  1. Same here, as long as I’ve got 30 minutes to spare and time to clean the sticky off my shoes when I leave fr, Braum’s is delicious but struggle with cleanliness and timeliness *return to transfer portal talk*
  2. No joke, you can buy them from Neiman Marcus. Come in a big Pringles-type can. They call them chocolate covered “corn twists”. Have to fight myself not to eat the whole can.
  3. Anybody wanna help a middle aged dude understand “mash the impala”, I need to make sure I don’t say it correctly when embarrassing my kid
  4. Tale as old as time…thanks for the reply 🤘
  5. Anybody who gets to eat there more frequently than I do tell me what happened to Pecan Lodge? I haven’t eaten there in a couple years but when I was going through Dallas I always tried to hit up some brisket. Now it dropped out of Top 50 and seems to draw a less than enthusiastic response here.
  6. We grew up paycheck to paycheck lower middle class, so any trip out to eat with 4 kids was going to be Pancho’s, CiCi’s, or this place called Bluebonnet Cafeteria or something like that? No doubt a precursor to Golden Corral…I don’t remember exactly where it was, but it was in Garland in the early 90s…for his 9th birthday, my brother asked if he could be dropped off there at lunch and picked up after dinner. Parents heavily considered it but decided he might get kicked out, Homer Simpson-style.
  7. My favorite part of this is that it’s essentially a giant subtweet to his podcast co-host Kevin Dunn. Who is generally insufferable and thinks he’s a football genius because he can recite the OL starters on the ‘86 Longhorns. He’s been on the “this team is not talented” train since OU and won’t listen to Scip. Anyway, Scip is arrogant but he is spot on here.
  8. HIT THE WIDE OPEN KID FOR A TD We have an OC that can literally draw up “The touchdown play” and can’t find a QB in the state of Texas (plus Oklahoma) to hit it.
  9. From deep in the bowels of hell aka Oklahoma… FIGHT!!
  10. That chicken wrap with the avacado lime dressing is not too shabby, either. They still rationing sauces? Before the great sauce shortage of ‘21, I used to purposely ask for extra to use on my own stuff at home. I know you can buy bottles but it’s not the same bro
  11. Guy Fieri visited that place in Georgetown with the guy Matthew M. and the chef made King Ranch Casserole. Solid episode, but then again Diners DriveIns and Dives is solidly watchable
  12. My assumption is that this is 100% not related to the NCAA or their rules, or any state’s rules—but that as an international student, he isn’t authorized to work in the US. His beef is with federal immigration policy, not NCAA.
  13. Noooooooooooooooo I won’t quibble, as Isabel’s has its merits. But I preferred Manuel’s. That is super sad to hear. The guys who ran it were always super nice and friendly. Disappointed for them.
  14. Is Ben Wheeler close enough to Tyler to fit in this thread? Los Pinos is a nice little spot. For the three weeks a year it’s comfortable to eat outside in Texas, you get a nice view of the little lake it sits on. Food was strong to very strong—definitely not the 7-page menu some folks are used to for Tex-mex. Anyway, would definitely recommend if for some crazy reason you are near Ben Wheeler, America.
  15. I put the dad tax on my daughter’s stash of these all the time. You tried the green apple kind yet? Pretty good too.
  16. Got a three pack of Yellowbird and have really enjoyed the Serrano most of all. Nice kick. The Blue Agave and Habanero are both a bit sweet on the aftertaste. I’d expect that for the agave. Anyway, still good, just limits its uses. I’d like to try the Ghost Pepper after seeing its approval here.
  17. This is amazing. Mary Shelley would be proud.
