  1. It sure doesn't seem to be consistent with the recent SCOTUS ruling in the Colorado ballot case.
  2. Before anyone gets any ideas, I'm gonna file a bar complaint against the next lawyer I see say something like "the only acceptable remedy is at the ballot box."
  3. That's not what it says though. It says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..." I don't really disagree with your interpretation of the language using today's grammatical rules, but language then just didn't work the same way it does now. Grammar in colonial America was a mess. And it's very clear from the actual history of firearm regulation in America that nobody interpreted the 2nd Amendment that way.
  4. They knew that, but it wasn't the point. Direct election of the President of the United States simply wasn't logistically possible in 1787, they had to come up with something else. And they couldn't. They got to near the end of the convention and hadn't figured it out, so they left how to pick the President to a select committee. Because it was hot and everyone wanted to go home, that committee settled on "what if we did a separate Congress that wasn't Congress and only met to pick the President?" The electoral college isn't really part of the intended design of the federal government at all. It's not fundamental to the separation of powers, nor was it designed with the intent to limit the actual democratic input into the selection of the President. It was a last-minute kludge that everyone settled on because nobody could come up with a better idea that garnered enough support.
  5. Yeah, it’s obviously this. He’s just a very stupid and angry dude.
  6. "Fellas, it's gay to like milkshakes right?"
  7. How much is RT paying you, comrade?
  8. I’d dunk on him but I’m pretty sure I’ll be like this about AOC long before I’m 70.
  9. Pim Tool and Dave Rubin are Russian agents?
  10. Regarding suicide, it's not just the availability of a gun, but the likelihood that a suicide attempt with a gun results in death vs the alternatives. People are much much much much more likely to survive other kinds of suicide attempts than they are an attempt with a gun.
  11. Most Republicans wouldn't even change if it were their own kids that were killed by a school shooter. It's modern day child sacrifice that they see as necessary to maintain their way of life.
  12. Nonzero chance he has multiple children tied up in his basement.
  13. I member when Aurora police teargassed and viciously beat peaceful protestors who were just playing violins in protest of Aurora PD's murder of Elijah McClain. That was a thing that actually happened in Aurora, Colorado that someone who actually cared about the people there could (and should) be upset about. But maybe they're not actually concerned about the wellbeing of Aurora residents.
  14. From Dave Karpf’s review thread on bluesky:
  15. Don't forget the funniest: - used chatGPT to write his book
  16. Oh look, a thread is titled “social media morons” and pronghorn comes sprinting in like he’s Usain Bolt.
  17. Yordan’s next homer at home will come in 2025.
  18. Presumably while drinking alone on a Thursday evening.
  19. That has been the case for literally every single second the United States of America has existed. Republican policies exacerbate the problems that contribute to those feelings, Democratic policies (usually) ameliorate them.
  20. Real stupid pair of posts right here.
  21. Ana, I'll make the mistake of asking you a serious question. How do you think "Bidenomics" compares to the economic policies of every Republican president of the past 40 years?
  22. I could’ve looked that bad at the plate.
  23. “How could Nixon have won?! I don’t know anyone who voted for him!”
  24. We get it man, you want to fuck your car. But that’s the type of thing you really should keep to yourself.
