  1. Last signing day and coaching hires, at least on paper, seemed positive. Outside of that, it's hard to find many others. I'm going the "choose optimism bc I'm a fan" route, but I know full well it's blind optimism not rooted in much. I tuned out entirely after the ou collapse this year, something I didn't even do that early in the season during the Charlie years. Like any fan, I'll get excited again for next season, but it won't take much for me to tune out again if things don't look massively improved. After 11 years of believing we'll turn the corner, it's pretty easy to see when we haven't and find other uses for that Saturday time.
  2. Tbh I was shocked when Brent Z posted something questioning the official story, and had to go make sure it was actually him and not a fake account. My guess is that, for at least a few minutes, he got mad that he was blatantly lied to about something so easy to disprove, and posted his real thoughts on the situation. I'm sure someone in the aggy admin put in a friendly call reminding him what hand feeds him, after which he stepped back in line. I didn't save the tweet, but hope someone else did. It was a rare moment of independent thought for Brent. Must have been frightening for him.
  3. For anyone who didn't follow the whole walk on QB/Brent Z Twitter thing: 1) aggy announces they're bravely running away from playing wake forest 2) national media hurts aggy's feelings by calling their running away not so brave 3) Brent Z is told a lie, which he proceeds to print, that even the walk on QB was not available due to CO-VID 4) Walk on QB owns Brent and aggy with a tweet showing his multiple negative test results and proving he was eligible to play 5) Brent Z responds to walk on's tweet in a way that appears to doubt what he was originally told by aggy admin 6) Both the walk on qb's tweet and Brent's response to it magically disappear, nothing to see here 7) Now only the original tweet with the lie from Brent Z about the walk on being unavailable is still alive on Twitter 8) The health and safety of the walk on QB are unknown and likely in doubt after he publicly shamed the ministry North Korea is actually blushing at the brazenness of the whole ordeal.
  4. Trying to catch up on this thread a day late is like trying to read about a Chinese government blunder a day later. Every tweet and texags post linked here has been completely scrubbed, even the Brent Z tweet about the backup QB disputing his eligibility. The ministry must be working overtime to make this disappear.
  5. This year suggested to me that none of our defensive coaches want to coach pk's scheme...including pk.
  6. The details have been covered here before, but this should catch you up.
  7. Say it with me one more time: they. don't. even. have. a. defensive. coordinator. Out Georgia'ing Georgia is...something.
  8. I haven't paid much attention to aggy's class. I knew it was good, but I was surprised to see that they have 4 of 247s top 10 national players in their class. What is most surprising is that 3 of those players are on defense. Has any school ever signed three of the top 10 players in the country on a side of the ball for which they don't have a staff? I guess I could see Saban doing this on defense, given everyone knows it's Saban's defense, but with aggy the defense is a complete question mark with Elko gone. Those five star out of state guys must have really fallen in love with the spirit of aggyland to have stayed committed even after losing their coordinator. It's really quite something.
  9. He really is perfect for aggy, claiming hypothetical domination of contests in which he didn't participate.
  10. Every year until this one. Jimbo notoriously mismanages this position, and this year some cracks definitely started to show. Not sure they've done anything here to fix that. I know us talking about underperforming oline is ironic after this season, but at least we're making some progress with this class.
  11. There was a great pic this week of Worthy showing Stewart a screenshot of Demas season stats. That guy was considered a can't miss star receiver, and he's done shit in Jimbo's offense. Of all of Stewart's options, aggy makes by far the least sense, unless playing and production are secondary priorities.
  12. I like Stewart. He's an idiot if he signs at aggy given his talent and how they waste wrs, but if he's signing there he's sure as hell milking them for all that he can with these last minute tactics. Can you imagine the dumb money aggy would throw at him to avoid the optics on a five star recruit flipping to Texas on signing day? Either he'll flip to us, or he's making a paycheck play, in which case he might as well leverage their insecurity for every last dollar he can
  13. I appreciate Vance for who he has been to Texas, but if the thought is that adding Gary Patterson to our defensive staff could possibly result in a worse result than what we fielded last season, it's fucking laughable. Sure, you need to set it up well so that everyone knows their role, but if you have significant struggles on one side of the ball and a legit top 10 coach waiting in the wings, you don't say no to avoid a crowded room. If nothing else, Sark has to make this move in case PK starts next season like he ended this one. I know one season is quick to cut a coordinator, but the results were bad enough to suggest you need a safety valve. If he waits two full seasons to replace a failing coordinator hire, he'll be out after three years and we'll be hiring DC number 12 in the last 3 seasons, or something like that.
  14. It was always going to be an uphill battle swaying a talented wr once they're sold on playing in Jimbo's offense. I'm sure the entire recruiting pitch was just watching all 45 seconds of Demas career highlight reel. $ometime$ their pitch ju$t beat$ your pitch.
  15. I mean, I hope we will, but we didn't just go all out to land the #1 qb recruit not to throw the ball.
  16. Real question here, as I'm baffled by what's happening on defense and trying to understand possible reasons. When sark was hired, everyone noted it was fairly unusual that a bunch of defensive coaches were hired before the DC. Do we have defensive coaching staff that wasn't really put together in a complimentary way? I remember this being a big issue with Diaz and Akina...Akina was a great coach but not at all for Diaz scheme. Maybe our issues are more simple, don't have great talent, players aren't executing, scheme isn't great regardless of position coaching, but on paper this should be a good defensive staff. How are we diaz-level bad?
  17. They did a great job of decoying Bijan in the first half when they were dialed in on him. In the second, we just had him run right at them too much, and they were still dialed in. Not sure why we stopped using him to draw their attention and open things up.
  18. It's seven am Morning of Texas ou And ou still sucks
  19. They've always controlled their own destiny, they just run out of destiny.
  20. It legitimately is a bit like the North Korean press announcing a military exercise did not go quite as they planned. Anything less than sunshine means it's a fucking disaster.
  21. I mean, that update from tarp basically reads that way. They have conditions for king coming back and first is better protection. Think about that for a minute...king could be ready to come back, but Fisher tells Calzada they're riding with him until the oline is no longer likely to get the QB hurt. Wow.
