  1. Yes, the written language is a Chinese which is also split into Traditional and Simplified (where some of the most complex kanji letters are...made simpler). The spoken dialects are Mandarin, Cantonese, and literally hundreds of others.
  2. I thought the (English) books were great, and had recommended them to some friends even before it was a TV show.
  3. Great movie, marred by the sheer engineering stupidity of the stick walk robot. Talk about a crap design to take into unknown worlds.
  4. The ctrl alt delete keystroke is there to prevent someone making an app to capture your login that mimics the actual login screen. From a basically security standpoint it should not be disabled.
  5. I posted about it somewhere on here, but RJauto was who I used, and yes some rando remoted my (beater) laptop over the internet. Had to swap the steering wheel buttons in my case, which they shipped to me pretty quick from Europe, wasn't too difficult. This is on a 2021¿ GLS.
  6. I coded those onto our Mercedes. Had a very basic 6zone system on a Mazda that was fun to watch but not great. The Mercedes has 20+ zones and it's amazing. Would like to try one of the zoned laser headlights.
  7. The drivers get better as it heats up and all the goddamn snowbirds go home already!!!!!
  8. This is going to be absolutely terrible and I am going to see it.
  9. Hint: it wasn't the slippers.
  10. I've been guilty of leaving engine idling while filling up a few times but it was because my car was fucked up and wouldn't start again if I shut it off. Needed either a jump and crank a while, or to cool down to clear a vapor lock.
  11. Yes. No one brings their own slippers.
  12. Not sure I agree with that, but it gets philosophical.
  13. The actual performance, the conductor is nearly irrelevant. But sports analogy, he's the coach, and movie analogy he's the director. The entire interpretation of the piece is his vision.
  14. High end dining in Taiwan might be even worse for needing to book wayyyy in advance or have the right friends. There've been quite a few Asia Top50 in Taiwan last couple years, and they're very difficult to get a seat at. I'm with you though, I see no reason to waste a meal at "fine dining" in Taiwan when I'm guaranteed a more satisfying meal at street level.
  15. Do any stocks really have value long term at current valuations??
  16. After having lived with multiple bidets with remote controls, I will never buy remote control bidets again. Hard mounted permanent control buttons never run out of batteries or go missing or get dropped in the toilet by a prankster.
  17. Go watch the front door ceremony at opening of any department store there.
  18. I love Mad Max and thought the movie was amazing, but this is pretty "meh" so far. Will see it anyways.
  19. Both. Fly to Taipei a couple days early before the cruise, then train to Tokyo and stay a few days extra before flying back to US after. I'm biased, but Taipei is a fantastic city and the food is much more diverse in Taiwan.
  20. My cost basis is around $11, so wake me up when we hit 10.
  21. This is on you. I'm fairly tech adept and I also think using a Mac is a frustrating experience.
