  1. So no further explanation or commentary from the broadcast booth? We’re just moving on? What is the rule in that situation?
  2. I think you’re mixing up Ovie with Overshown. Overshown wears lots of armbands. He also records lots of tackles and we do indeed have to play him.
  3. That's a great but long listen. Key takeaway, loosely quoted: "Running out of stinger missles is like a bar running out of Bud Light. It's probably an inconvenience for someone, but there are plenty of alternatives and almost all of them are better."
  4. This keeps getting repeated but it is inaccurate. Security assurances can mean a lot of things. In the Budapest Memorandum the security assurance basically meant "we will respect your sovereignty and will not attack you". That's a lot different than "we will defend you". If you want a longer explanation of our "assurances" click here
  5. First thought on the “twist” is when the Chinese government references “territorial integrity” they’re reiterating they believe Taiwan is and should be part of China.
  6. Earlier this year they wrote an article that questioned the authenticity of the story of the 12th man: https://www.thebatt.com/life-arts/12th-man-rewritten/article_8b1b8a32-5928-11ec-bf3c-8b8c15dc9b22.html
  7. Any word on how this is being portrayed by the Russian media?

    Russia

Supposedly Clinton and Putin actually discussed this, though I doubt either side was truly sincere or that Putin had noble intentions when he raised the subject.
  9. Curious about that as well. The discussion between two of the refs continued on through the TV timeout.
  10. You're correct - my bad.
  11. It was close, but he definitely crossed the line of scrimmage before getting pushed back.
  12. Does it not matter that he previously ran across the line of scrimmage? I thought once you went past the LOS you couldn't have a "forward pass".
  13. I wasn't saying it doesn't matter how he reacted to the loss; I was saying people shouldn't rush to judgement based upon the press conference (especially since he acknowledged mistakes and didn't come across as defensive a la Mack). What matters is how he addresses the team and the mistakes behind closed doors.
  14. Exactly. And for all the comparisons to Saban, I'd be curious to see his press conference responses and demeanor when Alabama lost to Louisiana Monroe at home in his first year at Alabama. It's a lot easier (and more effective) to rip your players after winning by a large margin against a patsy; a different response is required when your players just got publicly humiliated (and they know it).
  15. I agree - most criminals might be stupid but this one doesn't add up. The fact that a police officer was killed and that it occurred on one of Fertitta's properties leads me to believe the culprits will definitely be caught, but I wouldn't be surprised if their punishment gets administered outside a court of law.
  16. That article is from 1974; a lot has changed since then. TCU opposed Tech joining the SWC in 1958 because they considered everything west of DFW their territory. And with no Dallas Cowboys until 1960, I think he's generally right that it was common for people in west Texas with no real ties to any colleges to be TCU fans.
  17. This. Say what you want about Sark's ability to close but after years of UT coaches (and months for the current staff) having to counter the SEC pitch, the move only affirms what the SEC coaches have been selling to our recruits. Until the timeline moves up from 2025, the announcement might actually make recruiting harder.
  18. In for $10. PayPal worked, CC didn't. Weird how one works for some but not others. Where it's coming from doesn't matter though - it's where it's going. Great work!
  19. I don't see it that way. The $9.95ers are merely a vehicle in the transaction. Someone already suggested it, but we (Surly) should be doing the same. Perhaps you meant bootlegging?
  20. Yes, Arkansas correctly saw that the SWC wasn't viable because of its small TV footprint and the strong presence of the NFL in Texas. UT saw it too, and UT officials even told Arkansas officials they needed to go first to provide cover for UT to make a move since politically UT couldn't be the school to blow up the conference. The SEC's courtship of UT has been going on for over 30 years.
  21. All anyone claiming Texas killed the SWC needs to know is Arkansas wanted Texas to join them in the move to the SEC in 1990, and so did the SEC. Anyone claiming Arkansas was trying to get away from evil UT doesn't know what they're talking about.
  22. Probably because they aggy'd up their initial meeting announcement/agenda by putting the wrong date on it. Agendas need to be posted 72 hours in advance, so this could just be the same meeting they intended to hold tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if there's an announcement that the meeting tomorrow has been "postponed".
  23. Yup - aggy was simply bait and the SEC just landed the whale it has been chasing since 1990.
  24. I thought is was one of those Fox Photo drive thru booths? Eh, I'm probably just mixing up Mike Adams with the Libyans in Back to the Future. No Satya.
