  1. Yes... the knowledge that a resident of ND, for example, has like 8x the voting power on a federal level than I do is just bullshit. Electoral College = Federal Gerrymandering is a great way to phrase it.
  2. The status quo It all needs to be burnt to the ground.
  3. I would love to agree, but given what you've seen the party do the last several years... what's the most likely outcome? https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/kamala-harris-says-she-not-190003541.html
  4. But yes, the entire Democratic Party apparatus, from leadership, to marketing, to strategists, even to fundraising needs to be excommunicated. This is the party that managed to lose to Trump, twice. You know that lifelong politicians across the globe have been shaking their head in dismay at the party's results when running against the embarrassment that is the current GOP. Saw an article earlier that Kamala isn't going to run for Gov of CA, which makes all signs point to her making another run for President. Any money spent on that campaign may as well be lit on fire. How the people in charge of the party aren't laughing her out of the room with this idea to run again says everything we need to know about the party's future. What's that famous Jeff Daniels quote? You know why people don't like liberals? Cause they lose. If liberals are so fucking smart, how come they lose so god damn always?
  5. It's going to take some sort of cataclysmic catalyst for any third party to have a viable chance at election success. And by catalyst, I mean nothing short of WW2/Great Depression sort of suffering, where everyone feels the pain, regardless of where they fall on the wealth spectrum (who am I kidding the 1% will always live a life of luxury, even if they're ruling over the ashes). I don't see any other route for a 3rd party to come to national prominence.
  6. Today's Democratic leadership are basically 90s republicans in disguise. Fuck right off Jeffries/Schumer/Pelosi. If Mamdani's last name was Smith they'd be hailing him as the second coming of FDR.
  7. At this point if you have any white collar positions at your company and you're not using ChatGPT or some form of Generative text, you're falling behind.
  8. According to my staff ICE was going door to door in downtown Sarasota, FL this week knocking and asking for documentation from the residents.
  9. IIRC in his season where Spieth went nuts, he was making twice as many putts from 20'+ than anyone on tour. His ballstriking was... ok. His driving was... ok. Irons were... ok. Putting was a combination of prime Brad Faxon and God himself. I don't care who you are, that is not sustainable and was the only reason for his incredible run. Once those stopped falling, it was an inevitable decline.
  10. So… what’s the kill switch option for the board here @immamac? If there’s a list of “homegrown” offenders, and there will be a list, includes some of us less… eh… “administration-friendly” types around here could be slightly concerned.
  11. This WH Press Conf is rage inducing... Throwing reporter under the bus... literal definition of "Don't believe the evidence of your eyes and ears" FUCKKKKKKKK!!!!! I will go to my grave not knowing how people can get in front of cameras and just lie... and lie... and lie... and their supporters KNOW they're lying, but they DON'T CARE... Someone make it make sense please.
  12. I can speak to this... Had our first kid six months before COVID really became a thing. I was a Golf Pro at the time. My wife worked in admin for construction. We were both "Essential Workers" and stayed working through the entirety of the pandemic. Dealing with the general Publix during that time, let alone the Boomers... I'm still reeling from it. Golf Courses had to remain open, a window construction company needed to remain open. Not sure that the hell was "Essential" about either of those, but going to work every day hoping you don't bring home the virus to a baby, especially in the early days where we didn't know much about it and who was affected more severely. We got to watch our friends take six or more months off, making more than we were from the increased unemployment. A pseudo... "break" in the grind that is adult life, while we just kept soldiering on. That is and was beyond exhausting. Couple that with ridiculous inflation from said virus and the worst management of a health crisis in modern history, and the fact that the American Dream has been dead for decades, oh and the fact that we're just subject to daily utter chaos since TFG is back in office, how are we not broken? I'm fucking tired, man.
  13. Unbelievable. I mean, it's absolutely believable and 100% expected, but I still shake my head in bewilderment at where we're at right now, and how the last five weeks have felt like five decades.
  14. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK with the DOJ and this suing Starbucks for not having enough white men on the payroll… Republicans are celebrating this shit. I’ve never in my life been more apathetic and pessimistic about the future my son will inherit in this country. Decades happen in a week? We’re going backwards a century in three weeks basically.
  15. Daycare for a five year old Health Insurance (not great either) for me, wife, five year old Totals ~$30,000/yr That's our floor. Fuck this system.
  16. This is beyond spot on.
  17. A spade's a spade. Sorry you have the blinders on. You do you, I'll do me.
  18. I wonder if some of the residents of El Salvador, Guatemala, etc. are also this indignant to their fellow countrymen who are looking at leaving to provide a better, more stable upbringing for their kids and pack up to head to the United States. I don't want my son growing up where this sort of discourse and commentary from a "leader" is acceptable. This isn't about "winning" as you seem to think, but about me making a choice on where I think my family, and future generations, will have the best chance of leaving a happy, contributory life.
  19. You say that, but this is different than before. We know exactly their plan, the guardrails from our institutions in 2016 are gone, and the adults have left the room. I’m a white male who made an uninformed vote for the man in 2016, but that doesn’t mean I can’t read the room.
  20. This may seem like reactionary hyperbole, but my wife and I are serious about looking elsewhere for us and our son to live. I have a fantastic career, with a CEO (D) that is great to work for. However, southwest Florida is not… The best school system/curriculum, super touristy and cost of living is sky high, predominantly republican, and other annoyances. Completely ignoring the fact that abortion didn’t pass (yes I understand our completely fucked up 60% rule for these measures in FL) Both of us would be terrible teachers, so homeschooling is out of the question. Also, we both heavily believe in the socialization benefits that come from attending public school. However, we have zero desire for him to be a product of this school system. I could go on and on, but ultimately after this election we’ve realized that the good ol US of A isn’t what it once was. Seeing GenZ move towards the right makes us, as Millenials, now feel like outcasts in our own country. The last gasp of the Baby Boomers… convincing GenZ to think like them. We’ve lost hope that the ship can be course corrected. There are numerous other countries around the world offering comparable or better standard of living, social benefits, and healthcare, that are more aligned with our beliefs. We aren’t that concerned with climate either (she grew up in the Midwest and now FL, while I was born and raised in La Porte/Kemah area, before spending decent chunks of time in New England and now FL). It’s obviously a potentially completely life altering move for us, but one we feel is necessary for our son to grow up in a place better than where we are both currently and headed to. We have enough equity in our assets to be able to walk away from all debt with $100,000 in liquid assets to relocate with. I would be able to maintain employment for at least the short term. What I’m hoping surly can help with, is which of these countries are actually feasible? Has anyone done this before?
  21. Beyond preconceived worst case scenarios
  22. No regrets on the campaign. I thought they did great. I overestimated my fellow American citizen, drastically. This country has core, fundamental issues rooted too deeply in religion and racism. Fuck.
  23. If I can throw my own anecdotal non-quantifiable local observations on the pile... Living in Sarasota, FL... about as red (and old... and white...) as it gets here... there are literally ZERO trump flags and trucks/etc this year compared to 2020. 2020 we had truck parades of his supporters with dozens of their flags driving around coal-rolling everywhere... merchandise stands popped up on streets in numerous places selling Trump/Pence shirts... Now? This year? I honked vigorously at a collection of Harris/Walz folks on a major intersection yesterday. FL has both abortion and legal weed on the ballot, so it gives hope of going back blue... but there's a LOT of republican transplants from CA/NY that have moved here since 2020. Trump enthusiasm locally is not even measurable compared to four years ago.
  24. Inland towards Lakewood Ranch... Coquina shells hurt the most when stepped on barefoot. Speaking from numerous experiences.
  25. Well this blows
