  1. I drove by the Tinseltown movie theater in pflugerville yesterday and there were thousands of people hanging out in the parking lot. Tons of Mexican flags. Not sure if it was a cinco de mayo celebration or something but it made me never want to leave my house again.
  2. Dude, TSU is not the preferred nomenclature. Txst please.
  3. My employer covers almost all of mine but I pay about $750 a month to have my wife on my insurance.
  4. On my sportsbook Trump was -150 last week. Steadily declined to -120 today.
  5. The election is largely a referendum on trump and is not about biden, much less his VP pick. However, for the few fence sitters out there, a good vp pick will matter because biden is so old. I think it will really start to show as heavy duty campaigning goes on. You can squash a lot of the “one heartbeat away from the presidency” nonsense by having a solid vp lined up. For the record, when I say fence sitters, I’m not talking about people deciding between biden and trump. I’m talking about people deciding to get off their couch and vote or not.
  6. Whitmer’s father was the president and ceo of blue cross blue shield of Michigan for 18 years. She has said that single payer healthcare is unrealistic. She may be the best option but I feel like we are completely punting on healthcare this election. Its fine if we get the dotard out, which has to be goal one. But, it’s just amazing to me how you can rise to prominence in the Democratic Party with these views.
  7. I have worked with many republican Mexican-Americans in my life. They each have their own story, but a common thread is their view of the hard work they do and people on welfare. They don’t believe in excuses and the reasons I give for people accessing government benefits just sound like excuses to them. Most come from the valley or other largely Hispanic areas and have stories of egregious abuses of the “welfare system”. It’s a tough group for democrats to reach. But, don’t lose sight of the fact that Texas Democrats won the Hispanic vote by a large margin in 2016 AND this is a group that has low turnout. Any improvement in turnout will likely see an improvement in that margin.
  8. It really wouldn’t take a monumental shift in those poll numbers for Biden to be even with trump. I would be shocked if trump gets 16% of the Texas black vote as he got 11% last time. In 2016 Trump lost the female vote by 2%. I can’t see him making a comeback with that demographic based on his first term. Yet the poll has it 46-46. Clinton won the Latino vote 61-34. Any poll that has this as a close demographic is just wrong. Seeing some of those numbers so far off yet the overall results with Biden being close could be seen as really encouraging. Or it’s all crap, just throw it out.
  9. I have never been under any illusions that a state as large as Texas is ever going to make any drastic political shifts in 4 years. It was 9 in the last election. Within 5 is my goal for 2020. That sets us up for a real run at it in 2024. After that the demographics start to change much more rapidly as boomers begin their steep decline.
  10. Fucking white people...
  11. “In the poll, Trump beat Biden 60% to 34% among white voters“ Another interesting note was that trump and Biden were tied 46%-46% with women. Even with all of that going on Trump is only up 5% in this poll.
  12. Two chicks at the same time
  13. The biggest problem for kamala is having to walk back calling Biden a racist. In every other way she is the right pick. AND it’s not like her comments about racism are going to shift people to trump. I say go with her because nobody else will check as many boxes.
  14. Heat island effect with the growth?
  15. Education is/was real hot and was driving a lot of their numbers during the transition to learning at home. It’s about to get frigid cold though. My district already has frozen just about all types of spending outside of salaries/utilities and has a hiring freeze.
  16. The odds from my gambling site have trump overall -150 and -500 for Texas. If you really believe he will lose Texas then go get rich betting Biden.
  17. Strange. My neighbor has worked for dell since damn near the beginning and he said he’s busy as hell. Very strong demand for a lot of their products with people shifting to work from home.
  18. I’ll just leave this here so that everybody can remember how it goes down when black teens are involved instead.
  19. I used to laugh at stuff like this. It just makes me depressed now. It’s hard to build a functional society with so many people like this. People that have lived in other developed countries....please tell me that it’s just as bad there.
  20. Nobody is undecided about who they support. Lots of people are undecided about whether or not they will show the fuck up and vote.
  21. Wilco overall is dem. My state rep is Bucy who is a dem and really good at his job. My individual polling location was as close to 50/50 as you could get in 2016. I would bet my rona check that it’s 60-40 Biden or more. Some olds that moved in from Alabama are the only people I know willing to admit they will vote for trump. There are certainty more that will cast their vote in silence but my gut tells me he loses this hood bigly.
  22. For me, a lot of it was just growing up and getting enough real world experience to know that everything that I was sold was a lie. That’s why I can say with conviction that I would never go back. Same for my wife. The other factors include mostly Texas GOP misdeeds. I work in public education. Getting kicked in the dick repeatedly sucks. Who knew? For me the shift didn’t happen because of trump, it was around the end of Perry’s term as governor.
  23. Wilco is 58% white. And remember, half of them are suburban women who are leaving the Republican Party.
