  1. Yes, becoming common in hipper bars/restaurants where I live, along with Narcan.
  2. Long story short, most is lost to groundwater but these storms are the still the state’s largest source of water via the snowpack (which is generally 2x larger right now than usual this time of year) Sorry for everyone who had to cancel trips, this sucks.
  3. Yes, but more rain during the weekend unfortunately.
  4. That’s almost four hours away, I consider those different trips. But Cambria is a really cool little town. Lodging is pretty modest, but tbf we just stay at something cheap as we are driving through. But if you are staying in the area I have to toss out the Madonna Inn, just cuz.
  5. Staying in Los Olivos? Nice. Bar le Côte is incredible.
  6. Serious answer: it’s a strong stack of storms, another coming in on Friday and a stronger one Monday. Parks aren’t going to happen, nor will a drive to Monterey. But these are not Texas storms - just a constant drizzle for the most part. If you’re fine bar hopping during the day and checking out sights during breaks in the rain you’ll have a good time.
  7. They are the biggest source of water for the state. Reservoirs expecting impacts from the atmospheric rivers actually have to decide to release water, which from what I understand is a difficult task because it’s hard to know where the rain will hit into landfall. But yeah the ground is already soaked from last week’s rain and there should be some flooding.
  8. Prob one of the hardest videos to watch so far and not even that graphic. I can’t imagine doing what this guy did. Fuck this war.
  9. 21ers? Angry right now but are going to be great.
  10. Tell me you don’t live in San Francisco without telling me you don’t live in San Francisco. FFS again, all I’m saying is for once this moron’s point, or really sentiment, is fairly widely-shared, which is simply an eye roll at how our city can’t build a public toilet for less than $1.7M or get new housing built in less than decade but of course jumps into action at the opportunity to publicly on a tech company. That’s it.
  11. Oh ffs he was commenting on the across the board ineptitude of San Francisco government except when it comes to performative shitting on tech companies, which is a fair point. I’m not defending him but was clarifying that he was referring to a real incident, not Halloween fentanyl moral panic.
  12. He’s referring to a 10-month old that somehow ingested fentanyl last week in one of the nicest areas of the city, which is, I hate a say, a fair point to make.
  13. I mean Stuart Long relinquished ownership over a decade ago and it came back under new ownership and not nearly as gritty. But by god, for Texas staffers of a certain era Hawk & Dove > T Coast > Smith Point was an epic night. On a related note, so weird to see how Bo Blair and Reed Landry became somewhat legit breaking out of Georgetown from their LNS days. DC has changed immensely.
  14. No finer producer of Aligote, IMO. Thanksgiving was straight champagne.
  15. But she let a Confederate flag fly outside City Hall!
  16. Yes, I agree. I mean the pre-MAGA tea partiers were deranged at all Dems at that point but it was the whole “pass the bill so we can read it” thing that made her a target.
  17. SIAP…follow up to the supposed 120mm direct hit video.
  18. I fucking love Alex Padilla. Dude has (knock on wood) been a diligent public servant in environments that encourage corruption, and as a Latino I’m admittedly biased to say I’m super proud of his accomplishments. It may be minor, but his intervention in the Martinez scandal was very impressive to me as it shows he’s asserting leadership in the CA Democratic Party. He has my vote. I have absolutely nothing against Southern California non-MAGA politics, I just think it would be wild to flip Senate representation after most of my life has been DiFi (SF), Babs (Marin) and Kamala (SF…ish).
  19. I wasn’t referring to the social divide, but rather the dynamic of Bay Area over-representation in statewide offices due to lower voter participation in Southern California. I didn’t mean to overstate it, but it’s nice, particularly when folks from the SF machine are in office. There’s a reason HCD directed its first probe at SF. Hell, Newsom killed SF’s $1.7M public toilet. I’ve always taken DiFi’s influence for granted, just think it’ll be interesting how that void is filled.
  20. The regions are just two very distinct political machines and it’s nice to have regional representation. For example, housing is an issue for all of California but IMO SoCal doesn’t take it seriously as the Bay does; it’s been super helpful to have Gavin Newsom get directly involved in SF housing battles and we wouldn’t have that progress if, say, Garcetti were governor. Likewise, it was helpful for LA to have Padilla throw his weight around to help resolve the Nury Martinez & co. debacle. DiFi didn’t give a shit.
