  1. The new books...are not great. Read them if you're a huge fan. Don't read them otherwise, don't sully the memory.
  2. Mmmmm grass. Visually just wonderful. The choice to use infrared was masterful, the bubble fireworks were awesome. Lot of simplifications from the book, and I don't disagree with them. The book contains so much complexity and world building that would take hours and hours to convey in a movie, and bore the hell out of any non-bookfags in doing so. I absolutely love that Dune as a story is getting so much more public exposure and is succeeding in entertainment media with these movies. While I dislike many of the changes, I fully support them and am incredibly happy that the movies are so successful with such a large audience. I want as many people to know the Dune story and understand the greatness of the books as possible. That said, this is one of my favorite books, and here's random bookfaggery. Warning, spoilers and bookfaggery, do not click: Please don't take this wrong. I love the books, I like the movies, and I love that the movies are successful and support all the compromises needed to make them successful in mass market.
  3. This. They and you are genuinely lucky one didn't blow out, doubly so that one didn't blow out with someone in close proximity. I'd go back and either go off on them or politely inform them, that was a major safety issue. The manager needs to know this is happening.
  4. United is such a crap experience.
  5. Please cast Angela White.
  6. Put your current book on the bookshelf. Take Dune off the bookshelf. Read.
  7. I have some oil and air filters left over. You plan on keeping it long? (I miss mine, such a fun car.)
  8. Counterpoint, MFG is still starving for people.i still have 20+ openings in my dept, site-wide we probably have 100 openings for engineering, process guys, automation, and assembly. And we lose candidates to other local companies regularly. Everyone is fighting for people.
  9. Science. Battery voltage is affected by ambient temps. Ambient temp drops to its lowest point right at the most inconvenient time of the night.
  10. Yeah but if you sell above you need to pay taxes. Better never to sell high, minimize taxes.
  11. Pss But if you put it on a tortilla, you have chicken fajitas!
  12. Compact spots are lousy parking design. There are effectively zero actually "compact" cars sold any more.
  13. Been totally disappointed in my Airbnb stays to date. I opt for hotels when possible now.
  14. I think that's it, important meaning it influences the development of music to come. I don't think there's any music that is actually important from the perspective development of mankind. Closest music to "important" are classical staples like Beethoven 5th or Vivaldi Four Seasons. Even the Beatles mentioned above only influenced certain cultures, the rest of mankind dgaf.
  15. Cut Four Corners. It's neat for what it is, but there is nothing to see and it is in bumfuck and you are going to waste half a day driving and the hours it is open suck.
  16. Pro Tip: the occasion always calls for flowers.
  17. You should have thrown it in the nearest trash. That would have taught her a lesson. Right. Right?
  18. Chancleta will solve this issue quickly.
  19. Costco pork in particular always cooks weird and unsatisfying. Sam's wins there. Sam's has beef dino ribs in cryopack that they crosscut on site into galbi slices, Costco galbi is precut and vac packed. Costco beef is a tad cheaper and usually has more out on display for choosing the perfect steak. Sam's definitely has a lot more individual packed snack and food items for the bodega resale guys. Cheese cracker sandwiches, single flavor Quaker pouches instead of the 3flavor assortment pack, many more varieties of chips, pretzel mix, etc. Sam's has a lot more in the "ready to eat" and "heat to eat" items.
