  1. Perhaps, although Brandon Baker doesn't really strike me as a guard. Didn't really think much about it at the time when he opted to head to Oregon, but we could have really used Emmanuel Pregnon. Would have me feeling a lot better about the interior of the OL. He's only been here a year, but I wouldn't say we've heard super glowing reports about Baker to get us excited about the prospect of him starting at tackle as a redshirt freshman.
  2. This is going to be an interesting month for the OL. I think we know who the top 7-8 guys are but fitting on the puzzle pieces together will be the #1 storyline of camp for me. There seems to be guys in 3 groups: Proven with experience (Campbell, Hutson, Goosby), old but very little game experience (Neto, Robertson) and young with basically no game experience (Baker, Kibble, Brooks) It's kind of weird in this era to see guys like Neto in their 4th year in the program, but we have basically no idea what we are going to get.

  4. What is inaccurate about either of those statements? Both obviously had strong desires to sign and take the professional payday now instead of the NIL payday and being no leverage seniors. Neither was taken in the top 10 rounds where the higher paydays are so they weren’t prioritized. Freeman was a 16th round pick accepting a signing bonus that doesn’t even force his team to dip into their bonus pool allotment.
  5. That would need to pretty much be the only reason, because from what I understand, he was going to be well taken care of from a NIL standpoint. Oh well, I think we will end up okay. There are some interesting JUCO/portal options still out there I know we are kicking the tires on.
  6. Not a good decision. I heard Moroknek is signing for more than this.
  7. It’s July 15th and our biggest recruiting needs appear to be RB and filling in spots at positions where studs are already committed (OL, LB, EDGE, DB). Pretty damn good position to be in for a staff that historically does some of their best work late in the cycle.
  8. The guy with the mom who got mad that Schloss yelled at her son is back at A&M (somehow, I’m assuming it’s the juco ruling thing)
  9. He will be part of the equation, but he has to come back to baseball healthy, and there is going to be a ramp-up period. He probably isn't just going to walk across I-35 in late January after not doing baseball for 4-5 months and be ready to start a few weeks later in the opener at San Diego. There are just a lot of moving parts with him that it probably is safer to make him a luxury more than a necessity in terms of roster building/projection.
  10. His Tuesday morning update: Tuesday morning update Let me paint the picture for you: Tyler Atkinson's dad has said Tyler is likely to make a decision around 11:15 a.m. ET on the Pat McAfee Show. There's no telling that will happen exactly at that time with TV time windows and the typical delays to commitment decision moments. But in the event it happens at that time, Atkinson will be announcing a decision at the same time Kirby Smart is doing an SEC Radio appearance and at the time all the Georgia football players will be in the main media room at SEC Media Days. Whether it's Georgia or Texas, diabolical move by whoever planned the timing of the decision — on the same day both teams are at Media Days. Much like the Monday night update, there's a lot of surprise and uncertainty in Athens. The predictions that started to trickle in surprised the folks at Georgia as much as anyone. I've still been getting feedback on the verge of disbelief that it could be playing out this way. But it does look as though it's going the wrong way here. There will be a lot of discourse about this today, so let's try to act like we've been there before. Yes, I'm told the Texas offer is notably higher than Georgia's, but that was the case when Georgia still had confidence it would land Atkinson.
  11. I don't think many teams are walking around with great depth at catcher. I do like the JUCO kid we got there and the freshman from Louisiana is going to require some seasoning but is supposed to be pretty polished.
  12. Freeman and Moroknek are signing. Jayden Duplantier is not starting next year. They are already pushing for a new OF from the portal. It will all work out.
  13. It isn't under $100k based on what I heard, but it's not enough for me to believe he is making a smart decision. After taxes and agent fees, they are taking home a check that is significantly less than the number that is dangled in front of them the entire time.
  14. If we assume everyone who was drafted signs: C (3)- Tinney, Ermis, Courville INF (6)- Livingston, Duplantier, Becerra, Mendoza, Borba, Rodriguez OF (6)- Robbins, Williams, Hill, Pack, Petersen, Monsour RHP (15)- Riojas, Burns, Hamilton, Howard, Flores, McCreery, Grubbs, Crossland, Paris, Furgason, Winter, Westphal, Rogers, Walls, Rummel LHP (7)- Volantis, Harrison, McKernan, Higgins, Walker, Bing, Leffew That is 37 right there and I'm assuming a few will be considered grandfathered in under the old 40 man roster rules, so I think we have some wiggle room to add some more guys whether it be JUCO/Portal/HS
  15. If the bonus number I heard on Freeman is right, he must really not want to do one more year of school. It isn’t high at all.
  16. The options in the OF are pretty limited and we are hurting a bit on the position player side now. We are going to need someone like Anthony Pack to play as a freshman. C- Tinney 1B- Livingston 2B- Mendoza SS- Becerra 3B- Borba LF- Rodriguez CF- Pack RF- Robbins DH- Who the hell knows.
  17. Moroknek and Dotson are gone, based on what I heard.
  18. Damnit, Luke Dotson picked too. He was my favorite of the 3 portal arms we picked up.
  19. Moroknek was just taken in the 11th round. Probably not great news.
  20. We are likely going to have to cut a few HS kids loose in the next few weeks. I don't see the numbers adding up with what we have returning + portal guys + what is currently 16 HS signees.
  21. The portal is closed, closed. I don't even think grad transfers can enter. I think Galvan is signing regardless. He still make up to $150k after round 10 without a team having to dip into their bonus pool. There are a few HS guys I think could sign for the $150k. Not anyone super notable, but I've heard rumblings of a few of the lower-ranked guys potentially wanting to just get started with their pro career.
  22. I think age is hurting Galvan. Already 22 years old at a position where the lifespan is shorter than others. He also has massive swing and miss concerns. His swing will likely need to be reworked quite a bit.
  23. Ojo dropped to #40 overall. I believe he was top 10 previously.
  24. The new Rivals/On3 rankings update was not very kind to Texas. Dia Bell- #2 Richard Wesley- #24 John Turntine- #63 Smoke Matthews- #150 (big drop) Kosi Okpala- #193 Chris Stewart- #240 Jermaine Bishop Jr.- #275 (big drop) None of our 3 DTs are in the top 300 despite the fact that they are all ranked in the top 170 for 247sports.
