  1. Recently read Killers of Flower Moon by David Grann. Tells the story of the Reign of Terror on Osage lands during the 1920's gold rush in that area of Oklahoma. holy hell, unbelievable events.
  2. going to Cali for 4 quick days in May. Unfortunately, we are going with another couple and I let them influence our plans. so, like dumbasses, we are spending 2 nights in Healdsburg and then driving our ass over to Plymouth Valley area (Amador County/El Dorado). Now I'm excited to try some wines over there, but damn spending half a day driving is a beating. anyway, got reservations at Limerick Lane and Ceritas for first part of journey. Both will be new visits to me although I'm familiar a little bit with their wines. Really pumped about Ceritas, although my budget is somewhat limited so I won't be able to go crazy there. Also going to go by Idlewild cause they make some interesting wines. Have one afternoon still open so waiting to hear back on a couple of places I've called. Anthill Farms already shot me down, so we'll see what happens. As to the second part of the journey in El Dorado, Skinner for sure and probably Turley, too. Likely hit a few no-name places just to see what kind of juice they are producing on the estates out there.
  3. agree with you but GP has some truth, too. The growth to craft beer has to come from the Bud Light crowd. I'm not a beer hound, although I pretty much only drink Houston brewed beers, some I love and some I just drink to try them and support local efforts. But to your comment that Texas lacks Quality breweries, what do you think we are lacking (types of beers, I guess I'm asking).
  4. The LA attorney was definitely all in. Dude was still crying about all that decades later. pretty amazing to me. I was stunned with how many of the Rajneeshpuram residents out in Oregon didn't seem to be American. Seemed like 2 out of every 3 persons they interviewed had a German or Australian accent.
  5. I think Kinsmann deserves more than 10% of the blame.
  6. hope you are back establishing yourself in that thread by now
  7. I believe so, or some close family member. Kid is good.
  8. RIP to my 20 year handle. some kinda screwup in registration has made me bularry1. sad panda
  9. Uptown area, I really liked Bar Frances and Ancora Pizzeria (Freret st). last year in Midcity we went to Revel on N. Carrollton. I mentioned it on the Shaggy NO thread. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to drink and get some good grub, this place is on point.
  10. Excellent, I haven't been out there in about 7 years, so wanted to check. might try me some goat on this trip
  11. not a small gem, but is Cooper's in Llano still any good? Driving with my son from Houston to Snyder on Friday and was thinking of going there for lunch.
  12. I gotta get to 8th Wonder one of these Saturday's soon.
  13. Used to hammer those bad boys when I worked downtown Houston and there was one in that food court area by the big mall/retail space.
  14. I found the series fascinating. What I really found incredible was the demeanor of the various US attorneys and investigators who acted like they had solved the Kennedy assassination by getting Sheela to confess to a crime the compound reported, and by getting Bhagwhan to leave the country. Wow, way to go guys. Only took 4 years of intensive harrassment, i mean investigation, to win this huge victory for the American people. clearly the leadership of the group had gotten quite the God complex. very interesting
  15. soccer newb, who is Rebecca Lowe? I'm too lazy to google myself.
