  1. I just need someone else to weigh in…Scipio Tex could, um, benefit from a different cohost. The Boone guy clearly knows baseball since he played at such a high level. I try not to be overly critical about free content, but he’s just not great.
  2. S&P for the sandwich tomatoes is mandatory at the Moss household. And on the rare occasion that I include a salad in my home diet, seasoning each element is crucial, too. (Except the lettuce) Really makes a salad tolerable.
  3. Taco Mayo was serving seasoned potato rounds with tacos (and the taco burger) while Del Taco was still a gleam in its daddy’s eye. Or, we might say: Taco Mayo a) slams b) goes hard c) all of the above
  4. If the Cuban isn’t at least a 2 seed, I will either be 1) rioting or B) writing my congressman. And whoever said chopped brisket sandwich is a dark horse is a certified sharp. Put that thing up against an Italian Beef in round one and you have definite “12 upsetting a 5” vibes.
  5. I am just down the beach from you. Stay cool
  6. Just checking in from SPI. Great weather this week, seaweed has been a bit thick on the beach but otherwise been nice. Finally made it to Ceviche Ceviche for the first time after all these years. They have a little sit down place next door now. We had the classic ceviche, it was really good. I’m still a Los Tortugas fanboy. And the Botanas platter at Dirty Al’s still slams and goes hard. I also ate at The Palms for the first time. Props to the person up thread who said it’s the hidden gem of the island. Absolutely true. Everything was top notch—would highly recommend. After Memorial Day, the place cleared out and has not been too busy. There was a wreck on Saturday that slowed bridge traffic to a crawl but since then things have mellow. Here’s to a great summer.
  7. I tried the Caramel Cold Brew M&Ms this weekend. Not bad…coffee flavor is pretty subtle but adds up when you eat the bag in 2 minutes. So I hear, anyways.
  8. Since we’re on Scott Derry talk…I always wondered if he was related to Merton Hanks or maybe if they had the same chiropractor
  9. I forget who but someone called him “Football Joel Osteen” on Twitter and that just about nails it
  10. This is the clearest explanation of the tendency to give up 3rd (and 4th) and medium/long I’ve seen. Thanks homie
  11. At this point I’m firmly on board the S.S. Continuity for the defensive staff. The improvement has been clear and linear, not just year to year but through this season. Lots of reason to think another year with this staff and some development of people like Collins and Barron things will be humming. There are still some baffling game plans but fundamentals and confidence/aggression are clearly in place.
  12. You can’t be ser…wait…you are serious. Dude graduated high school in 2018 and very well might play again next year. Hopefully he has as much sense as Sam Ehlinger and moves on.
  13. Why can’t we just all agree that KSU’s alignment and the game context meant the play was doomed rather than argue about which direction we ran it? We ran it to the right side earlier in the game for a decent little gain, too.
  14. Cook played some but was obviously on some kind of pitch count. Absolutely need him at full availability for TCU even if he’s in a cast. Crawford got yanked after the first TCU touchdown, I believe. Coaches obv didn’t like him in coverage.
  15. Here’s some poor man’s adjusted stats for you: The last 3 QBs this D has faced have thrown for their conference high yardage against UT: Dekkers, Sanders, Martinez. For Dekkers and Martinez, it was season high. (sorry if you saw this in the game week thread too)
  16. I’ve been looking for a place to drop this tasty morsel. And by tasty morsel, I mean terrible factoid: The last 3 QBs this D has faced have thrown for their conference high yardage against UT: Dekkers, Sanders, Martinez. For Dekkers and Martinez, it was season high. Ouch.
  17. Was I the only one that yelled at the tv, “Steve, let your nuts hang!”
  18. You are right on both points. There were 6 fumbles in the game. KSU recovered 5 of them. All football data ever proves that fumble recovery is plain luck. At least we came up aces on the 6th one.
  19. You may be on to something. In fact, I would almost prefer that explanation to the alternative. Which is that everyone in the stadium (and me at home) knew what plays he was running. The two 3rd down run calls are inexcusable. There were 9 in the box. They are selling out. Just throw a play action pass to Sanders!
  20. I think Scipio could carry a 30-45 minute pod, for sure. His 2 hour pods with Randy are only that long because Randy rambles and interrupts and takes 3 minutes to articulate the most mundane thoughts.
  21. You absolutely nailed it. For some reason Boone thinks every single thought must be uttered. Why can’t Paul find someone with chemistry? Ian Boyd was worse than Boone and Kevin Dunn literally does not have a sense of humor.
  22. Never had Culture Coffee. But if there’s a better cookie than Levain makes, then I’m all in to try it. Because Levain is eyes-roll-back-in-your-head good.
  23. My taste (and means) is not as high as other folks on this thread, though I would like to go to many of the places mentioned. We just got back from a 3 night stay. For some low key non-tasting-menu kind of places. These aren’t hidden gems or anything but they are great at what they do: I am a big fan of Sadelle’s for bagels and lox or other brunch fare. Make your reservation now. Laid back place, might catch a celeb keeping it casual. My favorite neighborhood just to walk around in, is Greenwich/West Village. I recommend Mary’s Fish Camp for the lobster roll (but other seafood is good too) for lunch. No reservations required, nice and laid back but not a dive at all. Hit it on your way back from seeing the Statue of Liberty. Several folks have mentioned Los Tacos No. 1, and it lives up to the hype. Specifically the pastor taco…it is a game changer. Best taco I’ve ever had. There’s a location in Midtown and in Chelsea Market, and a few others I believe. I liked Mimi Chengs for dumplings—you can hit the UWS location before walking in Central Park or the LES location if you’re in the neighborhood. The best cookies in the world are at Levain bakery, several locations. (But there other stuff has been only okay for me.) Oh yeah, I think it was spanky who recommended Beauty & Essex. Cool atmosphere, good food with playful menu. You’ll need reservations but it is NOT stuffy. Actually have to walk through a pawn shop storefront to enter. I also would recommend Top of the Rock I’m assuming it will be freezing cold but the views are great and it’s totally a “first time in NYC” thing. And if you want out of the cold, MoMA and The Met are beloved museums for a reason. Worth a couple hours for sure. Anyway, those places might be called “basic” or whatever but I’ve enjoyed them on my few trips. Have a great time, man. You’ll love it, I’m betting.
  24. There is basically one play we run that is the foundation of the play action game, it’s the layered concept to one side of the field where the outside receiver runs a go, number two runs a rail, number three runs a little flat route. But Sark has designed it from 100 different formations and 100 different personnel groups. I mean, Helm converted a 3rd down on it yesterday. It’s genius in its simplicity made to look complex.
  25. Go watch Christian Jones on the TD run by Brooks. Dude manhandles TWO defenders. His run blocking is a legit positive.
