  1. Gerry Dre Quinn ... A new team is attempting to get in the race. Ohio State is making a push to get the recent 4-star+ Clemson de-commit out of Buford High on campus this weekend for the game vs. Minnesota. As it stands now, confidence remains on the Texas side. Tennessee believes they are right there with Texas in the fight. The 6-foot-4, 228-pounder is not currently expected to take his decision to December, or even November. Jalen Lott ... The recruitment of 4-star++ Oregon wide receiver verbal continues to see positive returns for the Longhorns. Lott has been in communication with members of the Texas staff daily since the visit two weekends ago. OnTexasFootball currently gives the Longhorns a 60% shot to eventually flip the Frisco (Texas) Panther Creek playmaker.
  2. I think Tech is going to be horrible again this year, but a lot of these new arms for us are looking great.
  3. From Florida On3 mod. Hopefully, the staff is spending the weekend updating their resumes Wanted to pass along. Usually coaches are out during the BYE week to visit with commits and targets in different classes. Usually the staff doesn't go out each day during the week due to off week practices, and they are also given some time to enjoy time with family on the BYE week. This week I was told that Florida didn't have any coaches out on the recruiting trail in previous days, and aren't expected to be out tonight or on Sat/Sun.
  4. We have Max Wright committed too at OT. And I was referencing more in regard to explosive skill players. WRs and RBs. For all the good Choice did here, he didn't exactly leave a stacked RB room with a bunch of diverse skill sets and guys who can turn 5-yard runs into 15-yard runs (although injuries played a role). That room will need a makeover in the offseason and Derek Cooper is a guy who can jump to the front of the line. I also didn't really understand Sark saying publicly a while back that they wanted to get more length and bigger bodies at receiver after he just coached Worthy/Bond/Golden and watched guys like Jaydon Blue and Keilan Robinson with the ball in their hands. Hopefully, we can course correct on that and guys like Bishop/Lott would be a good start.
  5. It's probably still this way with or without Quinn, but the 2026 class seems to be the best we've brought in defensively in a long, long time. If we can add Lott, hold onto Cooper, and Jermaine Bishop ends up on offense, I think we will end up with a great balance between defense and offense, and get some of the offensive juice back that we didn't quite get in the 2024 and 2025 classes. The 2024 class, in particular, appears to have a lot of whiffs or underperformers offensively at the skill spots at the top of the class outside of Wingo (Gibson, Butler, Owens and Clark all ranked around or in the top 300 for On3 that year).
  6. IT just put out an article saying Kohen Brown confirmed with them that he is going to play safety at Texas. Guess that locks in Jermaine Bishop for offense and we will keep pushing for Jalen Lott.
  7. Just listened and he hit the trifecta: 1. Why didn’t Arch participate in Elite 11? 2. Arch never played top competition in high school 3 “If his last name was anything but Manning, he would have already been benched for KJ Lacey” Groundbreaking stuff
  8. He said a while back he learned it from an NFL scout. I do think it's beneficial that he has used this for 10+ years, so you can compare players and performances. Here are the current season grades vs last year:
  9. Spoiled below is Alex Dunlap's full OL write-up for SHSU. For those who don't want to go through his entire write-up, here are the grades for the season so far, along with the grading scale he uses.
  10. A few team notes from IT
  11. I don't think there is too much offensively that OU could have hidden, considering the Michigan and Auburn defenses are good. The Mateer hero ball stuff has all been revealed. Now, defensively, I'm sure Venables will have something up his sleeve. He is basically a defensive coordinator who does press conferences a couple of times a week at this point. They have outsourced all his other responsibilities.
  12. Late to the party here, but Sam Houston State would be favored against Kent State. Kent State is in a close race with UMass to be the worst FBS team in the country. OU will be prepping Texas for the next 3 weeks.
  13. FCB Texas running backs Quintrevion Wisner and CJ Baxter, who have both missed games with hamstring injuries, are on target to return for the Longhorns' SEC opener at Florida on Oct. 4 at 2:30 pm CT, sources close to the situation told Horns247 on Monday.
  14. For those who need a reference on how their scale works:
  15. Gerry said on Coffee&Football this morning that Oregon basically paid out the ass to get his commitment and he is going to have to be willing to accept less from Texas, if he flips.
  16. On campus today per Gerry https://www.on3.com/rivals/keith-dotie-249268/
  17. There was a segment on Arch and the rest of the high profile QB’s struggling in the first 30 minutes of College Gameday.
  18. A few team notes from IT
  19. Some notes someone posted on IT from the Texas One Fund event last night with Schloss and the rest of the staff: -First day of practice was yesterday - too early to tell how the freshmen will do -Pitching staff should be one of the best in baseball with our returners -ARod back pounding the ball from both sides of the plate (also was mentioned later on down the thread that he is getting a real look at SS) -Mendoza has put on weight and has more pop this year -Schuessler is joining the staff as a GA/assistant -More offensive bunts this year because of increased team speed - but the coaches are having to teach bunting, as most of our recruits were their team’s offensive star in high school and never had to bunt -Wins last year more due to team chemistry than talent - team came to play every game. Need to develop that same mindset with this year’s team -Must maintain mechanics no matter what the count for both hitters and pitchers. Coaches recruited more contact hitters, to cut down strikeouts. Pitchers cannot try and throw a “strike 3” pitch - will ruin their mechanics- must concentrate on throwing the pitch called and getting that to the right location. -Different recruiting mindset than what we had with Pierce. Coaches pick the kids up on Thursday night, eat with them (a lot of Matt’s dinners), kids come to team meetings and practice, with the coaches interacting with them throughout. -Coach Schloss reiterated what he tells recruits - if you are scared of the competition at UT, this is not the place for you. This is big boy baseball, and you need to embrace the challenge. -Looks like another great class for next year. -You can have more talent, play a perfect game, and still lose - that is part of the magic of baseball, and why the pros play 162. -Every day they come to DFF and see the sign saying our last national championship was in 2005. Their goal is to add a new sign. Said 2026 would be a nice addition… -New batter’s eye coming, with a new party zone in right field, similar to the Yeti Yard. -Getting taller foul poles to the correct height. -New turf next year, and they will take the “crown” out of the field - making it flatter. Schloss still wants the same “look,” with maybe a larger Bevo logo.
  20. FCB injury update: Wisner- Out Baxter- Out January- Out, but probably could play if it was a conference game Moore- Been practicing, should play Mosley- Could see some snaps Saturday Hutson- Turf toe, wants to play but coaches may hold him out to give Robertson a look
