  1. wtf is this
  2. As someone about to purchase a new home, rate cuts sound good to me for the short-term. As someone worried about the long term health of the country, rate cuts do not sound good.
  3. This is insane. Someone said it earlier and I think it's true. Burrow is the best NFL prospect since Luck. I don't care if you're playing the Little Sisters of the Poor, 7 TDs in a half is amazing, let alone in the first half of the fucking CFP Semifinal.
  4. God speed. Had our first via emergency csection last Weds after they lost the heartbeat completely. I haven't had the easiest life by any means, but I'd never experienced the pure terror I felt as the nurses wheeled her towards the OR as fast as they could. Thankfully we are home now and mom/son are fine. But that fear during those few moments I will never forget. Positive note: Being a dad is unequivocally the most amazing experience.
  5. Bravo
  6. My wife and I are actually on the higher end of the millennial financial chain, and we STILL have to spend ~8% of our income on health insurance premiums alone for us and our son. Which means if something goes really wrong health-wise, we are fucked. Savings? Gone. House equity (Yes, we actually have some because my wife was a genius and bought our house in 2010 and it's appreciated)? Gone. I've been relatively successful so far in my career, and am way ahead of where I should be at this age in my field, and it's still not a ton of $. My upside is quite high, but there's a corporate ladder more or less to climb. We live within our means, but are still one bad accident away from losing all our safety nets. That's beyond frightening. Living somewhere were the average age is basically Boomers everywhere, I am shocked all the time at how simple some of their lives must have been for them to be able to make it this far in life. I literally had a guy ask me why the Air Force doesn't fly a bunch of planes in the opposite directions of a hurricane's wind pattern in order to stop the storm. He was honestly curious. The difference for my generation, is that I realize that guy isn't all Boomers. I've met plenty that are sharp as can be, educated and decent people overall. So while you see a story on Fox about how a small (literally 200-300 kids in the world tops) making millions off playing video games and being on Youtube, you (Smax) generalize that story and let yourself believe that's what we all do. Play video games and bitch and moan while waving around our useless degrees. I bust my ass each day to try to get ahead in life so that my son has more opportunities than I had growing up. My wife does the same. So for you to blame our iPhones (which, to be honest, is almost a necessity in today's world) and student loans (Don't forget it was your generation that demands a minimum four-year degree on every damn job posting), I say from my generation to you: Go fuck yourself you ignorant fuck. Typing that out actually feels better
  7. As someone who actually follows the storms to the point of it being a hobby, I can PROMISE you, at no point, ever, at all, did anyone ever say that the cone (which didn't include Alabama) had a 95% chance of accuracy. That's so patently wrong, that I can't even imagine someone else feeding the lie to him, it had to be something he just flat out made up on the spot.
  8. That was Wednesday's map... as in, LAST Wednesday...
  9. So you post an image with an image so pixelated that I'm having flashbacks to the late 90s. Then you also give a link to the story, where one would presumably assume said image is discussed. However, the link provides zero new context or information about the issue, nor does it provide even a link to the image that I can find. 2/10 post, would not read again
  10. You know as well as I do, that someone behind the scenes is making enough to retire many times over just by having slight advance notice of Trump's tariffs/tweets. MANY times over.
  11. How's your August?
  12. I mean, the guy has always been a few eggs short of a dozen... but this week has been horrible, even for him. Either he's an absolute moron, even more of one than many think, or he's actually having fun joking about the DOW dropping 2%, affecting people's savings/retirement/etc. No matter which answer is correct, neither are fit to hold that office. Trump followers that truly think he knows better than the Fed about how to stave off recession... I just don't have words anymore. I'm tired of sighing, rolling my eyes, and wondering what my first child (on the way!) will be born into down the road. Hopefully these four years are just an "Oops, our bad. -America" footnote in the history books.
  13. Don't get me wrong, I still have people that are (older) friends of friends that I want to call out their hypocrisy so badly, but at best, it would be a pyrrhic victory. Examples such as: "These mass shooters better hope they don't start shooting someplace where I am, I have my CCL, and I will put a stop to any attempts at mass murder" Narrator: Bullshit. You would run and hide for cover like everyone else, pulling out a pistol to have a firefight with someone wielding an AR isn't going to go well for you. "The recession won't matter to me! I was smart and lived below my means for years, anyone hurt by the recession basically deserves it." Narrator: Seeing the constant stream of "I got mine, fuck you and yours" get tiring. I'm an older millennial, but my wife and I have both figured out that it's going to be up to Gen X/Millennials to fix the world. It feels like we are seeing the last vestiges of Boomer political power. I honestly can count on both hands the amount of Trump supporters in my age group that I know. If Gen X/Millennials actually get out to vote, it should be a landslide Dem victory next election.
  14. As much as the thought of a second Trump term worries me, it seems like in the last three to four weeks momentum has greatly shifted away from that outcome. The economy slowing, trade war losing, gun violence AGAIN, and other things all seemingly being potentially too much for Trump to shrug off. Ya, ya, ya... queue the "I'd like to see ol Donny Trump wriggle his way out of this!", but it definitely feels like there may be a light at the end of the tunnel for us waiting out this administration. Are some Trump supporters actually starting to question if this really is the best direction for the country, or is this just wishful thinking?
  15. Yes, because four more years of Trump would definitely be better than someone you think lied about her Republican past. No, you're right, can't have someone who lies about something like that in the White House! You guys wonder why the left says you'll find any excuse to vote Trump again? Because right there, you're rationalizing that "I think Warren lied about that, so it's fine that Trump lies every other sentence. Same thing!" Again, to restate: You would rather Trump be president over anyone else you think has ever lied about anything basically.
  16. On the bright side, I have NEVER seen the differing political subreddits all agree on something: The dude was murdered
  17. People don't realize how many dominoes have fallen in favor of the 2nd amendment. Throw one marble in the road and no one will notice. Turn over a bucket full of marbles and someone's going to slip and fall.
  18. I 'm a big fan of Pete, I think he might be one of the sharpest candidates we've had in awhile. He might be a little green for this go-round, but I think a VP/Cabinet position would set him up really well for the future. Really though, we need more candidates like Pete on both sides (somehow it's possible to use "both sides" in a good way finally.) Candidates that are smarter, YOUNGER, and have a vested interest in the future of the country rather than just the next election cycle. It's probably an empty prospect of that happening, but one can hope.
  19. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democrats-denounce-white-nationalism-after-el-paso-massacre Read the comments section. "What you're seeing and what you're hearing is not what is happening" in full force.
  20. What does it take for people to actually realize what trump is saying has consequences? If that “manifesto” going around is true, which basically says his goal was to “cleanse Texas of Hispanic invasion” and he wants to “send them back”, what does it fucking take for people to realize how close we are to this shit happening daily?
  21. Your avatar perfectly fit my reaction to reading this For the lazy -
  22. The next Bill Simmons podcast should be amazing
  23. I actually agree with this. If no KD, I'm pretty sure CLE wins handily in 2017. That CLE team was actually really, really good, they just ran into the absolutely best incarnation of these GSW teams.
