, I’ll never know. Kudos to the team for clawing back into the game, but based on my view from last night, the tourney would be a waste of time for this team, and the longer we let Terry hang around the worse off we’ll be.
  6. No Pritzker? I feel like a Newsome/Warnock ticket or a Whitmer/Kelly ticket would crush it in 2028. I personally like Beshear. Pete and AOC might be the two most intelligent, charismatic politicians in the country right now but I feel like they both will have a hard time getting into the POTUS or Vp slot.
  7. I think Caratini (and Coleman and the other lesser adds) were Brown, but Hader and Altuve were mainly Crane. I think any spend over about $30M will be Crane’s idea and he will be the lead negotiator.
  8. 1-4 got done, with #4 way over my expectations. Theres still quite a few decent players available so #6 may happen too. I doubt #5 and #7 will happen but if they sign a SP I could see Urquidy traded for prospects.
  9. It’ll be at Liberty or it won’t be affiliated with a school.
  10. I agree with just about all of this. I think there will be 2 main drivers that reduce the number of schools who play: money and injuries. Schools on the coasts will opt out because football is dangerous; they may try to start playing with much different rules that dramatically reduce injury risk, but I don’t see how that will appeal to enough people to generate the same money. I half expect soccer to take hold as the main sport in those areas. Smaller schools will be forced out because they won’t be making money; some of those schools may field teams that play at a lower level with unpaid players, similar to the old days. To your point about the ability to opt out of classes, I don’t think that will be necessary; I think there will be degree plans made up that allow athletes to get credit for all the training activities they already do and will let them out of attending lower level coursework where they have to mingle with all the other students. Those degree plans are pretty much already in place, I think they will just be taken the rest of the way such that all these guys have to do is practice and play football. I do think the NFL’s popularity will be a leading indicator for college football. As long as the NFL remains popular, there will be enough demand to keep the 30-60 most viable schools going.
  11. Another decade?! FUCK that. Ideal scenario is he suffers a MASSIVE stroke and spends 2-3 weeks flubbering around in a hospital bed, gasping for air and suffering while screaming incomprehensible gibberish, with frequent videos leaking out with false reports that he’s recovering. Then he dies. And that video leaks too.
  12. It’ll be the ONE time that piece of shit actually does have the biggest crowds ever for something.
  13. Bin Laden’s death will be NOTHING compared to Trump’s. Maybe if Trump lives another 15+ years and doesn’t die until he’s been completely out of the spotlight for 5+ years. Maybe. But if he dies this decade a shitload of people are going to be partying like nothing we’ve seen in the last 70 years.
  14. I might be wrong, but I think a lot of people are going to be utterly shocked at how much intense public celebration there will be when Trump dies, especially if it happens within the next 5 years.
  15. Kennedy: Farmer (downgrade) Campbell : Gasparino (push) Brown : Brown (upgrade) Guillemette : Schuessler/Galvan (downgrade) O’Dowd : O’Dowd (upgrade) Daly : Powell (push) Thomas : Thomas (upgrade) Flores : Flores (upgrade) Duplantier : Misc (push)
  16. 2 true freshman in the starting OF is high risk, as is counting on Witt as an ace. But I am excited about our team and their ceiling is very high.
  17. I’ve kinda figured for the last few years that Rubio was the one laying back in the cut waiting for Trumps time to end.
  18. Has the US ever gotten the economic benefits of the war machine without risking American soldiers’ lives? Everybody wins. (Except the Russians and Ukrainians.)
  19. The CHIPS Act and the infrastructure bill sure seems like some of the best money the US Govt will ever spend. The IRA and PACT seem like they’re too big, but needed to be done. ARPA seems like it was big mistake that exacerbated inflation and paid a lot of the wrong people. Still, overall that’s a very good resume for old Joe.
  20. I bought a home in north central Austin for $128k in 2007. It rented for ~$1300 at the time. Now it’s worth $400k and rents for only $2200. The math just doesn’t work right now.
  21. It’s the clearest anecdote I have seen of how fucking stupid those people are. I know several people who did it. And these are people who also believe anyone disfiguring a private business with graffiti and shit should be shot. But it really is amazing to me how every major policy complaint about Biden from those fuckers has been addressed. Inflation. Boom, fixed. Dependence on foreign oil. Boom, fixed. Economic growth. Boom, fixed. And now he’s got congress agreed to a deal to address the border.
  22. Where are all your “I did that” gas pump stickers now you dumb motherfuckers
  23. That comment “hear me out” made me lmfao
  24. If you feel like your boss/principal is the source of your anxiety, change schools. A fresh start might do the trick. If you’re getting anxiety from criticism anywhere (including outside of work), then maybe a visit to a therapist and doc will help. There are meds that you can take only when you are feeling acutely anxious rather than taking every day. Xanax is the most popular but Clonazepam worked better for me; if you have an addictive personality then those might not be a good idea but they were moderately helpful for me.
