  1. So, 2 donors. One is giving the most and the other person is contributing a smaller amount. Is there protocol/etiquette on what order the foundation is named? In other words Smith is giving 750,000 and Jones is giving 250,000. Is this the Smith/Jones Foundation or the Jones/Smith foundation? Or, my argument is it doesn't fucking matter.
  2. Just for fun and tournaments. I haven’t spent much time up there but I know a lot of people who really like it. Down here my marina is building condos and I recently bought one. When it is finished the plan is about 8-9 months a year here. The last few years I’ve averaged about 6 months here so not much difference. I just love this country (and the fishing).
  3. Marina Pez Vela on the Pacific side. The town is called Quepos, but most people refer to this area as Manuel Antonio.
  4. Anytime. Just get yourself to Costa Rica. We did a Shaggy fishing trip when I had a boat in Port Aransas. Need to do another one down here.
  5. True but just filling the cockpit isn’t going to cause a boat like that to sink. Heck we’ve done it numerous times and just did again last week. A boat capsizing like that is almost always a series of failures and that boat sure went down quick. From the moment the video started they already knew they were sinking - you see the life raft tossed down. I’m sure there is more to that story and the boat was taking on water from somewhere in the hull. last week - IMG_1688.mov
  6. Yes skipjack is a type of tuna. Great bait for marlin. As to the fish in question I’ve always called them skipjacks too. Great fighters.
  7. They got it wrong, we actually released 39. Sail fishing is really good for this time of year but unfortunately the blue marlin haven’t showed up yet and this is normally peak season for them. May take the boat up to Flamingo on Friday and give it a shot up there. IMG_6826.mov
  8. I mean it’s Port A so you never discount alcohol, but yeah. Really sad deal. All I know about is what I posted above. They people involved weren’t Port A locals they were from the surrounding area and not in the fishing circles I know.
  9. They were dead in the water after a power loss so there was nothing they could do. Would be terrifying. This is why you always stay off to the side of the channel running in and out.
  10. So, we put a few yellowfin tuna in the box today 😂 Also jumped a marlin off, raised another and went 4/5 on sailfish all before lunch. Then started having an electrical issue on the port motor so called it a day. God I love Costa Rica. IMG_6822.mov
  11. Bad accident in Port A this morning. I’m currently about 35 miles offshore fishing in Costa Rica so don’t really have any other details. Boat is believed to be called Todo Bien, maybe a 54 Hatteras Sportfish. https://www.portasouthjetty.com/articles/one-dead-one-missing-ship-channel-closed/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3xP04X65Tirqf-dzc5KVmJ16oJqGxGryJbcYVNmUJxPvgr9a-jyScM0xI_aem_lD7jH6PeBL77EygwKUhCfw
  12. Shrimp season opens July 15th. After that go buy it straight off the boat Peggy Ann. It’s docked in the city marina right near the pavilion.
  13. I know it’s not allowed to wish death for a poster, but is it ok to hope that right now @GreenspointTexashas trees on his roof, no power, car half underwater, and no middle of the night sex?
  14. We just drove the beach. It’s not as crowded as yesterday for sure so some of them left. Judging by what we saw I’d put a fair amount of money on a lot of the remaining people having no idea that a storm is even coming. They aren’t going to be real happy when they wake up tomorrow and none of the restaurants are open.
  15. Last update shifted it a few miles west and away from Houston. I doubt they will have an exact landfall track before tomorrow morning.
  16. And Nueces. Just encouraging visitors, people in flood prone areas, boats/rv’s etc. to leave early. Unless something changes this is not going to be a big deal here. Very small category 1, possibly 2.
  17. Life in Paradise. To be clear I’m got no problem with them. They seem to be the only decent management company down here anymore.
  18. Last few updates the track has stayed pretty constant for the center to go in between Rockport and Port O’Connor. That’s good news here because Port A is jam packed with tourists and none of them seem to be leaving. We have a rental in our condo leaving tomorrow and another rental coming in tomorrow for a week. Just talked to the management company and the people are still planning on coming tomorrow. Fucking idiots.
  19. Yes, there are some very large sharks at Texas beaches. But I mean, there is a fucking video of this shark on this thread . It’s a 6 foot long bull shark. Good grief.
  20. You can’t possibly be this stupid.
  21. Damn going to miss you again. Was supposed to fly to CR today for the rest of the summer but this storm coming made me push it back to the 11th. Catch you and Luna this fall.
  22. Yeah had a flight to Costa Rica this afternoon. Went to bed last night still planning on going but just had to change it to late next week since current track has Beryl coming basically straight through Port A. Fuck this storm (and fuck Harvey forever).
  23. Yup no real damage from the storm and it is already crowded as fuck. July will be even worse but thankfully I leave town for the summer July 1st. Sip Yard finally opens tomorrow. Should be a great new addition bringing much needed additional food options (and yet another bar). https://www.sipyardporta.com not much info there but I do know that there is space for 5 or more “restaurants” (food court style), 2 bars, and a stage for live music. It’s a 3 level place and the upper deck has a really good 360 view of the water/beach/town. As far as the food i believe 4 spaces are leased out already - pizza and wings, taco joint, Asian-fusion, and I think Coffee Waves is doing something. I’ve already had the pizza and wings and also a taco and both were really good.
