  1. And before anyone else gets their panties in a wad over this (or gets tricked by a far-right leaning, billionaire-funded smear machine again), if you read the bill you’ll see it only applies to the following people/entities: Sec. 255.0015. REQUIRED DISCLOSURE ON CERTAIN POLITICAL ADVERTISING CONTAINING ALTERED MEDIA; CRIMINAL PENALTY. (a) This section applies only to a person who: (1) is an officeholder, candidate, or political committee; (2) makes expenditures during a reporting period that in the aggregate exceed $100 for political advertising, other than an expense to cover the basic cost of hardware, messaging software, and bandwidth; or (3) publishes, distributes, or broadcasts political advertising described by Subsection (b) in return for consideration. So if you want to make funny memes fire away. You’re safe so long as you aren’t a politician, PAC, or getting paid to do so. Sincerely, Dade’s mom
  2. Speaking of dirty money, if you’re going to link articles published by Texas Scorecard, you should know Tim Dunn was the primary financial backer of Empower Texas; Texas Scorecard is an online publication that was launched by Empower Texas; Tim Dunn is on the board of Texas Scorecard; Tim Dunn is a contributing author for Texas Scorecard. Tim Dunn is the one who wants to kill this bill because it would criminalize misleading campaign materials like the ones aimed at Dade Phelan when Patrick, Paxton, and their cronies were trying to get him primaried. The dirty money guys you mentioned above are the ones who funded the article you linked, and are the ones fighting against this bill.
  3. You should realize you have this completely backwards. While Phelan is a Republican, he is the former Speaker of the House who Patrick and Paxton tried to get primaried. Phelan led the effort to impeach Ken Paxton, something he actually got the majority of Republicans in the house to support. Read the bill. This is related to the mountains of misleading campaign materials aimed at Phelan in the primary; much of which was funded by the $3 million Defend Texas Liberty PAC (largely funded by Tim Dunn) gave Dan Patrick ahead of the impeachment trial in the senate.
  4. We’re shitting the bed but what’s going on with these refs is absurd.
  5. That was only 8 seconds, btw.
  6. Good point. And on related note it’s amazing to watch the once absurd plot of “Canadian Bacon” taking shape before us in real life.
  7. If only this guy was still alive.
  8. They were both out-messaged and out-lied. In swing states Republicans hammered home the message that Kamala Harris supports taxpayer funded transgender surgery for prisoners and detained migrants. She also supported cutting funding for ICE. These are really easy points to communicate and like it or not these ideas are very unpopular with most Americans. Too many people in this thread are unable to come to terms with the fact that this should have been a landslide victory for democrats, but they shot themselves in the foot by continuing to vocally support unpopular fringe causes. I had a political science professor who always hammered home the idea that if you want to win an election you have to win over "Johnny Six-Pack". Johnny Six-Pack isn't going to research the Republicans lies, but he absolutely knows he doesn't want his taxes going towards transgender surgery for prisoners. https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/09/politics/kfile-harris-pledged-support-in-2019-to-cut-ice-funding-and-provide-transgender-surgery-to-detained-migrants/index.html
  9. Well you’re in luck because sadly that’s what our state leaders seem to want too.
  10. So what you're saying is they're "ChINOs"?
  11. Good to know. Everyone around me in the stadium just assumed they didn't want to throw a third flag for PI. I heard Dusty Dvoracek mention in postgame that the ball was tipped, but didn't believe him because fuck that guy.
  12. You clearly don’t know much about football if you can’t understand why success rate is far more important than win/loss record when ranking teams.
  13. Oh come on. There's lots of football yet to be played and there are no weekends off in the mighty S-E-C!!!* *Am I doing this right???
  14. Hey man, my eyes are nearly fifty years old, I was sitting in the stratosphere in section 105, and was 4 margs and 5 beers deep at the time. Can we all just agree I pretty much have a photographic memory?
  15. We actually threw a deep ball early in the first quarter (2nd drive?) that resulted in a DPI call. Our receiver (maybe Bond?) was covered but it got us 15 yards, sadly making it one of our most successful plays of the game. Would have been good to throw deep more to at least try to keep their D honest instead of just letting them jump the shorts routes and hammer our guys on screens. For the record, it was under thrown and we got the PI call as our receiver slowed and came back for the ball.
  16. Right, but in that instance didn’t he rob his own bank, and the teller recognized him since he’d been there several times before?
  17. I made it to the fairgrounds but couldn’t find the stadium. While waiting in line for a corn dog an aggy overheard me asking for directions. All the self-centered, uppity Longhorn fans ignored my plea, but fortunately this kind, service-minded aggy offered to help. Not only did he give me directions but he went above and beyond by actually walking me there. As the game went on I thought about his kindness, the spirit of aggyland, and couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like if aggy was taking the field yesterday. In hindsight I’m glad they didn’t, because if they did I honestly think I might have found myself rooting for them.
  18. Just reading this question gave me PTSD to the time the entire UT sideline was screaming at David Ash to lay down, only to have him stare back at them for about 20 seconds in a state of concussed confusion until Mack finally had to call a timeout. As socceresque as it appeared, Ewers absolutely did the right thing.
  19. Correct. Both academically and now in baseball, aggy is our "farm system".
  20. The clear loser in tonight’s debate is the American public.
  21. They’ve done this multiple times now. WTF?!?
  22. So no further explanation or commentary from the broadcast booth? We’re just moving on? What is the rule in that situation?
  23. I think you’re mixing up Ovie with Overshown. Overshown wears lots of armbands. He also records lots of tackles and we do indeed have to play him.
  24. That's a great but long listen. Key takeaway, loosely quoted: "Running out of stinger missles is like a bar running out of Bud Light. It's probably an inconvenience for someone, but there are plenty of alternatives and almost all of them are better."
  25. This keeps getting repeated but it is inaccurate. Security assurances can mean a lot of things. In the Budapest Memorandum the security assurance basically meant "we will respect your sovereignty and will not attack you". That's a lot different than "we will defend you". If you want a longer explanation of our "assurances" click here
